Chapter 22 - HERE COMES THE FROG

Something had to be done! A drastic step had to be taken. Hiding was not among the available options. The basement was long and void. It felt like an empty vacuum. Any risky move would echo out and call the attention of the guards. This definitely wasn't a coincidence, it doesn't seem like one. Someone or something was vividly spying on him.

The probability of him been tailed was at a higher ratio. No one would think of coming down the basement at this dark time of the night.. To make it look sensible, only the king as well as prince Luther gained full access to the basement. The sound of the approaching footstep was nothing similar to that of the two royal figures.

The footstep was coming closer. Jay was caught in a web of confusion. His smart mind refused to think straight. The universe had gifted him with just one option, "Magic".

Was that really the only way out? Yes it is! Making use of his ability was the only way to lay low from the incoming threat, which looks closer than it appears to be.

He closed his eye and slowly flashed them open, keeping his gaze on the heavy metallic padlock. The lock vibrated, feeling the pressure of an anonymous force on it but refused to give in so easily. Jay felt a streak of urine dropping down his manhood. The footstep was closer than ever, he could see the shadow of a huge figure stepping slowly and carefully down the stairs.

Jay felt enraged and furious at the vibrating padlock. He felt like a general who was been stripped off his command badge. The distance between he and the footstep felt closer than a stone throw. Once again, Jay felt like a ridiculous comic character. Was his power going to fail him? What was wrong? It worked so perfectly few minute ago.

He shut down his circular eyes, opened his granulated teeth and rolled his head in anger, bringing them to rest in alliance with the padlock. The vibration suddenly stopped, it was silent.

Anxious Jay just stood there frozen. He couldn't predict the next minute, looking lost, waiting for a miracle to happen. Without any form of invitation, the padlock popped open.

Jay who was lost in thought, looking unstable, imitating a drunken master swiftly switched on.

His slides the door open, gaining entrance into the main building. Wow! What a transformation, he exclaimed. There were many treasure that tend to attract the human eye. Jay was astonished.

He felt carried away by the beautiful treasure.

The most attractive artifact that cornered his eye was the golden frog. It seems very hard to believe, learning that the frog wasn't originally a statue. It was indeed a living creature.

The frog came to existence during the era of Albion third monarch. Going back in time, the king was said to be a lover of magic.

He even went as far as constituting a festival for all sorcerers and magician which took place every fourteenth day of the fifth month. According to historical record, the frog was said to be a keen adviser to the king. Of course, it was indeed supernatural, looking nothing of the human world. The king treats the frog with efficient speciality.

A kind of treatment even human are immune to. The palace elders and chief all felt like a trash bag. A total waste of product. The mysterious frog has made them looked useless in the king sight.

What the hell was this? How can a mere frog make so much fun and ridicule of them.

The elders started feeling like lunatics, continuously questioning their intelligence.

The frog had dominated the king heart, making him strip the elders of their chieftaincy title.

This was insanely abnormal, everyone thought. The king was going bizarre! He was acting out of place. At a point in time, the king cherished the frog much more than his own family.

It was clearly obvious! The king was no longer acting in line with his title

He had been limited to a puppet been controlled by the frog. Things were getting out of hand. There was a bold evidence to that. The once good and gracious monarch became a killer.

He started ordering the the immediate execution of people whose crime should have been subjected to a home quarantine.

He went as far, locking his son up for days, all because he failed to show at the monthly royal banquet. He was turning his back on the people. The whole kingdom was in an uproar, leaving them with an unanswered question. "Who exactly was to blame"? The king, the frog or the people. When it was no longer a debated topic, there where full claim the frog would lead the king to doom and destruction.

The elders decided to hold the bull by the horn. They wanted to dive deep into the matter.

Looking and sitting ideal will do more harm than good. Luckily, they managed to convince Marco, a well known divine sorcerer who was capable of the unknown. Marco had came to the palace in person. Giving the elders such assignment might end up turning tragic.

He needed to be there himself. No one knew Marco was coming. He didn't disclose his arrival.

All he did was give them his words. The ultimate sorcerer appeared out of the thin air, gaining balance into the palace court. The frog was shocked to see Marco. The sorcerer was more experienced. He had dig deep and read all form of magical book about the mysterious frog.

The frog was sharp shooter, it was known to unleash venom on it opponent with it poisonous tongue which mostly happens in a blink of an eye. Marco had to be one step ahead or else, the battle would be over before it even started. He dipped his hand into his old looking half ripped bag and brought out the magic substance known as the "Frog Powder".

Only sorcerers who practiced the ancient generational magic knew about it. The mysterious frog was shocked at the sight of the powder. Whatever that was wasn't profitable to him. It stretched forth his tongue, aimed at the target but Marco was incredibly fast and calculative. He was well known for his abilities. He splashed the frog powder on the earth surface.

The frog gave a loud scream and melted into a golden statue. That was the tragic end of the mysterious frog. The frog became a symbol of example. Ever since, Albion had forbid any sorcery activities around it domain and vicinity. The ancient content and artifact all had a historical connection which was the main reason why the building was declared confidential.

But here was Jay wandering around the basement. Only if they knew. He was just another creature more powerful than whatever supernatural being Albion has ever produced.
