Gerald wheezed, kneeling on the ground as he leaned back. He tried standing up, but even moving a single muscle felt like his entire body was being burned and twisted from the inside out—and looking at his arms, which were now completely darkened like soot, that was probably the case.
And whatever wasn't black was incredibly pale, seemingly devoid of any blood. Still, even with this, Gerald had the strength and tenacity to raise his thumb, smiling at Adam before he completely dropped to the ground.
Well, not completely. A dark arm wrapped over his shoulders before he could hit the ground—an even darker pair of wings, flapping from his back.
