The next day on the planet Amunet
The team departed as soon as the sun broke over the horizon.
With an aversion to sunlight, they would face far fewer encounters with Demons by travelling as far as possible across the craggy indigo surface of Amunet if they utilised every hour of sunlight.
They were mostly silent during the first leg of their journey, and Kai suspected that this was partly down to his own presence, catching the odd wary glance from the three new additions as they led the small group.
The native Amunites had no need for the black filtration masks, but Kai had donned his as usual, with Uri wearing his own so as not to draw suspicion - he had never appeared to be affected by the toxic atmosphere above the surface of the caves.
In fact, Kai had begun to wonder, during their year together, whether the Angel was invulnerable as well as immortal.
