Chapter 39 - Akari's dream

Akari wakes up in the middle of nothingness. She tries to get up, but her body doesn't respond.

And just a moment later, she realizes she can't even see what's around her.

She starts spreading her light around the place to see, but that doesn't help either.

Her power doesn't work in this world by her commands for some reason...

After just a minute passes, a figure appears out of nowhere, all white like pure milk.

The figure approaches Akari, and without a single thought, it helps her out.

No kicking, no fight, just helping her to stand up for absolutely no reason.

Akari finally stands up and can move freely now. The figure starts walking away as it starts vanishing from the world slowly.

After the white figure vanishes completely, Akari starts moving around searching for some answer, but she doesn't even remember her own name.

Even though she doesn't remember her own name, she still remembers how to use her light powers.

Moments later, the place becomes a fancy mansion alive, instead of just a big, hollow mansion that just exists for the rich.

Akari shows up as a sleepy girl walking around the place with completely closed eyes.

Her mother finds her wandering around the place aimlessly, so she decides to put her back to bed.

The time is still early, the sun hasn't risen yet, and Akari is still in deep sleep mode.

After her mother puts her back, she turns back toward the dining table, where her husband is already sitting in the middle.

They start talking about Akari's future and whether they should accept "that" request.

Another girl was sitting with them without making a single sound, just there listening to everything they said without interrupting. She seems... Familiar?

While the parents are talking to each other, the mysterious girl, who is actually Akari's sister, steps out of the room and walks down the long, wide hallway.

Her face slowly reveals itself from the dark, and the sunlight finally hits.

It's the same girl who blocked the team's path before they reached the portal.

Was she helping the others?

But after she walks for a moment in the hallway, she reaches Akari's room to check on her older sister, who's in a complete death zone.

For some reason, the world feels more realistic here; the last dreams were a little bit blurrier than this one.

Akari... do you know why you are in my world? Sister?

I only want to protect you, sister...

The girl spoke in an awe-filled voice, and she wasn't talking to the sleeping Akari.

She was actually talking to the real Akari, who was standing at the corner of the bedroom.

Then why did you show up? I thought we made a deal not to reveal ourselves.

Kaguya?

Akari replies and approaches her to take a better look at her younger sister, Kaguya.

I was... I was curious, sister... I couldn't hold it in.

I had to check on you...

Kaguya, who is Akari's sister, tries to convince her older sister that she was worried, well, I'm pretty sure that is not the only reason.

Akari takes a deep breath and lets it all out in one big sigh.

Fine, so how are we going to get out of this situation after you stuck us in the dream world? And you know it's harder to confess the truth to them.

Akari asks for a solution, but Kaguya also doesn't know what to do.

Uhm... Just tell them the truth... Not that deep... Right?

Kaguya tries to escape the problem, but her voice cracks, lacking confidence.

Akari takes out another sigh as she looks at her sister with confusion.

Sigh... Just let me reach the nightmare part already. We have to finish this soon and reach the blade.

Akari commands with a lazy voice, knowing well what's coming up next.

Okay, sister...

Kaguya looks at the window for a moment as if trying to imagine the gate there.

Her eyes glow as she raises her arm toward the window.

The window slowly turns into a glowing gate with no handle.

Akari waves at Kaguya as she leaves the memory part and reaches the other side of the gate, which is the maze.

Unlike the rest of the team, she knew where she was going and knew what was coming.

---

meanwhile...

---

Zeka is inside his gate, which is made out of flame, completely different from Liora and the rest.

He walks around with white hair and half-reddish eyes; he's in cursed mode for now, but fully aware, unlike last time.

Zeka looks around and analyzes the place, but he's completely lost.

He walks into a path that ends up at a dead end, and when he turns back, he's on an entirely different path. He walks around again, and he's lost again.

The maze is trying to make him lose his sanity without even realizing it, but he has enough patience not to freak out, yet.

A path after path, step follows step, and he's not even close to the end.

After an hour, he rests on the surface for a bit to relieve his mind.

Zeka looks at the wall for a moment, just to understand why it is made out of his very own powers. He looks at himself again and questions who he is; he doesn't remember a single thing, just the moment he was summoned into this world.

And then something happens...

The wall takes a shape and turns into a similar body, it's Zeka's body, just in a flame form.

He reaches out his hand to touch the body, but he hesitates. Should I really touch it? But what if I got burnt?

He touches it anyway. And right after he slightly touches the face of the body, it disappears.

The maze around him collapsed, and everything around him blacked out.

Zeka starts falling into the blackness at a very slow speed as if gravity is very low. He falls into a small hole that was in the middle of the black, and he starts passing through his entire life at a very slow pace.

The moment he was born.

The moment he was tortured by his cursed father.

And the moment he got the curse from the scientist, hole after hole, memory after memory, and place after place.

Zeka starts hallucinating and sees things that don't exist.

Stars mixed with water and humans mixed with animals.

Zeka hits the ground and immediately gets up to run from the random things that appear out of nowhere.

Even though he's using all his energy to run, he's helplessly running in turtle mode.

Zeka falls into another hole, and this time, he instantly falls and is glued to the floor.

The ground beneath him starts cracking, and Zeka is trying his best to get up, but nothing works...
