As I get back home after talking a good stroll around the city while covering myself like a celebrity, I returned back a bit late, the clone body I left to watch over Juvia, I didn't want her to have any misfortune because she just choose to be my personal maid .
The clone was connected to me, if anything were to happen I would instantly be alarmed and can order for it to directly solve the problem, fortunately it seem that there was no need for that, I canceled the clone and entered the apartments, only to see that Juvia was dead asleep on the couch, while muttering my name in her sleep .
I had informed her that I was going to take a stroll around the city, but hadn't told her to wait for me or that I might be late, so she could at least go to bed without worrying about me, she slept here while waiting for me to come back, drooling because of that .
Helping her up to her bed, I managed to do it without waking her up, then I changed my clothes and spent some time admiring the ceiling while wondering what could exactly will the Clubs Recruitment Week will have in store for me .
The moment I closed my eyes, I too allowed my brain to log off thinking for a while and slept all the way to the morning of the next day, I woke up as usual before Juvia, but the girl didn't seem to stop trying to wake me up, seeing that I wasn't in the room, she quickly went on to check whether I have came back at all since yesterday .
She saw me making breakfast in the kitchen and I saw her finally catching her breath and sighing in relief, I completely able to read and understand her thoughts, first apologized for what happened yesterday and I was preparing breakfast for her as a way to compensate for that .
She was sulking over the fact that I wasn't supposed to be doing something like that, but I convinced her with telling her that I had grown some interest in learning culinary arts, so this was actually my first time doing this and I wanted her to judge my progress .
Only when I said this, did she finally stopped sulking and she directly sat in a corner and watched me preparing the breakfast, I told her that she should go and take a bath while I finish preparing everything here, but her answer was :
I will watch over Master as to not let him get burned or worse end up cutting himself up .
Her worries were completely unfounded, but since she insisted on staying and watching with that messy hair of hers, there was little that I can do to convince her, the meal was prepared a few minutes later, serving her a portion and telling her to try it out made her eyes go all shiny for some reason .
After she took the first bite, her eyes directly had stars appear in them and she looked to be currently having a bliss all of a sudden .
" So how do you find it ? .
Only after I asked her to state her opinion did she seem to wake up from her weird state, her eyes turned teary as she said :
Extremely Delicious, but you might have need to be careful with the salt .
Well, for a first try, mistakes are bound to happen, how in the world would I be able to tell the amount of salt she preferred, I nodded my head and started to dig in the omelette crusted sandwich myself and surely enough the salty taste is completely fine to me, but to others it might give them a bitter than sour taste, well it's noted .
But I hope Master would still let me the one to prepare breakfast from time to time ? .
After she finished her share, she said this and looked quite nervous while she was talking, clearly able to understand what she was trying to say, I couldn't help but smirk seeing her current attitude and say :
" What are you talking about silly girl, you still have to prepare our meals, I was just a bit free and wanted to busy my hands with some new experiment, but the Kitchen responsibility is all yours .
As I said this, her face suddenly cleared up and she seemed to be completely content with this arrangement, she directly thank me for putting her in my consideration and surprisingly asked if she could get the recipe of the sandwich to make it for us later .
I presented her with another serve of the sandwich and her eyes instantly gleamed, I couldn't help but laugh seeing her like this and believed myself to be able to see all her thoughts clearly like as if I was seeing the back of my hand .
She got hooked on the taste of that sandwich and wanted to try and make one herself real quick, that's the reason she asked for the recipe, so I gave her another serve and while she savored the taste of the sandwich I found a piece of paper and record the recipe for her .
After the eventful early morning breakfast, we both put our school uniform and I managed to see that her bag was a bit cramped and seemed to be stuffed to its absolute limit, I asked her about it, curious to know what did she put in there .
Well, after finding out my answer, I couldn't tell what exactly should I be feeling, she had already brought her maid costume with her in the bag, the Maids Cosplay Club actually demanded an audition from those who tried to join the club, she was going to give it a try, so of course she will be getting an audition .
Shaking my head in silence, we headed to the school and along the way we ran into a few acquaintances, Mizuki and Erica was standing by the gate at this early hour of the day, I couldn't help but wonder what exactly were they up to .
Me noticing them allowed them to notice us as well, one lively greeted us, the other merely frowned at me and then greeted Juvia enthusiastically, I wonder if today will be the day to finally crack the mystery behind her giving me the cold shoulder .
" What exactly are the two of you doing here at this early hour ? .
Erica :
Well, the short answer would be it's none of your business .
Mizuki :
Erika-chan, sorry for that Ryuu-san, she was acting out like this since we ran into Watanabe Mari senpai earlier, we came early as to try and escape the crowds setting up stalls for the Club Recruitment Day, today .
Erika :
Mizuuuuki, you said too much .
" Well, I think that the two of you had some really good idea, I did hear that a lot of problem do tend to happen due to the huge crowd .
Mizuki :
It was my idea .
The girl blurted this out involuntarily as if she was asking to be praised, I was able to tell due to her expression suddenly turned from boasting to sheepishness in an instant, before I say anything, the orange red haired girl stomped the grounds with her feet and said looking quite frustrated :
That woman must have told the janitors to not let us in, it must be her doing to humiliate me, let's go Mizuki, we will found another way in, I wasn't interested before, but since that woman want to challenge me, then I will accept her challenge .
