No one had been allowed to move.
Not even when Asher did.
Xavier hadn't given them the chance.
The atmosphere inside the sitting room remained suffocatingly tense as his cold gaze swept across everyone present.
"I'm still in my calm mode," Xavier said casually, though there was nothing calm about him. "If you're behind this disaster, step forward now. Trust me, you'll regret staying silent later. At least if you confess now, you'll die with some dignity."
A smile curved his lips.
To an outsider, it would have looked harmless.
His squad knew better.
That smile was a mask.
A sadistic mask.
The kind that could remain perfectly pleasant while its owner peeled the skin off a living person without losing his appetite.
Yet no one spoke.
No one moved.
Not a single reaction greeted his threat.
Xavier clicked his tongue and shook his head.
"Beautiful."
His voice dripped with mock approval.
