Chapter 1 - Walking through a cobalt sky

Yè Huā¹ was out for a stroll, and the night sky looked magical. In the midst of staring, he had asked himself if this world he was in was just a fantasy; the scenery was enlightening, the moon shined bright—what bad could happen in a glittering night?

Ye Hua stopped for a moment, admiring the view. After a few moments of getting caught in the beautiful scenery, he promptly composed himself and looked around to make sure he didn't embarrass himself. Thankfully, no one was there.

Odd. Usually places like these are filled with people.

The cool wind swiftly blew; his clothes billowed for a short moment, making him shiver slightly. For him, it was the perfect place to be alone and enjoy the peaceful solitude it brought. He stayed there for a while, enjoying the cool breeze brushing through his pale skin. This was an occurrence that only happens once in a blue moon. His shoulders relaxed, and he found himself closing his eyes briefly.

A small smile crept into his face while feeling the wind's breeze. He slowly opened his eyes; it was peaceful. He checked his watch and saw the time; it was late. Very late. He realized that it was about time he went home; slowly, he started walking back, still feeling the cool breeze bristling through his hair.

He continued to walk, and soon after, he reached his house. Ye Hua decided to rest and freshen up. He got ready to go to bed, and lying down on the soft mattress, he felt relaxed as the softness of the mattress enveloped his body. He should have slept, but somehow he could not feel sleepy. He felt a strange surge of energy in his body, and it kept him restless. After lying and staring at the ceiling for a while, Ye Hua decided to get up and grab his phone, hoping that it would tire him out, so he decided to read a web novel. After a few hours had passed, Ye Hua's eyes drooped low, he yawned, and he slowly fell asleep.

The next morning, Ye Hua woke up to a woman calling his name. The voice was loud as if shocked from happiness. The woman hugged him and introduced herself as his mother, yet was she really his mother? Her voice was different, yet he felt a sense of familiarity; her presence made him feel safe. Ye Hua was left baffled. Shocked and still in the process of understanding the information he had just received, he could not refute the woman's embrace, nor could he say anything.

"Everyone! My son has finally woken up!"

"Young Master Ye Hua has finally woken up!"

Both the woman and an attendant exclaimed they were delighted that he had woken up.

Young master!? What the hell did they mean!?

Ye Hua was still quite unconscious and still couldn't see properly; his eyes were still droopy, and his head ached badly. A strange feeling stirred in his body; he felt as if he had gone through a massive shock that left his body irked.

Why the hell do I feel like this? Dammit. It hurts like hell.

After a few minutes, Ye Hua had composed himself; his body was still hurting and his eyes still blurred, making it hard to think clearly. He looked at the person who forced him into an embrace, trying to make out a face. It was a woman who looked 40 to 45 years old, clad in a faint blue embroidered gown. He saw teardrops falling from her cheeks as she was smiling at him.

"Ma'am, are you ok? Did something bad happen?"

The woman was still shedding her tears, trying to compose herself. She let go of Ye Hua, letting out a small gasp as if she was in shock. Her expression quickly changed as relief washed over her face.

Son? What the hell?

"Pardon? Sorry, but you must be mistaken. I'm not your son. May I ask where I am?"

Why the hell am I talking this way?

"Do you not remember me? I'm your mother!"

The woman had gone silent, tugging at Ye Hua's sleeve. The revelation of her son not being able to remember led her to be in disbelief. This emotion soon turned into worry, and it could clearly be seen on her face; however, after a few moments she composed herself and spoke again.

"Do you not remember me, my son?"

Obviously. Hell, I don't even know you. Just what the hell is she talking about?

"Apologies, but I really don't know who you are, ma'am. So...can I ask? Uh, where am I? And why are you saying that you're my mother?"

The woman fell into silence; she tried hard to think of a response, but her emotions were getting the better of her. The pain and happiness of knowing he woke up from his coma yet could not remember left her feeling sorrowful.

"I see…Do you really not remember?" The woman asked him again.

Remember? What the hell… This must be one hell of a dream, well, if it is one.

Ye Hua thought as he tried to process what was happening. He wanted to slap and tell himself to wake up if ever he was dreaming; however, his aching body was weak and could not let him do so.

"My son, you got into an accident and were injured. It left you in a coma for months."

"Ma'am, please stop speaking so formally; I can't understand you."

Haa...This is a lot to process.

An… accident? That never happened before.

Just what the hell is happening?!

Ye Hua decided to pinch himself, thinking it would wake him up to reality, yet this action only left him hurt. He decided to slap his wrist as hard as he could, but it only left him feeling the pain, leaving a red mark on his skin. His action left the woman speechless and utterly frozen in place.

Shit. Am I not dreaming?

The woman stared at him, clearly worried for Ye Hua; however, she could not move to stop him because of how shocked she was.

"I should have never let you go by yourself."

The woman finally spoke, blaming herself for the accident that happened. Seeing her cry with regret and blaming herself, Ye Hua couldn't help but ask, "Ma'am? Are you sure you're really my mother?"
