Chapter 9 - Alethia: The Rebirth of the Shadow Queen

A heavy silence permeated the frozen palace, broken only by the crackle of the great fireplace. Aria sat on the floor, hugging her knees, shivering not from the Icelandic cold, but from the frigidity of memories gnawing at her soul. She could no longer bear the secret consuming her from within: the "trace" Thiago had left in her body, a vile truth that made her feel like nothing more than a vessel for filth.

She raised her head toward Yong-soo, her face as pale as a spirit that had departed this world. "Yong-soo... I... I am carrying his child."

She broke down in tears, her words torn and raw. "I feel disgusted with myself. I feel stained by every touch, every second I spent in that cell. How can a body that went through all this hell nurture something that reminds me of him every single day? I don't even deserve for you to look at me, let alone love me."

She had expected rage; she had expected him to turn away, to feel the same revulsion she felt. But Yong-soo did none of that. He stood calmly, approached her with solemn grace, and knelt before her, trapping her within his strong arms. This time, his touch was not cold; it held a mysterious, bewildering warmth.

He cupped her face in his hands, forcing her to look into his eyes, which glimmered with a dark and enchanting brilliance. "Listen to me well, Aria," he said in a deep voice that settled into the depths of her bones. "You are not the body that was violated, and you are not the past they tried to force upon you. You are the light I have loved, and the fire with which I shall burn anyone who dared touch a single atom of your pride."

He added with a promise that could not be broken: "As for this child... so be it. It shall not be a memory of Thiago, nor will it carry his blood. From this moment on, this child shall be attributed to me. It will be part of my being, my power, and my eternity. I will erase the trace and rewrite the destiny. It will be my heir, and the inheritor of all the shadows I command."

Aria was startled, yet his words began to plant a strange sense of serenity within her. Yong-soo continued: "As for you, the Aria the world knew is dead. The prey is dead, and the broken memory is no more. You need a name worthy of a queen who dwells beside me a name that belongs to no human records or trivial archives."

He stood and pulled her up to stand before him, then placed his hand over her heart. "From today, your name is 'Alethia.' A name that signifies the truth that cannot be hidden, and the jewel that only those who deserve it may touch. You are 'Alethia,' my beloved, my companion, and the entity who will witness with me the twilight of this pathetic human era."

The name permeated her being like a prayer: *Alethia*. She felt as though an old, tattered cloak had fallen away, and that she was finally beginning to purge herself of the rot of Thiago and the Organization. Yong-soo leaned closer, whispering into her ear as he enveloped her in his regal presence: "Alethia... I will make this child growing within you a symbol of our combined power. I will make it stronger than Thiago ever dreamed, and I will teach you how to forget the disgust, how to transform into pure energy untainted by defilement. You are mine, and your new name is a seal upon your soul one that no one shall ever remove, not in this life nor in the ages to come."

Alethia (formerly Aria) felt that she had become his completely not through coercion this time, but through total surrender. Yong-soo had granted her a new identity, a new home within his own being, and a protection that made her feel capable of facing the entire world, she who had been but yesterday a victim trembling in the dark.

He leaned down and kissed her forehead; this kiss was a baptism. In that frozen palace, "Alethia" was born, and a new chapter of obsessive, intense love began a chapter where Thiago and Asif were nothing but distant echoes, echoes no longer worth the effort of a second glance.
