In this short time, I have found friends, fled to a new country, and become an adventurer. On top of that, I almost died, but I survived thanks to the magic "Existence and Life" and met Lisa, who explained everything to me about how it all works. From now on, the story begins of the human foreseen by a legend, and how he becomes the nightmare of his enemies and defies the law itself.
"Then here we go," I say quietly to myself as the sun slowly rises. I can already hear the masses of people running in the streets. I already see Suri, Mia, and Luna leaving the house—this time not towards the Guild. Well, my idea with this action anyway was that they would head back to Lagoon, since they must have some kind of new memory since they forgot me. Hopefully, nothing will happen to them once they arrive in Lagoon, though it might take a while until they get there. After all, back then we only made it here unscathed thanks to me. But the girls are far stronger than they were then, so I think they will make it.
I pack my sleeping bag into the dimension hole that establishes itself right in front of me. It appears before me like a vortex. I fold the sleeping bag correctly, looking like a roll. I pack it inside. The dimension hole closes again in a vortex shape. However, I would like to know how strong I am without this erasure. I open my status. The number next to Strength is 7 digits: 1,329,000. That is the number standing there. I look thoughtfully into the air while the three girls giggle among themselves.
"Hey Luna, are you ready to go to Lagoon?" Mia asks with a worried face, which is understandable. After all, that is Luna's home, and her father, the King, lives there. But I'm interested in what they remember. So far, they see me as a stranger, but who did they save in their memories then?
"Suri, they wanted to execute you because you protected beastmen," Luna says with a thoughtful face. I notice that Suri didn't actually transform back into a beastman, but only got her hair and eye color. Does that mean Suri was never actually a beastman? I walk parallel to them, but they are on the street while I am on the roofs of the city.
"Then let's go," Suri says with a smile. I watch them, then look back into the air where the sun is now high up. If I still had the power to feel emotions, I would probably cry. I hope my entire plan works out. If it works, they will remember me. I start walking relaxed with my hands in my cloak pockets. The girls talk casually with each other without noticing me.
"That guy from the Guild, what was his name again?" Luna speaks as if she is seriously thinking about what my name is.
"His name was Min and he had red hair with violet eyes," Suri says with a voice that shows she is very sure. I look at them while listening to what they say with a hearing skill. It is definitely good that they are already talking about me. They arrive at the city gate while I land on the wall. With a stealth skill, I sneak past all the guards on the walls. Logically, one isn't actually allowed to be here. I jump down and run from now on with the stealth skill, plus a concealment spell with suppressed mana for safety. My current mana would be far too large to reveal even a little bit of it. My mana is truly 10 times as large as it was before the orc fight.
"It will take some time, about 3 days I think," Luna says with a smile, as she is happy to be going back to her home country, and her hometown at that. With the knowledge in my head that I want to go there too—does that have something to do with each other? The girls step through the gate. They walk towards the forest, opposite the forest where I destroyed everything. I am already waiting on the branch of a tree at the very beginning of the forest path.
I watch the girls, who are already on guard for monsters. I watch how alert they are. A simple goblin jumps out of the thick trees, followed by 20 others.
"Mia, Suri, I want to do this, please," Luna says by reflex, as if her inner self knows I am watching and she wants to show me how good she is. I write it off as a coincidence. I think for a moment and then take something from the dimension hole, which appears again like a vortex—I reach in, a black mist comes out—I take out a dagger that shimmers black. From now on, I will get serious and fight with two daggers, then I will be at full strength. The dagger is hung in the dagger pouch on my right hip, while the turquoise shimmering one hangs on my left hip.
Luna enters a fighting stance. Luna holds her left hand on the rapier and her right leaned back, her left leg forward ready to sprint, her right leg just as I taught her. This is even more painful than Lisa's death. Why did it have to come to this? My thoughts are flooded with tears, but I look like a heartless asshole. I jump away so I can be alone for a moment.
"I just want to fight and talk with them... I have to make it, they have to remember me again," I say softly to myself. My voice is tearful and my face is empty and cold. I slide down the back of the tree.
Luna sprints at the goblins, who stand in fighting positions with broad grins and their knives. Luna effortlessly pierces 10 of them, while the other 10 skillfully dodge. While I cower on the ground, the girls are fully focused on going to the capital of Limbora: Lagoon, where the story began. Luna catches her breath for a moment. A goblin tries to attack her from behind. Suri takes out her bow. She places a normal arrow, draws the bow, and the arrow streaks toward the goblin. The arrow pierces him from behind, while Mia draws the katana and, without anyone seeing it, she sheathes the katana again as the remaining 9 goblins fall over drenched in blood.
