"Where is this place, Brock?" Raj asked after walking for quite some time.
"Here? This is a small pier," Brock replied, looking around. "It's mainly for communication ships returning to the mainland. You'd think a place like this would be good for sightseeing like Blueprucci Beach, but… I don't know why there aren't many tourists here."
"Oh, who cares? Maybe everyone just prefers the rural feel. This is still a city after all," Misty said, stretching. "Anyway, let's get going. We still have to catch the boat!"
Raj pointed to a cruise ship that was already sailing off into the distance. "Uh… is that the ship we're supposed to take?"
"No way!" Misty groaned. "It's over, it's over—we missed it! The next one won't come until tomorrow! What are we going to do?"
The group sat by the dock, distressed, when suddenly a Horsea appeared in the water nearby.
"Wow, it's so cute!" Misty's eyes sparkled—being a Water-type Trainer, she was immediately smitten.
Ash quickly pulled out his Pokédex.
"Horsea, the Dragon Pokémon. A Water-type. It lays thousands of eggs every spring, and the male Horsea take care of them. It's a very rare Pokémon."
Raj frowned slightly. "Weird. Why didn't the system scan it like usual? It didn't react yesterday either. System? Hey, system, you there?"
No response.
"Damn it… what a crappy system. Did it break again?" Raj muttered under his breath.
"This Horsea looks hurt. Look at its eyes," Brock said, crouching down.
"But there's no Pokémon Center nearby!" Misty said anxiously. "We have to treat it somehow."
As she spoke, the Horsea spat out black ink onto the surface of the water, forming faint shapes—like Tentacool and Tentacruel.
Ash and the others were confused, but Misty decided to capture Horsea to help it recover, then ran off toward town to find some healing medicine.
Raj, however, smirked. They don't get it, but I do. That Horsea's warning us… Tentacool and Tentacruel are preparing to attack human settlements for revenge.
After arriving in the city, everyone split up to look for shops.
That's when Raj suddenly heard someone calling out behind him.
"Hey, young man! Wait up!"
He turned and saw a bearded man in a hat and trench coat running toward him, carrying a large, water-filled backpack.
"Are you talking to me, old man?" Raj asked suspiciously. "Do I… know you?"
"Whether you know me or not, you're about to!" The man puffed his chest proudly. "I'm the legendary man everyone loves, flowers bloom when I walk by, and the world rejoices when I appear—"
"Goodbye," Raj interrupted immediately, turning to leave. "I've never seen someone so shameless."
He grumbled internally, 'I mean, sure, I'm handsome, but I don't go around bragging. "Loved by everyone"? Please. Probably just gets flat tires wherever he goes.'
"Hey, kid! Don't leave yet!" the old man cried, chasing after him and grabbing his backpack. "You haven't heard my offer!"
"What's your problem, old man? I'm busy. I don't have time for your nonsense," Raj said irritably.
The man leaned closer. "You look like someone destined for greatness, kid. You'll definitely make your mark on Kanto! But someone like you shouldn't be without a Pokémon worthy of you, right?"
He opened his large, water-filled pack—and inside was a Shiny Magikarp, shimmering golden in the sunlight.
"Behold! The perfect partner for a future champion!"
Raj blinked. "You've got to be kidding me. You think I'm going to dominate Kanto… with that?"
He sighed. He knew shiny Pokémon were rare—but not all shinies were useful. Magikarp, for instance, were everywhere. And their evolution? Nearly impossible without patience—or power.
Still… Gyarados, he thought. Once evolved, it's a monster. And if the system ever starts working again, I could get an item to help it evolve.
The man noticed Raj's hesitation and leaned in eagerly. "You're interested, huh? Don't hesitate! This Magikarp's proportions are perfect! Shiny too—super rare! If it weren't for fate, I wouldn't even sell it!"
He puffed his chest again. "You know, I once sold a Magikarp to a guy named James from Team Rocket. But that idiot didn't appreciate its true value—I lost money because of him!"
Raj stared at him for a moment before realizing who he was. Wait… this is the legendary Magikarp Salesman!
He was torn. Gyarados was tempting, but evolving one was expensive—and his system points were low.
The man continued, "Don't worry, Magikarp's easy to raise. Feed it, love it, maybe it'll evolve before you know it! Then you'll strike gold!"
Raj sighed. "Fine. How much?"
"Only 150,000 Pokédollars!" the man said with a grin.
Raj nearly spat blood. "150,000?! Uncle, why don't you just rob a bank?! Magikarp out there sell for pocket change!"
He turned to leave. The man panicked. "Wait! Don't go! We can negotiate, okay?! Bargain with me at least!"
"10,000," Raj said flatly.
The man gawked. "You're insane! You can't just—"
"10,000 or I walk." Raj's eyes narrowed. At the same time, he quietly released Haunter from his Poké Ball.
"Haunter," Raj whispered, "use Hypnosis."
The man froze mid-protest, his expression slack. Then, as if possessed, he muttered, "Fine… 10,000 it is. I'll sell it to you at a loss…"
Raj smirked. "Good. Now hand it over—and you can stop scamming people from now on."
The man nodded blankly. "Yes… I understand."
Raj took the Poké Ball containing the Shiny Magikarp, hiding a satisfied grin.
He turned toward the city, where Ash and the others were waiting.
