The man stared at Ye Hua intensely; seeing the confusion on Ye Hua's face, he thought of how deep in thought Ye Hua must be. He sighed, deciding to let it slide.
"Try to remember what exactly happened after you went on that stroll."
How does this guy even—whatever. My head hurts from just thinking about it. He must be some kind of stalker. Anyway, I really don't get him!
"Whatever do you mean?"
"Are you really that clueless?"
"Sir, I do not know what you are talking about."
The man raised a brow and hummed,
"Very well. If you do not know, then I shall not say anything."
Ye Hua had paid attention to what he said; his eyes widened a bit as he realized there was a meaning to the man's words. He stared at the man directly, subtly shocked. He did not speak.
Does this man know who I am? No, that can't be; I'm just dreaming…right? Haha. Yeah, I'll wake up soon enough.
…
But what if I'm not dreaming? Does he know that I'm not the current Yè Hua from this life? This man is too suspicious. I might get killed if someone finds out I'm not the original Ye Hua. Well, one thing's for sure, this man knows something I don't.
Just my luck.
After the small pause, the man spoke in a quiet tone, which snapped Ye Hua back from his thoughts that were running.
"To remember things, that shall lead you to the truth."
Truth? What truth? What the hell does he mean? Stop speaking in riddles, you unfairly handsome guy! He thinks he could say whatever he wants just because of his face. Hah!
The man's tone was really low, as if not wanting to let anyone hear, but thankfully the man was quite close to Ye Hua's side, and Ye Hua had been able to hear what he said.
Why do I feel like he knows something? He seems like he knows where I'm truly from and who I really am. What the hell does he want from me?He clearly knows something that I don't. Well, obviously he knows something that I don't. I'm a victim here!
Hopefully, he'll help me. Well, might as well test the waters.
"Ahem…what do you mean by that?"
"I mean, that you are not yourself."
Bingo. He knows, right? I'm screwed.
"What do you mean by that? "
"That you are not the Ye Hua that I know. You are him, but are not at the same time."
Fuck. Shit. I'm going to die here, right? That's usually how it goes in movies? I'm going to be executed on the spot, right? Shit, shit, shit.
"Do not worry. You are…safe, for now at least."
The words made Ye Hua shiver as he snapped out of his panic. He calmed himself down; he wanted to know what exactly was happening. If he were truly dreaming, if this was his reality now.
"Who exactly are you, and how do you know what happened to me?"
"To know who I am, you'll need to find out for yourself."
"Stop speaking in riddles. You know who I am, don't you?"
Ye Hua dropped his act the moment he found out that the man knew. He knew the man was being suspicious, but he could not keep pretending when he could get the answers he wanted from the man.
After a small pause the man continued and said,
"Once you know what happened, then you'll find out who I am."
"Hey. I'm not joking here. I woke up in this body so suddenly. I do not know this place or who these people are. So how about you tell me what's going on, you creep?"
"Oh? So that's what happened."
The man was not bothered by Ye Hua's attitude; in truth, he felt intrigued by him.
"Answer me. You clearly know something."
"Very well, this happens once every two hundred years, sometimes more than two hundred."
"What? Explain properly."
"What I mean is, you'll be in my care for the time being."
"What the fuck? "
The man smiled; it was, however, cold. Almost calculating. He turned to leave, but before he left, he stepped to face Ye Hua and said,
"Don't think too hard; the answer will come eventually, just relax. Just know that I am not someone who'll hurt you."
"Yo–!"
Before Ye Hua could drag his aching body to chase him, the man had already turned his back and left, leaving Ye Hua stunned with his body weak.
"Haa…"
I can't believe this is happening. That weird guy. I swear. Will he even help me? Can I trust him with this? Well, he didn't exactly harm me; if he did, I would've died by now. What am I supposed to do?
Ye Hua felt as if a huge burden had been dropped onto him. He wanted to know more, but he knew he couldn't let curiosity get the best of him. After all, knowing too much would only lead to trouble.
There must be a reason why that said he wouldn't harm me. He's hiding his true identity too. I can feel it. Ha… he gives me the creeps.
Finally, after thinking things through, he figured to just sit back and relax while he was here.
Well, it wouldn't do me any good if I keep on worrying about this. That guy did say the answers will come eventually. I'll just enjoy my time here, not like I had anything to lose from my previous one. I'll live as this Ye Hua until I can get back. Yeah, this is better than stressing.
Ye Hua walked outside; he then saw someone dressed similarly to the guy who brought and served tea earlier and figured he could call the person over.
"Excuse me!"
The servant was startled and rushed over to Ye Hua.
"Young Master, please get inside! It is cold and you are still recovering!"
"I'm really fine. I want to go outside; please bring me some clothes."
"Young Master, I'm sorry, but I cannot allow that."
"Who are you to allow me?"
"Ah…" The servant was slightly shocked but quickly just bowed her head to Ye Hua.
Well, great, I'm a jerk.
"It's just that… Young Master is still recovering. And it is also already late in the afternoon. It will be dark soon. I would suggest just resting and then take your time to look around tomorrow."
Right… there's always the next day… I feel like an idiot.
"I apologize for being rude. I follow what you say, then. Uhm? What is your name?"