I slowly calm down while the girls smile with satisfaction at having defeated a few goblins right away.
"We have all of this... wait, who do we have to thank for it?" Mia says hesitantly, while the other two shrug their shoulders and I stand back up.
"Ourselves... I thought we taught it to ourselves," Suri says with a certain voice, yet hesitating, as if she is unsure after all. I head back towards the tree while the girls are slowly of the opinion again that it was they themselves who trained. I look at the ground without changing my expression. The girls walk on with a smile. After a short time, they start humming like bees, but in a beautiful rhythm, like in a piece of music. I look at them, and they don't notice me. How could they? After all, I am virtually undetectable.
I continue behind the trees, which are becoming denser. After a short time, we arrive at the mountains where I defeated the grizzly back then. Will I get the opportunity again? I jump with one leap onto a high mountain that spreads over the entire valley. I see a boy in the forest who is currently losing against orcs. I jump onto a hill next to the girls and then further toward the orcs. I land exactly in front of the boy, who is sitting on the ground in fear and almost starting to cry. I stand in front of him and look at him with empty eyes, but I give a thumbs up so he knows I mean no harm and only want to save him.
"I'll save you, kid," I say, determined to try out my new power. There are 2 orcs. I can kill one physically and the other magically, but from now on I have to hold back with magic, otherwise there will be more than just a crater here. I take both daggers with my left and right hand. The daggers are crossed, harmonizing beautifully with the colors black and turquoise.
I move one step and appear directly behind the right orc in just a fraction of a second. Blood drips from my blades. The orc begins to bleed from the neck. I swing both my daggers to the side, and the blood is flung to the ground. The boy looks at me with wide eyes. I turn to the other one. My body begins to glow in white, red, blue, yellow, and black. I run toward the orc, who stumbles backward in fear, causing a small pressure wave to shoot toward me. I walk right through it. A magical wave goes through the forest, up to the mountains and to the canyon.
"What was that?" Mia asks fearfully as they feel the wave of magic. The other two also look fearfully in the direction where I am standing. I continue toward the orc. My mana stays close to me. Around me, water lances, electric swords, fire arrows, ice crystals, and darkness orbs appear. I look at the orc. The magic flies toward him. The water lances hit the orc first, creating holes in his arms. The darkness orbs pierce his legs, the fire arrows his neck. He should already be dead, but I'm playing it safe.
The boy behind the orc gets some blood on him. His sky-blue hair is covered with blood. The electric swords pierce his entire body. I dispel the ice crystals since they won't do anything for me. The orc falls completely to the ground while the boy recovers from the shock of the orcs. I go to him and see the blood on his hair. I clean it with water magic. My magical aura disappears as I look at the wounds on his arms and legs. The wounds slowly close while he smiles thankfully. It is perhaps better if I don't follow the girls, to get my mind off things. Peace returns to the girls since my mana can no longer be felt.
"That was a stronger aura than with the Star Orc Lord," Luna says with a trembling voice while I help the boy up. The girls continue and arrive at the place where I defeated the grizzly back then.
"Hey Luna, this is where you defeated the grizzly," Suri says with a joyful smile.
"Yes, that was a tough fight," Luna says with a face that shows uncertainty. Meanwhile, I look at the boy, who is brushing off the dirt.
"Where were you going, actually?" I ask the boy, who is currently parting his hair in the middle. The boy thinks for a moment about whether he should tell me, but after all, I saved his life, so he claps his palms against his cheeks.
"I... I have to go to Lagoon," he says with a hesitant and childish voice. I look at him more closely with an emotionless face, even though I would love to smile right now. I reach out a hand, which he looks at in surprise.
"Come, I have to go there too," I say. The boy looks at me and then takes it with a hesitant smile. I nod parallel with the boy. We start walking, away from the orc corpses. We go into the thickening forest while the girls walk along the narrow path of the mountains. The adventure hasn't been going on long and I've already found a new friend again. I look briefly into the air.
"Let's see what the future will bring," I say softly to myself. The boy looks at me briefly in confusion, but apparently, he didn't notice what I said. What interests me: what his name is.
"What is your name, actually? I am Min," I ask the boy, who looks directly at me.
"My name is Milo," he says with a hesitant voice that also sounds slightly uncertain, while his gray-green eyes shimmer in the sunlight. I look forward again. A small place appears where there is a bench. I point to it.
"Let's take a break there," I say with a joyful voice, though my joyful voice doesn't match my desolate and cold face. Milo looks at the bench and nods with a smile. We go to the bench, sit down, and relax.
