Chapter 7 - Eternal Jealousy and the Clash of Hearts

Silence blanketed the grandmother's house after the mysterious message, but it was not a safe silence; it was a stillness charged with a tension the forest had never witnessed before. Aria, busy gathering the shattered remnants of her soul, was not thinking of the "High Council" or the looming threat; her mind was tethered to Asif to his memory, which refused to fade, and the image of his face, last seen in that dark, desolate cell.

Yong-soo watched her from the corner of the room, his eyes tracking her every movement. He felt "Asif" like a lump in his throat, like a strange phantom intruding upon his eternal kingdom. He approached her slowly, his eyes a mixture of lethal adoration and a jealousy so intense it threatened to consume the room.

"He is still alive in your heart, isn't he?" he whispered, drawing so close that his icy breath grazed her face. "This mortal... this 'Asif'... he cannot grant you a single second of eternity. He cannot shield you from my shadows, nor from Thiago's hell. Yet, you continue to weave his name into a shroud for your heart."

Aria did not answer, but a tear falling from her eye was answer enough. Yong-soo erupted in a silent, subterranean fury; he did not scream, but the glass beside him shattered into fine dust the moment his fingers brushed it.

"I will do the impossible!" he vowed, cupping her face in his hands, his tone a mix of pleading and command. "I will shatter the gates of time. I will lay the moon at your feet. I will erase your memory of every pain you have ever known... just so that you look at me, and not at that ghost."

That night, Yong-soo left the house. He was no longer just a guardian; he had become a "hunter" of hope. He began to do the impossible, leveraging his influence in the ancient realms and paying a heavy price in his own energy and eternal life to locate Asif. He did not do it out of benevolence, but because he realized that Aria would never be truly his as long as Asif existed as a thought stealing her mind. He wanted to liberate him, to bring him back to kill him before her eyes? Or to prove to her that he was the superior being? He did not even know himself.

While Aria was lost in silent prayer, Sayeong entered the room, her face pale with terror. "Aria... Yong-soo is not himself. He is tearing the forest apart, ripping through the fabric of reality to find a path to Asif. This love is turning into madness!"

At that moment, Aria felt something strange. Her body began to tremble, and the technology embedded deep within her began to transmit bizarre signals, as if "connecting" to something far away. She felt Asif's presence, as if he were screaming her name from a cell that existed nowhere on any map.

Yong-soo returned at dawn, his body covered in mysterious wounds, but his eyes held a terrifying glimmer of triumph. He collapsed before her and placed a small object in her hands: it was the ring she had given to Asif on the day they parted.

"I found him," he said with a bitter smile, gasping for breath. "But remember, Aria... the moment I return him to you, you will discover that the monster who protects you is the only monster who will love you until the end of the universe."

Aria looked at the ring, then at Yong-soo, feeling her heart split in two: one half beating for the broken Asif, and the other beginning to be bewitched by this "entity" who was selling his very existence to fulfill her dreams.

After Yong-soo dropped the ring into Aria's hands, a heavy silence fell a stillness broken only by Yong-soo's ragged breathing, which carried the scent of an unspent storm. Aria approached him slowly; she did not touch the ring, but instead looked at his face, which was trembling with exhaustion. His wounds were not bleeding normal blood; they glowed with a faint, ethereal light, as if he were struggling to reconstruct his very being right before her eyes.

"Why did you do this?" Aria whispered, her voice trembling. "You don't know Asif, and you don't understand why I would risk everything for his sake."

Yong-soo rose. He towered over her, his presence cast in two shadows, his gaze overflowing with an epic, otherworldly brilliance she had never seen before. He drew closer until the distance between them vanished. He placed a hand on her shoulder, and she felt an unnatural warmth flooding through her body.

"Tell me," he said in a voice as deep as centuries of solitude. "Tell me every detail, every scream your body released under their hands. I do not want to hear it through your clouded memories; I want to know why this frail human world dares to harm a being who holds nothing but light in her soul."

Aria surrendered to the intensity of his presence and began to speak. For the first time since her escape, the floodgates of her patience burst open. She told him about the days in Brazil, about Asif, the torture chambers, the technologies implanted in her bones, and the feeling that she no longer belonged to this world. She spoke, and her tears fell like black pearls upon his hands.

With every word, Yong-soo's face shifted from icy coldness to a sacred, terrifying rage. He trembled not out of weakness, but because his mind was translating her pain into calculated plans to destroy everyone who had dared to touch her.

"I thought I had seen every variety of cruelty throughout the ages," he said, brushing a tear from her cheek with his thumb a touch so tender it made her heart ache. "But what they did to you... it makes me wish to erase this era from the records of existence. Aria, you are not a 'project.' You are the only scar in this universe that I cherish."

He moved closer, trapping her between his arms and the roaring fireplace. "Asif... yes, I will bring him back to you. Not because he is worthy, but because you ask it. But know this: while you were suffering in those dungeons, I was searching for you in the very fabric of the stars. You were mine long before they even knew your name."

Aria looked into his eyes and saw "madness" and "protection" warring within them. She asked him in a faint voice, "Will you kill me if you discover that my heart still beats for another?"

He smiled a smile that nearly stopped her pulse a smile of eternal confidence. "Human hearts are fleeting, Aria. But I... I am eternity itself. I will wait until everything that binds you to the old world withers away. I will remain the only one who knows the details of the wounds he cannot fathom. I will bring Asif back to see you, but then... you will realize that you cannot abandon the shadow that protects you from the sun."

He reached out and lifted her chin. His gaze melted the distance between them. Aria no longer feared him; she began to feel a "spell" enshrouding her soul, a bond no human could break. Yong-soo was drawing near to her not just with his body, but with his entire essence using his love as a weapon to possess her soul.

Outside, the wind began to howl, as if the sky itself realized that the "Guardian" had begun to drown in his love for the "Prey."
