The next day, they switch the pairing, today Sol will fight against Eidolon, and Aurora will go up against Kamish.
The Chimchar and the Beldum wait for Lazarus to start the match.
"I want both of you to do your best. Don't hold back." Lazarus says. He isn't worried about them hurting each other, their typing makes this a fair match-up, for now.
"Now go."
Aurora cheers for both of them.
First thing Eidolon does is gather the rocks from his surroundings. He uses his psychic sense to search for rocks.
Sol fires a flamethrower at him, it doesn't faze his metallic body, but it does heat him a little.
Eidolon finds nearly 40 rocks around him and uses levitation to lift as many as he can. He has been training his control and can currently lift up to 30 rocks at the same time.
Sol fires another flamethrower at Eidolon as the rocks rise into the air.
Eidolon surrounds Sol with rocks in all directions and then hurls them at Sol.
The first rock hits Sol, but he is determined to dodge the rest.
He jumps into the air by doing a flip, and then as he descends, with his mouth towards the ground, Sol uses a flamethrower.
The thrust of the flame sends Sol flying upwards through the air. Lazarus has been teaching him to maneuver with his flames, but this is the first time he has been able to do it so perfectly.
Aurora looks at Sol flying up in the sky with wide surprised eyes. She didn't think something like this was possible.
Kamish is intrigued and impressed.
Lazarus smiles.
Eidolon didn't expect that move from Sol, he was expecting him to dodge some rocks as he got overwhelmed by the rest.
As Sol reaches around ten to twelve meters into the air, he flips back up and dives towards Eidolon.
Eidolon can see Sol's trajectory of descent, so he just floats away and hurls all the rocks towards the place he thinks Sol will end up at.
Sol sees that Eidolon has changed his position, so he uses a flamethrower to thrust himself back, dodging the barrage of rocks in the process.
Eidolon picks the rocks again, and Sol uses flamethrower with his mouth towards the sky to get back on land again and uses another flamethrower at Eidolon, who is too busy picking up the rocks so ends up getting hit.
This keeps on for some time, Eidolon keeps throwing rocks at Sol, who uses his new found mastery of flamethrower to dodge them, then Eidolon has to pick up the rocks again, they keep doing this until Sol gets tired and runs out of energy.
"I'll call this a draw," Lazarus says, ending the match.
Aurora rushes to congratulate them both for having fought so well.
She tackles Sol to the ground and then excitedly mimics how cool he looked while flying through the sky. She tries to jump and use her Ice Beam on the ground, it doesn't make her fly.
But then she gets an idea. She looks at Lazarus and asks him a question through Eidolon's psychic link.
"No, unfortunately, you can't use your Ice Beam to propel yourself into the sky like Sol did."
That dampens some of her enthusiasm. She nods sadly.
"But don't be sad, once you master your abilities, you'll be able to do a lot of cool stuff as well, and it's not like you aren't cool enough already, ask anyone here."
All three Pokémon nod, Sol tells her about how beautiful her ice sculptures are, which makes Aurora grin with pride, she decides to make more things out of ice to show all of them later.
"Anyway, Eidolon and Sol, you fought well. Sol, your technique was ingenious, your application of flamethrower to fly gets you this draw, even though you ran out of energy first. Later today and tomorrow, we will focus on having you being able to generate flames from all around your body so you can propel forward without using flamethrowers through your mouth."
Sol nods, he never thought training and learning new things could be this fun. Before Lazarus became his trainer, he used to spend all his waking hours training until he would fall asleep from exhaustion but still didn't manage to learn as much as he is right now.
"Now as for you, Eidolon, you are doing levitation wrong. You are picking up the rocks and then accelerating them towards your target, this is good if you want to conserve energy but this won't let you change the direction of the rocks. If you could have changed the direction of the rocks mid-way, then it wouldn't have mattered if Sol could dodge them or not. You could have kept following him with the rocks. This is what you will focus on."
Eidolon understands his assignment and asks how he can train this?
"I'll tell you after the next fight." Lazarus turns to Kamish and says, "Go, it's your and Aurora's turn to fight."
