Silas watched intently as Alice came out of her daze.
The rest of the Cullen present had also gathered around.
When Alice awoke she looked worried.
"They're coming, and it seems they've teamed up with some other vampires."
The Cullens all looked at each other… what to do?
Carlisle asked what everyone wanted to know.
"How many are they?"
"Five…" Alice responded.
Carlisle nodded, they were still more.
"Any ones we recognize?" Carlisle followed up.
Alice shook her head.
"No… at least I don't think so, they looked familiar like I'd seen them somewhere… but I don't know where."
Carlisle nodded, he was confused, where did James and Viktoria find three other vampires so fast?
Did Laurent lie to them?
"Was Laurent there? In your vision?" Carlisle asked.
Alice shook her head.
"Alright, we need to prepare to face them head on, we can't lure all of them away." Carlisle stood up and said.
"What about the plan?" Ella asked worriedly.
Jasper reached out and patted her shoulder.
"The plan is scrapped… also go and get Rosalie, we need to be prepared." Carlisle said as he walked off.
He had to formulate a plan.
Facing them head on wasn't a smart idea.
After Carlisle left, everyone started to chatter worriedly.
Alice reached over and grabbed Silas's arm.
"Are… are you worried?"
Silas smiled then embraced her.
"No need to fear, I said I would protect you, no?"
Alice nodded.
"I didn't see you in the vision… I was worried."
Silas put his right hand on his heart.
"Ouch, did you think I ran away?"
"No! I didn't think that, I thought you had died." Alice quickly explained, she really hadn't thought that way.
Just then Emmett appeared behind them.
"That's right, my good brother Silas would never run in the face of adversity."
Silas nodded.
"You're right, Emmett."
"Haha, of course I am."
Emmett then patted them both on the shoulders.
"I'm going to comfort Rosalie, wish me luck."
As the chatter grew louder Esme stood up.
"Quiet! Quiet! We need to remain calm, Carlisle will figure something out."
She then turned to Alice.
"When did you see them arrive, Alice?"
Alice glanced around at everyone, then said.
"It was dark out, it was difficult to tell the time exactly."
Esme nodded.
"There is still at least an hour left before it's dark, so we have one hour, maybe more."
"This is not the time for panic! We need to think positively: We will win!"
Everyone nodded in agreement.
Now was not the time to lower morale.
They were gonna win, and without casualties.
Silas picked up his phone and saw a message from Viktor, they had now gathered.
He quickly texted.
Text Silas: If we somehow meet, you three don't know me, alright?
Text Viktor: I've told the other two.
Silas nodded approvingly as he put his phone in his pocket.
Alice saw his actions but was confused.
"What's going on?"
Silas shrugged his shoulders.
"I just had to tell my guardian I was going to be late."
Alice looked at him suspiciously but nodded.
Silas texted the others because he didn't want his cover blown, especially if those idiots arrive and do something weird.
Soon Emmett returned with Rosalie who still looked mad, but she had a more solemn expression.
She didn't like Bella, but now her family was in danger… so how could she abandon them?
Rosalie glared at Bella with really unfriendly eyes, when this is over, she will definitely convince the others to throw her out.
She sat down as far away from Bella as possible, Emmett saw this and sighed.
What could he do? He sat down next to her and leaned his head back.
A while later Carlisle returned, he stood in front of every one as if he was about to hold a speech.
"I've contacted some friends, they are on their way, but it might take some time."
"So we can't count on them…"
This made everyone even more worried, shooting glances between each other.
"Our best bet is to hold them off and wait for reinforcements."
Jasper raised his hand.
"So we're going to play defense?"
Carlisle nodded.
"Unless you guys have a better idea?"
Everyone shook their heads.
"Then it's decided."
Everyone sat in silence, whispering between each other.
Their faces are more solemn than the other.
No one believed they would make it out casualty free.
Would they make it out mostly fine? Yes.
Would all of them survive… maybe.
They have nine combatants total, and the others have five.
The numerical advantage is theirs… but does this guarantee that all of them survive?
No.
Silas was the only one who was calm.
After all he had insider information, even if Cessian, Gregor and Viktor can't support the Cullens to victory.
Then he'll have to step up.
Like the dad who was never there….
Seeing that the atmosphere was kinda heavy Silas opted for a joke.
"Guys… I've got a plan."
Everyone looked at him, their gazes saying the same thing.
Go on, spit it out.
Silas cleared his throat.
"How about we… trade Bella?"
Quiet… a second later Rosalie jumped on the train.
"Sounds like a good plan, I'll vote for this."
Bella moved closer to Edward.
She didn't want to die.
Jasper sighed.
Silas was about to continue when he felt a smack on his head, and then a pinch in his side.
He was attacked from two directions by Alice and Esme.
"Don't joke about that." Esme said with narrowed eyes.
Alice nodded.
"Don't even joke about it."
Silas raised his hands in surrender.
"Yeah, yeah, I get it, no utilitarian sacrifice of Bella."
Alice snorted and turned away from him.
Seeing this Silas got a little anxious.
He leaned in and whispered in her ear.
"Hey, Alice, no need to be angry, I was just trying to lighten the mood, as a distraction."
Alice didn't respond.
"Look, it worked, everyone except Bella looks more relaxed."
Alice frowned and looked around.
Indeed, they looked more relaxed.
"Hmph, fine, I forgive you…" Alice mumbled and turned back towards him.
Silas embraced her with practiced ease.
He had to be careful with his jokes in the future… I don't wanna make Alice angry.
Before he could continue to coax her, she stood up.
Silas thought she was still angry but then she exclaimed.
"They're here!"
...
Enjoy. Mwah~