Mizuki :
I hope you aren't thinking of doing something illegal Erika-chan, oh right, what are the two of you even doing here ? .
Just as I was about to answer, a surprised voice came from behind us and was saying :
Oh, what a wonderful coincidence this is .
Turning around, I saw Miyuki and Tatsuya making their way towards us as well, unlike with me, Erica did end up greeting the two enthusiastically, Tatsuya just nodded his head and after exchanging a few pleasant greetings, he stood beside me leaving the four girls to their own talk .
How far did your research come ? .
A telepathic message suddenly found its destination to me and I couldn't help but glance at him and it didn't even took me a second before realizing that he might have already reported it to Major General Saeki, but it didn't bother me much anyway, so I just said telepathically to him :
" I'm in advanced stage with my research, in fact I could start to do the actual experiment any time I want .
I would have suggested that you should drop such an experiment, but knowing you, all I can do is to ask you to be careful and don't let anyone know about your plan .
Hearing him, I was a bit surprised at being wrong in suspecting that he already reported me, but from his concern warning, it seem that he haven't yet at least, I gave a simple nod and asked if he got any progress on the task I assigned to him, his expression turned a bit weird, then he coughed a bit and refused to share what he found with me .
I squinted my eyes at him and he only said that I should be the one to figure it out on my own, which made me even more suspicious, I turned to look at my target and she had enough sharp senses to sense me looking at her, but I didn't expect that a blush would appear on her face, well that's a lie, I expected this but what I truly didn't expect was the shifty look in her eyes .
It made me truly wonder on what in the world could have I did to this girl to make her show such an ashamed reaction, Miyuki had already spilled the beans on why we were here at the school this early, after hearing that, the two were quite envious at our privilege to enter the school this early without a problem .
" You know that the two of you are more than welcome to join us, this should allow you to enter the school and win the challenge .
After I said that Mizuki was all for it, Erika was gritting her teeth in frustration for a while before she finally accepted my suggestion, I couldn't help but wonder why trumping over Watanabe-senpai was this important to her .
After that we went in our own ways, Juvia and Miyuki went to the school council room and me and Tatsuya headed to the Public Morals Committee room, the two Mizuki and Erika split from us and said that they have some things to sort out .
Leaving matters at that, I kept on trying to get an answer from Tatsuya, but to no avail, even when I tried to lure him into telling me using information regarding my experiment as a bait, his reaction become even weirder and quite difficult to read and brushed my offer off .
Seeing him acting like this, I decided that another bunny outbreak will surely teach him a lesson, then we had finally reached the intended destination, the Public Morals Committee room, as we entered, there was already a few members sitting inside the room, all the seats were full except for me and Tatsuya around the meeting table .
It seem that all the 10 people here were the only members of the Public Morals Committee, I saw the familiar face of Moriasaki Shun, he nodded at me and Tatsuya but said nothing, it was Watanabe-senpai who called for us to set down .
For the next 15 minutes or so we were given our instructions for how to keep order around the city today, then came the new promotion for me, I thought that by becoming a vice president out of nowhere, it might create some troubles, but other than a few hums nothing else happened .
It seem that either she had talked to them about it before I entered, or they just accepted that there was nothing they can do about it, after this was over, I was paired was Tatsuya for today's patrol, Watanabe Mari finally asked if there were anymore questions .
A senpai was glasses adjusted the frame of his glasses and asked if Tatsuya was capable enough for the job, even though the two of us were newcomers, but only Tatsuya's abilities were doubted .
You don't have to worry about the newcomers, they can take good care of themselves, if there were no other questions, you all are dismissed .
Mari-senpai came to the rescue as always and dealt with the situation wisely, after that everyone to his own businesses, 10 minutes after this meeting, the gates were now completely opend for the students to enter .
Juvia soon joined me and for some reason she was beginning to look quite nervous, maybe she will be changing her mind soon on her own, thinking like this, I headed to the class with her and was expectant to see how will it all go .
The bell indicating the class being over rang and the announcement declaring the start of the Clubs Recruitment Week was made, cheering voices sounded across the hallways as if the announcement was related to summer vacation starting or something .
After the class was over, I put on the black and red armband and paired with Tatsuya and we both headed for the courtyard where we will be doing our duty, just as we reached the courtyard, we saw how bad and fierce the competition among the Clubs over members was, some people were literally grabbing people to force them to become members .
All the deployed Public Morals Committee members were busy with trying to stop conflicts from arising, but what could 9 people be able to control this much crowd, suddenly a familiar voice sounded in our ears, it was a cry of discomfort from two of our acquaintances, Mizuki and Erika were both surrounded by hungry for members leader of school clubs .
Erika was ready to fight them back, but without magic and was all these hands trying to get a piece of her together was how tight her position currently was, forcing her to not be able to maneuver her way out of this place .
I turned to Tatsuya and saw that the latter already appeared to use compound waves to split the masses, but there was still narrow to almost no clear path for the two to take, it was my turn to do something about this, appearing like a ghost in front of the two girls, I wasted no time and shielded them behind me, the path was cleared up and I took their hands and said :
" Let's get you two out of her .
Without waiting for them to respond, I dashed forward towards the back of a building close to the event with the two in hands, just as I reached safely to a place far away from the battlefield, I turned to check on the two of them and what came into my view was the palm of Erica coming towards my face in a slapping motion .
