Chapter 70 - Fall

[1st POV]

I'm back.

That was a weak moment for me. Perhaps it was due to the sudden loss of power from being reborn in hell. The vacuum left behind after a new restart could not be underestimated. My whole being was consumed by the desire to eat and grow stronger. After my first meal, I lost my sense of self and allowed my primal instincts to take over.

But now I'm back.

Because now, I had the same level of power that I had just before I died.

Although I didn't eat any super-powerful devils like the Darkness Devil, the Control Devil or the Accident Devil, the sheer quantity of weaker devils I consumed made up for it. At this point, I didn't know my powers or abilities since I never had time to explore or get used to them.

This was just my raw power.

"Grgh, Guak, Snooargg," my voice echoed through the now-empty dimension.

Maybe because I hadn't consumed any humans, but I couldn't turn into a human anymore. I was in my pig form, or I should say my true form.

I was glad there were no mirrors in hell. I sure wouldn't like to see my ugly ass. The brief glimpses of my image in my victims' eyes were enough to scare the shit out of me.

There were scary-looking things, and there were ugly-looking things. But I was both. I was so ugly and grotesque that I looked scary. My current appearance couldn't be described either, since I looked so complex. To describe me, you would have to describe perhaps a million different-looking devils.

Everything I had eaten so far had reflected on my body. I was big too. No, big was not big enough of a word. Gigantic, Titanic, Humongous did a slightly better job at describing my size.

But hell was a giant space of void, so I never felt too big or out of space here. It felt good if I was being honest, like I was allowed to spread all my limbs instead of being restrained by a small body.

Hell. After much exploration, I had a pretty good idea what it was like. The best way to describe it would be like those infinity paintings. You know, those TikTok videos where digital artists drew multiple paintings in one image. You can zoom in forever and you will find many different things there.

I was reborn in the smallest part, one which no longer held any place within it, and I was slowly making my way out and ascending into a bigger picture.

Hopefully, I had not caught the attention of the Darkness Devil or any powerful Devil during my rampage. I wasn't sure if that would be a good thing or a bad thing. Maybe being reborn back in the human world would have its pros. Regardless, I was glad not to have died again.

I headed towards one of the many doors in hell. This door was unnaturally large, much larger than the others. The scent that came from the door was also the most attractive. Usually, my sense of smell led me towards the most suitable meal, a devil that was strong but not strong enough to pose danger for me.

Weak Devils or significantly more powerful Devils gave off a bad smell.

The moment I nudged the door, I was sucked inside. My previous dimension collapsed since I had already eaten the previous owner.

Different dimensions exist in hell. It was kinda like a Domain Expansion of the devils that lived there. They were significantly more powerful in their domain, and the environment suited them too.

The moment I entered the new dimension, my eyes widened at the sudden weightlessness. I was engulfed in water. My sense of smell and sight were also robbed from me. Everything was dark and I could feel immense pressure all throughout my body.

I was at the bottom of an ocean.

Now what type of devil could possibly have a domain like this? Was it the Tsunami Devil? I had already regained my previous power so what could be considered a delicious meal would be strong. The Tsunami Devil seemed likely.

Or maybe it was just the Ocean Devil.

Immediately, the universe vibrated. I could feel my whole body shaking. The immense vibration was enough to rattle what felt like every cell of my body. That, coupled with the immense pressure of the ocean, made me spill blood all over.

And as if my blood had awakened something, yellowish-orange light engulfed me.

Eyes.

No, an eye.

An eye that was so humongous that I could fit in its pupil. It was staring right at me. The dim light it gave off was enough to make everything alight, like flames in the ocean. I did not feel myself shrinking when entering this dimension.

Which could only mean that this creature or devil was large beyond measure.

If my current size was as big as its eye, perhaps this Devil was as large as the country of Japan, if not larger.

Such a behemoth. Forget about comprehending it, you wouldn't be able to imagine its size. You could only imagine its scale and facts.

