"Yugi really is something," Duke said, staring at the field. "He summoned a God Card on turn one—and with Slifer the Sky Dragon's effect, every time Kisaragi summons a monster, it gets blasted by thunder and loses 2000 ATK. That should completely shut down her ability to develop a board."
"Wow… the Pharaoh's that strong," Marik muttered.
"He is," Ishizu answered quietly. "Stronger than we expected. To think Kisaragi would be forced into a disadvantage right from the start…"
Kisaragi didn't look bothered in the slightest.
"Yugi… impressive. A first-turn God summon would make most duelists surrender immediately," she said, eyes narrowing just a touch. "But…"
Yami Yugi understood: a God alone would never make her kneel. He watched her carefully, waiting to see how she would escape the noose.
"My turn—draw!"
"I activate Graceful Charity. I draw three cards, then discard two!"
A hand-cycling spell… What is she pitching to the Graveyard? Yami Yugi thought, his instincts sharpening.
Kisaragi's discarded cards hit the Graveyard.
"I activate the effect of The White Stone of Legend. When it's sent to the Graveyard, I add Blue-Eyes White Dragon from my Deck to my hand."
Blue-Eyes… Yami Yugi's gaze narrowed. Even Blue-Eyes is fragile before a god.
Kisaragi calmly set one card.
"I set one card. End my turn."(Cards in hand: 6)
"…That's it?" Téa blurted.
"Did she brick?" Tristan frowned.
"Yeah," Joey said. "This is not like her. Something's off."
Even Yami Yugi's thoughts tangled.
She didn't summon. So she's respecting Slifer. But a single set card can't stop a God Card… Can it? Is she baiting?
"My turn—draw!"
Kisaragi smiled—almost teasing.
"Yugi, you have four cards in hand. That means Slifer's ATK is 4000. If you attack right now, this duel could end."

Yami Yugi hesitated.
Is she bluffing? Or does that set card only activate in the Battle Phase? Either way—trap effects don't work on the gods.
He tightened his jaw.
"I activate Graceful Charity. Draw three, discard two."
Still—no response from Kisaragi. Yami Yugi's frown deepened.
So it's not a response card. Then what is she waiting for…?
Inside, Yugi's voice urged him on: Other me… you won't know until you step on it.
Yami Yugi's eyes hardened.
"You're right. I can't freeze here."
"Battle! Slifer the Sky Dragon attacks Kisaragi directly—Thunderforce Attack!"
Lightning gathered in Slifer's jaws and roared down like a divine verdict.
"Kisaragi!" Kaiba took an involuntary step forward. He knew she wouldn't fall this early—yet his body moved before reason.
Kisaragi raised a single card from her hand without a shred of panic.
"I discard Swift Scarecrow from my hand. This turn, you take no damage from direct attacks."
A small, winged machine darted in front of the blast—an absurdly tiny body absorbing a power no Level 1 monster should ever face.
"What?!" Yami Yugi's eyes widened. "She blocked a God's direct attack with a hand effect!"
"And I'm not done," Kisaragi said, tapping her set card.
"I flip my Trap: Ojama Duo. I Special Summon two Ojama Tokens to your field in Defense Position."(ATK 0 / DEF 1000, one red and one blue)
Two bizarre creatures popped into existence on Yami Yugi's side of the field, wobbling and squeaking.
Yami Yugi's expression tightened. What… is she setting up?
Kisaragi's lips curled slightly.
"Yugi—at the end of your Battle Phase… I'm activating a Trap from my hand."
"What?!" Yami Yugi blurted, genuinely thrown.
The entire arena's attention snapped to her.
Kaiba, Joey, even Ishizu—everyone stared as if Kisaragi had just announced the sky was falling.
Kisaragi slammed the card down.
"Evenly Matched!"
She spoke clearly, almost savoring the wording.
"This Trap can be activated from the hand if I control no cards. It can only be activated at the end of the Battle Phase. Its effect: you must banish cards from your field face-down until you control the same number of cards I do."
Yami Yugi snapped back instantly.
"Useless. The gods aren't affected by Trap Cards!"
Kisaragi's eyes were cold.
"I'm not targeting the god, Yugi. I'm targeting you. You're the one who has to choose what to banish."
Then she added, calmly—like a judge reading a final clause.
"And I'll remind you: tokens can't be banished face-down. So… start choosing."
Yami Yugi's gaze drifted to his own field.
Two Ojama Tokens. And Slifer.
His mouth opened slightly—then closed.
For the first time, the "invincible" God Card looked… vulnerable. Not because it could be destroyed—but because it could be forced out of the game by the player's own hand.
Kaiba burst into laughter, loud and sharp.
"Ha—HAHAHA! She dismantled a God's offense with something that simple? Kisaragi… how far does your mind go? Why can you always see lines I can't?"
Joey stared, still processing.
"This is insane… I didn't even understand what happened and she already flipped the whole duel upside down."
Mai nodded slowly, eyes narrowed.
"That first set card wasn't defense—it was bait. Everyone assumed one face-down couldn't possibly stop Slifer, including Yugi. She waited for the exact timing window where the rules would force Yugi to choose… and she pinned him with tokens that can't be banished face-down."
Yami Yugi exhaled through his nose—admiration and irritation mixing.
"…Fine. I won't pretend this isn't brilliant."
With a stiff motion, he lifted the God Card from his Duel Disk.
"I banish Slifer the Sky Dragon."
Slifer vanished—no explosion, no roar—just erased, like a divine presence cut out of the world.
Kisaragi didn't smile. She merely watched.
Yami Yugi set one card.
"I set one card. End my turn."
In the End Phase, Joker's Straight triggered in the Graveyard again.
"I activate Joker's Straight's Graveyard effect: I return King's Knight to the Deck, and add Joker's Straight back to my hand."