Kamish looks at Aurora and finds her already looking at him with determined eyes. Kamish doesn't want to fight his big sis, she can't defeat him, and he doesn't want to hurt her, but refusing to fight would be a bad look and likely piss her off so he prepares to fight.
They both face each other, Kamish thinks of ways to end this without hurting her or making her sad.
"Begin."
Aurora crouches down and braces for impact, which doesn't come. She looks and sees Kamish still floating at the same position.
She finds this weird, she thought he would tackle her the moment the match began, so she finds herself being curious about what strategy he is going with.
She creates shards of ice and hurls them towards Kamish, who just dodges them easily.
After dodging the projectile, he goes back to his former position and waits for Aurora to make her next move.
Aurora creates a wall to block a dragon dash by Kamish that doesn't come. She peeks from behind the wall and finds Kamish not doing anything. He isn't rushing towards her, he isn't even gathering energy to attack. He is just floating there, waiting.
She squints her eyes at him, unable to figure out what lil bro is trying to do.
She creates a a lot of ice shards in the air, fifteen of them are knife sized, but she also creates around 20 smaller ones the size of a thumb.
She accelerates the bigger ones towards Kamish first.
All the shards phase through Kamish's body as he becomes incorporeal for a few seconds.
When he becomes tangible again, Aurora fires the rest of the shards. They are smaller but more numerous.
Kamish sees the barrage of ice coming towards him. They not very fast, in the time it takes them to reach him, he could go into dragon force mode, tear through the ice, and then tackle Aurora, that will end the match instantly.
But Kamish doesn't do any of these, he uses his tail to smack the ice away from his body, almost as if he is playing with them.
This is when she realizes his strategy. He doesn't have one. He isn't doing anything because he thinks he doesn't need to do anything. He thinks she is too delicate for him to fight. This realization makes her feel humiliated.
The insult brings tears to her eyes, and then anger.
From the depths of her being, a cold rage manifests itself because of him. The air around Aurora starts freezing into ice crystals.
She looks at Kamish with fury and let out an indignant howl.
The air all around the camp becomes cold as all the moisture turns into ice. A localized blizzard forms near Aurora and then it spreads outward.
Soon, the entire camping site is frozen in a layer of frost and ice. Everyone feels the cold chill in their skin. The windshield of the cruiser is also frozen.
Kamish is surprised by this level of power. He didn't think big sis was capable of all this. What a pleasant surprise.
After the blizzard dies down, he floats near Aurora to congratulate her, he tries to pet her with his tail but Aurora dodges his tail and skids away from him, not even looking his way.
She approaches and leaps straight into Lazarus's arms.
"It's okay, I understand." Lazarus softly says as he caresses her back. She has fallen asleep after spending every single bit of her energy.
Kamish frowns and gets close to see what is happening.
Eidolon gently throws a rock at Kamish, who is confused. Why is Eidolon throwing stuff at him? Kamish dodges the rock and looks around.
Sol looks at the dragon with disapproval, his arms folded.
Lazarus looks at Kamish with disappointment, "Do you think fighting Aurora is a waste of time just because you are more powerful? Even if she isn't as powerful as you are, you can still learn something from the fight. And she isn't as delicate as you think, you insult her by not taking the fight seriously."
Kamish looks horrified hearing that. What does he mean? He wasn't trying to insult her! He was just making sure she didn't get hurt! Isn't that what he was supposed to do in the first place? Protect her from any harm. Why is everyone angry?
Lazarus sighs and shakes his head, "How would you feel if someone treated you like a fragile toy because they thought you weren't strong enough to even handle getting a little hurt? Pokémon can't learn to fight if they don't get a little hurt. By not taking her seriously, you are making it hard for her to grow. Is that what you want? Her never reaching the height of power she is capable of reaching? You are supposed to protect her, not stifle her growth."
Then it hits Kamish, the severity of the blunder he has committed. In his hubris of wanting to protecting his big sis from any hurt, he underestimated her and didn't treat her like an equal.
