"Freaking crazy Charles," Kaija muttered under her breath as she made her way toward the Performance Building.
The memory alone was enough to make her grind her teeth.
After keeping her trapped in his arms all night, Charles had somehow found the audacity to steal another ten minutes of her morning with a kiss before finally leaving her flat. For a moment, Kaija had genuinely thought the man was about to start everything all over again.
Instead, he had merely rested his forehead against hers and whispered a soft, broken, "I'm sorry."
Then he had forced himself out the door.
Just like that.
Leaving Kaija standing in stunned silence, with her thoughts in complete disarray and a fresh wave of irritation burning through her chest.
