That afternoon, in her simple boarding room, Zee ate her diet lunch from the gym cafeteria. She chewed slowly, but her mind drifted far away.

Unable to contain her anxiety, she stood up. Her meal was far from finished, but Zee grabbed her car keys and rushed toward Jonathan's apartment.

Inside, Jonathan lay weak in bed, reluctant to move. The notification sound broke the silence. With great effort, he reached for the phone lying on a pillow nearby.
