Inside Reno's luxurious car, Safea sat stiffly. Throughout the short drive to the hotel, she appeared hesitant, grappling with her own thoughts. However, the shame, the adrenaline, and her decision to rebel had already locked her voice. She could not bring herself to turn back now.
Reno parked the car in the valet area, right in front of the grand hotel lobby. Before turning off the engine, he turned to Safea.
"I am going to stop by the convenience store in the lobby for a moment to buy some protection. Do you want me to pick anything up for you?" Reno asked without beating around the bush.
Safea started, snapped out of her trance. The word she had just heard was too vulgar to be spoken so casually.
"What?"
"I am going to buy protection. Do you want me to get you anything?" Reno repeated, his tone as casual as if he were asking about a soft drink.
"Protection? What is that?" Safea asked innocently. Her expression displayed pure confusion.