After the eye opened, the whole ocean also lit up. From the bottom of the ocean, now it felt like I was at the shallow part of the ocean. It was blue and bright. The whole dimension seemed to respond to this Devil. It was night when it was asleep and day when it was awake.

But even after it became bright, I couldn't see the Devil. My vision was nowhere near enough to capture its whole size.

But from what I saw, it was a giant whale.

With a violent and quick movement that you couldn't imagine, it snapped its jaw at me. The sheer force of the movement sent me away. But I was pulled in almost immediately, like there was a black hole at the back of its throat.

And then darkness came again.

I was eaten.

The jaw crushed me into a paste before swallowing me whole. But that wasn't the end of me. I quickly regenerated inside its stomach and began eating the devil from the inside. It made a very big mistake swallowing me like this.

The stomach tried to kill me. Acid that could dissolve steel like cotton candy spewed out, and the muscles inside its body tried to squeeze me dead. I would have probably died after a while, unable to bear so many lethal injuries. But as I kept eating, I gained fuel to keep regenerating.

I didn't know how long had passed since we began eating each other, but I suspected that it went on for days.

As I ate the Devil, I slowly realized what it was.

The Great Fish.

The Whale Devil.

But it wasn't your average animal-type Devil. The whale had a strong connection with many fish. The fish that ate Jonah from the Bible. Ketos from Greek mythology. Aspidochelone, the creature mistaken by sailors for an island due to its massive size and many more.

In a sense, this behemoth was similar to me. Instead of gaining strength from the fear of the literal animal, it gained strength from the myths and beliefs around it. This Devil embodied the idea of Leviathan itself.

When you pit a powerful devil against a similarly powerful devil that could grow, it was obvious who would come out as the victor.

I did.

After what felt like forever, I ate enough of the Devil to consume its power and authority. Immediately after that, the water in the dimension vanished and everything became void once more.

There was nothing.

It was odd considering this space used to house such a behemoth. Even sound seemed too mindful to be loud, as if it were a mere guest in this land of concepts. It was an odd contrast. The Whale Devil had been so noisy with its vibration during our collision.

Slowly, I turned my head towards another door with the most wonderful scent.

And another routine followed.

Eat, eat, eat, eat and eat some more.

Consume everything, become everything.

Hell. I was faced with the scary realization that this place was nothing but a fridge with endless cupboards for me.

[1st POV]

A door.

Crocodile Devil.

Another door.

Earthquake Devil.

Another door.

Volcano Devil.

Another door.

Failure Devil.

It was powerful. But so were the Betrayal Devil and the Pain Devil.

Another door.

Lion Devil.

Another door.

Disease Devil.

Another door.

Cancer Devil.

Another door.

Human Devil.

And another.

Blindness Devil, Space Devil, Poison Devil, and God Devil. Those were my last meals. They were good. But the rest that followed were simply snacks. Some not even worth considering as snacks.

At that point, nothing smelled good anymore. I didn't know how time passed here in hell but it felt like years now. Before, I was surrounded by wonderful foods but now it felt like I was settling for spoiled meals.

Another door.

"Ah, long time no see," I said when I came to a desolate dimension. The whole place was filled with many deaths and accidents.

The Accident Devil.

"Were you always this weak?"

The reply that greeted me came in the form of a baby wailing. I think it attacked me too, but it was too minor to notice. I finished this meal in just a few minutes.

Again, there was void after I ate everything.

I always felt lonely when this happened.

It was like post nut clarity almost.

I looked around at all the doors hanging in the sky. I remembered that there used to be countless, but now it felt like you could count them.

Like I said before, nothing smelled good anymore so I picked a random door.

Maybe that was a mistake.

If I had thought a bit more, I'd have noticed that the way this door smelled bad wasn't like how the others did. Or maybe not. I think that slight difference was exactly why I picked the door.

Most doors didn't smell good because they were too small to be considered a meal. This smell was because it was too big to be a meal.

The moment I entered the new dimension, one word sounded and one word happened.

Fall.

"Oh, what a beautiful thing you are,"

I heard the voice say as I fell.
