Chapter 98 - Spite

In a house twenty minutes, by vampire running speed from Forks.

"Haha, straight flush, haha I beat your full house!" Gregor laughed as he threw the cards on the table.

Cessian glanced at his cards and clicked his tongue.

"You might've won this round, but I won the last three."

Gregor crossed his arms defiantly.

"Maybe, let's play again to see if this was just a coincidence."

Cessian nodded and started to collect the cards.

He was just about to shuffle them when his phone started ringing.

"What…?" Before Gregor could question the sound, Cessian raised his hand to quiet him.

He answered the phone.

"Viktor… is that you?"

"Yes. The master has an assignment for us."

Cessian looked over at Gregor.

He mouthed: The master wants us to do something.

Gregor got excited and as he stood up he knocked the chair to the ground.

"Then let's go!"

Cessian made a shushing motion with his index finger.

Viktor in the phone ignored the commotion on the other side of the phone.

"The master wants us to hunt down three vampires, and kill them…"

Cessian nodded.

"We understand, where are we supposed to meet?"

Viktor was quiet for a second.

"Head towards Forks, we'll meet up at the sign and then comb through from there."

Then he hung up.

Cessian looked at the phone in his hand with some displeasure.

"This Viktor has really grown a pair, huh?"

"Does he think being close to the master makes him better than us?"

Gregor was quiet for a second.

"Doesn't it? Just admit you're jealous."

Cessian glanced at him then sighed.

"Let's go, we don't wanna disappoint the master."

In a flash they both disappeared from their spots, like ghosts.

Deep in the forest, close to Silas's house, Viktor was moving quickly between the trees.

He had just ended the call with Cessian and was going to start the search for the trio.

It's hard to find vampires unless you can find a scent trail… but then again it's the same with everything.

After searching the vicinity close to the house he found nothing new, so he started to move towards the Forks sign.

They were gonna meet there, then split up.

His plan was for them to comb through with three people.

That way they could cover a lot of ground.

And on the way there he could also cover a lot of ground.

Back at the Cullen house the cullens were still unsure of what to do.

They were planning on leaving with Bella and then using a distraction to lure James away.

But this plan faced a lot of criticism from Rosalie.

"Why should we help her? She is the one who is putting our family in danger."

"Rosalie, stop." Esme said.

"No! I won't just stop, we wouldn't have this problem if it weren't for her."

Carlisle sighed, he understood what Rosalie was saying, and she wasn't wrong.

They shouldn't have let Edward be with Bella, she was human, she was from a different world then them, but the mate bond between them was a strong thing.

"Rosalie, stop, we were the ones who put her in that situation." Carlisle said, trying to reason with her.

"No we weren't, she made her own decision to be there, she should have known as a human that she was in danger around vampires."

Carlisle frowned.

"We can't just excuse ourselves from our guilt."

"Ha, what guilt? She wanted to come along." Rosalie scoffed, she dismissed his argument.

She wasn't gonna put Bella as some victim of them.

Then Rosalie smirked.

"There is an easy fix to this problem."

Just then Edward walked in with Bella, they had just arrived, but Rosalie and Carlisle had been too focused on their argument they hadn't noticed.

"We won't turn Bella into a vampire!"

Rosalie glanced over at him, then scoffed as she leaned back in the couch.

Edward glared at her, and seeing her dismissive attitude he gritted his teeth.

"What double morals, you didn't say this when Silas joined us, what do you have against Bella!?"

Silas, who was sitting with Alice watching the show, was confused. How did I get dragged into this?

Rosalie crossed her arms.

"You're grasping at straws, you know they're different, don't get down to techinaclities."

Edward was fuming.

"How are they different? They are both humans."

Rosalie rolled her eyes.

"Sure, and Silas is an ordinary human?"

Then she glanced at Bella.

"And at least Silas isn't some annoying little girl."

"Rosalie! Stop! That's enough, Bella is now part of our family!"

Rosalie looked over at him and then stood up to leave.

She had enough of this, she just wanted to save her family, she didn't want anyone in her family to die for Bella.

She was just some girl they had known for less than a year, and Edward hadn't even decided how he felt about her.

She could tell he was wavering, like he always was.

And he would never change her, why sacrifice their lifelong happiness with each other for the life of a human that will die in less than a hundred years?

She would never accept it.

Edward angrily sat down next to Carlisle.

"What are we supposed to do?" He asked.

Carlisle sighed.

"We had a plan, it isn't very good, but it is a plan."

Carlisle then went on to explain the plan.

Hearing the plan again neither Jasper, Ella nor Emmett were especially happy about it.

It seemed… not worth it.

But then again, they had to do it.

Silas on the other hand didn't care much for their plan, he knew that his "employees" were on the way to solve it.

It feels good to be a hands off boss.

All you have to do is give orders and then accept the benefits, no need for hard work.

Since he can get it for less work, that means he is worth more.

Afterall, only a slave quantifies its worth through productivity.

He himself isn't very productive is he? That must mean he is less of a slave.

Right?

Silas was lost in thought, just then he felt someone tug at his arm.

"Silas? What are your thoughts?" Alice asked.

Silas snapped out of his reverie and looked at Alice with a carefree smile.

"No worries, I think the plan is okay."

Alice nodded, but just then she fell into a daze.

Silas could feel something was acting on her, if he had to guess, she was having a vision.

She looked worried even through the vision… could something have gone wrong?

Silas was confused, so he did a calculation of his own.

A second later he was even more confused.

His luck is still close to boundless… how can anything bad happen to him?

Or those around him for that matter?

Silas was now even more interested in Alice's vision.

What did she see?

...

Enjoy. Mwah~
