Ignorance...
The word had been there from the beginning, sitting beside Doubt like a decorative warning, and Kael had treated it as the cause of the real threat. Ignorance bred Doubt. Doubt raised Fracture. That was how he had interpreted it. But the trial had not said only to avoid Doubt. It had said not to fall to Ignorance and Doubt.
Two dangers.
Not one.
Kael let out a tired laugh, though there was no humor in it. He had defeated Doubt so thoroughly that he had settled comfortably inside Ignorance. He had assumed the test was endurance because endurance was something he could handle. He had assumed waiting was enough because waiting while training made sense to him. He had assumed that not panicking meant he was winning, and the Tower had politely allowed him to keep being wrong.
That was annoying.
Worse, it was fair.
