Moments later, the car sped away, leaving David standing frozen and shattered in his tracks.
Zee let out a long, weary sigh, half-relief and half-exhaustion. "Do I have to leave my car here again?" she murmured to herself.
"It's okay," Jonathan replied casually. "We're going out later this afternoon anyway, aren't we?"
"Hm..." Zee just hummed, her mind still clouded.
Zee's phone buzzed. A notification popped up from Jonathan: "I'm out front."
Zee quickly replied, her fingers typing, "Five more minutes, wait."
After sending the message, Zee stood before the mirror. She touched up her makeup, ensuring her lipstick wasn't overdone. Then, she spun around, checking her appearance, especially her outfit.
She had intentionally chosen fitted jeans and an oversized t-shirt with the front tucked in. This style was meant to hide her 'bloated' look, or so she told herself.
"Okay," Zee said with a short sigh, then ran out of her room.
