Chapter 39 - new magic.

"I don't understand anything..." Natsu commented.

Happy nodded silently while eating a raw fish, and Gray scratched his chin, trying to make sense of what he was looking at.

Several symbols that none of them recognized were written all over the guild library—on the walls as well as the floor itself. At the same time, a group of Finn's clones was reviewing these symbols before returning to their reading. On the other side, another group of clones was checking communication lacrimas, magic books, and inspecting various pieces that Finn had created with his magic.

"This certainly looks a bit complicated," Erza admitted, not understanding in the slightest what Finn was doing. However, she had no plans to leave the library until Finn finished whatever he was doing.

"What are all these symbols?" Gray asked.

"Hmm..." Finn thought for a few seconds, trying to find a simple way to explain fuinjutsu. "It's a special type of script magic... like Levy's, but a bit different."

"Oh! So you can make fire appear and things like that with this magic?" Natsu asked.

"Not exactly, but I can store it and release it at specific times. For example, I can set a bomb that activates when someone stands in front of the symbol," Finn explained.

"I see. I imagine you can also store objects, right?" Erza asked.

Finn nodded his head, focused on the objects in front of him. Suddenly, one of the clones nodded in satisfaction before disappearing, and instantly all the clones and the original Finn nodded in comprehension.

(Archive magic, this is exactly what I was looking for...) Finn thought, satisfied.

At that moment, three other clones disappeared, passing the gathered information to the others. Finn closed his eyes, trying to process all the information under the watchful eyes of Erza and the others.

After a few seconds, the system window opened with a new notification.

Natsu, Gray, and Happy looked at the screen with great interest; they had never seen magic like this before.

The screen seemed to freeze for a few seconds until it closed, and another screen appeared, followed by a strange, spherically shaped magic.

The sphere glowed in a semi-transparent golden tone, and when looked at closely, several words and mini-screens could be distinguished spinning around it.

Communication Magic has been successfully created!!

"Communication magic?" Erza asked curiously, examining the sphere in front of her. "Why do we want something like this if we already have lacrimas?"

"Simple," Finn began before standing up and clapping his hands.

The writings that were all over the library seemed to come to life and began to move toward the objects on the table, embedding themselves into them. Then, the objects began to levitate and fuse together until they turned into a small, dark gray rectangle.

"For this," Finn said, taking the rectangle and shaking it slightly, causing a black, semi-transparent screen to materialize from it.

At that moment, another system window appeared.

The user has successfully created the "Phone"

The user has successfully completed the required task!

Arc of Embodiment magic successfully learned!

Natsu jumped onto the table, looking at the phone in Finn's hands with great interest.

"What is it? What is it used for?" Natsu asked restlessly.

"This, my dear fire-breather, is the combination of several magics that on their own don't seem very useful, but together..." Finn touched one of the icons on the screen before taking a picture of Natsu and showing it to him, "...they will completely change the way we communicate and entertain ourselves."

Natsu took the phone carefully, looking at his photo in it before beginning to explore everything inside until he found out how to record.

"And what does this do? It doesn't seem to be taking pictures, but it seems to be doing something!" Natsu said, pointing the phone all over the library.

"That's a recording. You are recording everything you look at with the phone, and once you stop it, you'll be able to watch what you recorded as many times as you want," Finn explained, taking the phone and ending the recording before playing it back.

"It's like recording cards, but in a small rectangle..." Erza commented, watching the video. "This would be very useful on missions if it could be sent to another person."

Finn smiled at Erza's words and, moving his hand, made another phone appear. With a few clicks, Finn sent the video to the other phone through a message.

"Of course I thought of that!" Finn said with a big smile.

Erza didn't hesitate to snatch one of the phones and begin exploring all its features, sending messages, videos, audio clips, and photos. Erza seemed very satisfied with this new "phone."

————

1 hour later

Everyone in the guild was exploring the new phone created by Finn; it had quickly become a trend among them. In just this hour, they had already discovered how to name their devices, change the screen color, form groups, and block people, just as they had explored other functions of other applications that weren't just for messaging.

They had already discovered what Finn called public networks, where they could post whatever they wanted, and they had even created the private group "Fairy Tail" managed by Master Makarov, who also seemed very happy with his phone.

"I suppose all this information has to be stored somewhere, right?" Makarov asked, watching his wizards talk energetically about the phone.

Finn nodded, sitting next to him.

