Zee let out a long sigh of relief as the elevator doors closed in the distance. She pulled her arms from Jonathan's waist as if the contact had burned her. "Is she your ex?" Zee asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.
"Hm," Jonathan answered shortly, locking the door without expression.
"Is she a celebrity?" Zee asked again, noting how expertly the girl had disguised herself.
However, Jonathan didn't answer immediately. He turned away and walked further into the apartment, leaving Zee standing confused by the door.
"You don't need to know," Jonathan said, his tone firm and closed off, ending the conversation before Zee could ask anything else.
Zee sighed in resignation and walked slowly after him. Jonathan headed toward the living area, picked up a slim laptop from a shelf, and moved to a minimalist workstation in the corner. He sat down, the laptop screen flared to life, and he was ready to work.
