"So you're saying you went back to your flat after getting a mocha at the Production building and walked there through the old parking garage?" Charles's voice filled the backstage dressing room.
The room was empty now. No contestants, no managers, no staff—only Charles seated in a chair and the blonde girl standing before him with her blue eyes lowered and her hands clasped behind her back.
"Yes," Kaija replied quietly.
"And you fell asleep the moment you got there, only waking up fifteen minutes ago before rushing here?"
"Yes."
Charles stared at her for several long seconds. "Do you really expect me to believe something like that?"
Kaija finally lifted her gaze. "What do you mean?"
"How did you even get access to the parking garage?" he asked. His voice remained calm, but there was a dangerous edge beneath it. "That area has been closed longer than you've been at KE."
"I got the key card from Antony," Kaija answered without hesitation.