"That's right, master..." Finn raised his hand, and the sphere created earlier flew out of the library and stopped over Finn's hand.

Makarov extended his hand, and the sphere flew toward him. He examined it for a few seconds, quickly understanding several of its functions with a simple look before looking back at Finn.

"An object like this cannot be carried with you always. If it gets taken from you, you will put the information of many at risk if they figure out how it works," Makarov commented seriously. (Not that it's very complicated to understand it,) Makarov thought.

"Yeah, that's why I was wondering if you had a place where I could leave it?" Finn asked.

Makarov looked at Finn for a few seconds before taking a sip of his beer and moving his head, signaling for him to follow.

Finn quickly followed Makarov through one of the guild doors, and they began to walk down a long flight of stairs, illuminated only by old torches. Finn saw multiple doors as they went down, each one more mysterious than the last from his perspective.

After walking down for a few minutes, Makarov stopped in front of a door, then began to look through the keys he kept in his orange vest. While Makarov searched for the correct key, Finn could see a bright light coming from the bottom of the stairs.

"Master... what is that light?" Finn asked curiously.

"That, my son, is the greatest secret of Fairy Tail..." Makarov opened the door in front of him, but paused, analyzing Finn's curious gaze. "Do you want to go see?"

"It sounds like it's very important," Finn swallowed hard, indecisive.

"It is. Only the master or a candidate for it can know what is down there," Makarov explained calmly.

"Does that mean that if I see it, I would become a candidate for guild master?" Finn asked in amazement, to which Makarov nodded. Without hesitation, Finn pushed the door open in front of them and went inside, leaving that light and the secret behind. "No thanks."

Makarov smiled at Finn's actions before shaking his head and following him into the room where they would store all the information from the phones.

Just as they entered, Makarov clapped, and the room lit up, revealing another library much larger than the one they had upstairs. Finn noticed that the books here were older and much better cared for.

"Here lies the most important information and magics of Fairy Tail. The most dangerous magics gathered by our wizards are found here, including the Three Great Magics of Fairy Tail," Makarov revealed with pride.

"Three Great Magics of Fairy Tail?" Finn asked curiously.

"That's right. Those magics are practically the relics of our guild; those magics are extremely powerful and not just anyone can use them lightly. And now, your creation will be safeguarded here alongside them." Makarov extended his hand, releasing the magic sphere into the center of the room. "The perfect place to contain such important information."

Finn observed the library with fascination once more; he was unaware that there could be so many powerful magics in the world.

In that moment, Finn had an idea, and in front of them, two books materialized—one with the title 'Arc of Embodiment' and another with the title 'Communication Magic'.

Finn took the books and extended them to Makarov, who took them carefully, reading their covers. After a few seconds, Makarov nodded, and the books flew from his hands, placing themselves carefully on different shelves.

"You didn't hesitate to hand over your magics," Makarov commented. "Not many wizards hand over their precious magics just like that."

Finn shrugged, not making a big deal out of it.

"Someday I'll die, and most likely these magics would be lost with me... It's better to leave a record of them for when someone needs them in the future," Finn admitted.

(Because of his magic type, I thought he would hoard magic and knowledge. I couldn't have been more wrong,) Makarov thought, happy that one of his wizards wasn't walking the same path that many wizards walk. (If only Ivan were like this.)

"I would hand over my Take Over if I could, but as you know, that depends more on the user than the magic itself," Finn revealed, making Makarov laugh.

"It relieves my heart that you are the only one who can use that type of Take Over, and I hope nobody obtains it for hundreds of years," Makarov admitted with a smile.

Makarov moved his head, indicating that it was time to leave, and Finn followed him without hesitation.

"Are the Three Great Magics of Fairy Tail very powerful, master?" Finn asked as they climbed the stairs.

"Very. A single one of them can completely turn around a losing war," Makarov answered.

"I see..." Finn said thoughtfully. "I will create one."

"Excuse me?" Makarov asked.

"I will create a Fourth Great Magic of Fairy Tail, master! If used correctly, it will be so powerful that nobody will be able to stop it, not even a dragon!" Finn assured with a big smile.

"Hahaha, you have a grand goal ahead of you, boy. Do you even have an idea of what you want to achieve?" Makarov laughed, thinking that this was nothing more than the dreams of a child, like any other who dreams of being the best wizard.

"Of course, and its name will be Genkidama," Finn said firmly before walking out into the guild hall.
