" What's that ? .
It was my first time hearing about such a thing, it wasn't on students book, Juvia then started to explain that she only know this because she had joined the school students council, she looked at me with eyes that seemed to say ' praise me ' I patted her head and that was enough for her to beam out of happiness .
Then she continued to explain that the Public Morals Committee will be responsible for securing this event as it tends to become somewhat chaotic, hearing her say this, I understood that the meeting tomorrow should indeed be related to this, but just to confirm my suspicions, I said :
" Is by any chance, this week will start from tomorrow ? .
Juvia nodded her petite head and said :
Yes Master and it will continue for a duration of a week, then those who weren't unable to join a club would only have one option and that to create their own and wait for the next semester to discuss a budget to be allocated to their created club .
" Is the budget thig the reason this event tend to be chaotic ? .
Juvia nodded again and explained that as I suspected, the clubs tends to snatch as many members as they can put their hands on for the sake of increasing the budget that is allocated to their club, but they weren't the only one with such a plan in mind, other clubs will also try to grab people for the same reason .
So fresh students will be targeted by those clubs and the scene will become chaotic due to the crowds of those clubs fighting over who would snatch these guys from one another, in the crowd anything might happen to those who would find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time and that's where our roles will come to play .
We were as she said the unit responsible for securing the event, we can use magic to solve most of not all conflicts, not to mention that our mere presence might prevent conflicts from even starting, Course 1 and 2 students will be there, that was the most troublesome situation, you can't just put petrol on a raging fire and hope that it will act as water, all in all conflicts will most likely appear between the students tomorrow .
How troublesome, I couldn't help looking at Juvia and say :
" So do you have a club in mind ? .
I asked this question rhetorically, thinking of needing to convince her of the whole thing about here going to join any of those clubs, so that should be a good start to open this topic, I expected her to stay silent or even refuse directly, but surprisingly she nodded her head and said :
If Master gave me his permission, I would like to join a club I have in mind .
Hearing her say this, I for some reason felt a weird emotion of happiness inside me, it was a mix of weird feelings, like feeling proud and excited for her to have finally took the initiative to do something like this, I couldn't contain my curiosity any longer and asked her to tell me more about this club that caught her liking, wondering what it might be .
I gave her a nod and asked about more information about this club, then I saw that she actually got a poster from her school bag and handed it to me, this was the first time I saw her this excited about something other than being my maid, so I couldn't help but cheering for her in my heart .
Before opening the poster to see the content it displayed, I was taken aback by her saying :
The student council is responsible for accepting those posters and making sure of their suitability, we are also responsible for printing as much of these posters, I happened to see this poster and asked the president if I could take one before the event start and she let me do so .
Seeing how enthusiastic about this, I couldn't help but have hope for this poster in my hand to be able to make her continue to stay like this for the rest of her life, it's not like I don't like to have her company, in contrarily, I was starting to feel lost if I didn't see her around .
She was normally someone who didn't ask for anything, to have her talking to me like this already took a considerable amount of time, so to see here like this now, it was a bit shocking, I was very much happy for her, I nodded at her once more and felt the poster in my hand become quite heavy, she was folding it in a conical shape and she was holding it with a rubber band .
Unfolding the poster and its contents finally came into my view, my first thought I had in mind after seeing it was, I don't think that she needed to join this club, I don't recommend it one bit, in fact I might as well order her not to join this club directly .
On the poster, there were pictures of girls playing dress up it seem, but then I saw the title of the poster and figured that things were more complicated than that, the name of this club she wanted to join was, The Maids Cosplay Club .
All the girls on the poste was indeed wearing maids uniform albeit more revealing and alluring, the club wasn't the issue much, it's the benefits that they said to be providing to those who join it that made me suspect that this was what Juvia was after from the start .
This school club actually was allowing their members to wear whatever they want to wear as long as it's going with their maid theme club, they can attend classes in that uniform and can even participate in role-playing as a maid, looking at the enthusiastic Juvia in front of me, I finally understood what she was after by joining this club and why she was so enthusiastic about it .
She just wanted to play her role as my maid more openly and this club was the perfect cover, she was looking at me with stars like look in her eyes, her face was already brightly lit and all she wanted to hear from me was praise and maybe or maybe not my congratulations on her finding something like this to join .
The club offered a few events for the girl to serve a person they called to the clubroom, other events that were of the same nature, but the theme was slightly different, all in all the club wasn't anything serious, it was a fun place where she could enjoy being herself there, but that's the issue, she didn't only want to be acting like that in there, she had the intention to continue being my maid for real in the school .
I kept looking at the poster in hands, then at her and repeated this for 3 times and was completely at loss of what should I say to her, should I go along with it, or should I say something to dissuade her, but she seemed to be happy with what she had chosen for herself, shouldn't I be just cheering for her .
Well, cheering for here might end up complicating things in the future, I had no ounce of doubt in me that she will go around the school from here on out wearing anything but the maid uniform, at least she won't wear the one in the poster, maybe these aren't even real benefits and just a few fake promises that are given for the sake of luring people in, this was quite possible .
I had taken a considerable amount of time dwelling on what should I say or do, too much in fact that she seemed to have become a bit impatient about my opinion and she asked me directly to say what I think about this, being put under the spotlight by her like this, I couldn't help but say :
" Well, it's an interesting club that's certain, I think that I will be rooting for you to join them then .
I wanted to say that she shouldn't join that ridiculous club and search for something else, but I was afraid of the the something else she might come up with as a replacement, so in the end, I accepted her enthusiasm and said that I'm cheering for her, as for whether will my decision come to bite me in the future, well, I guess I will be waiting to see how will everything go in the future, I think .
Her expression didn't allow me to say what I thought truthfully, so all I can do with let her go ahead and do it and hopefully she would be kicked out of the club for being too good at being a maid or something like that, but to think that this school had even such clubs that are this ' unique ', made me wonder what in the world the Clubs Management Committee was thinking .
Well, I guess all I can do now is to hope that she would not be accepted, but better keep those evil thoughts to myself, I in fact had a few clubs that I would like to join, since this was my way of experiencing a happy and healthy school life, some were inclined to the study of Magic, some were a bit more inclined to spors, my interest in those was purely to have some fun .
Those previous months I got to learn about world sports events and I myself become quite interested in trying to play a few of these sports, currently football and Basketball were my favorite, but maybe I would try volleyball too .
As we kept chatting a bit more about the school clubs, we had finally reached home, the tower still looked quite empty with very much no other residents than us, but I somewhat liked it more like this, but Juvia didn't seem to like it that much, well it did look a bit haunted like this, but some quietness is good at the end of such busy days .
I went directly to take a good bath, then changed my clothes quickly and was about to head out for some strolling, just as I was inches away from the door, I heard a voice from behind me saying :
You should have accepted the school arrangements, these guys already have a lot on their plate there was truly no need for you to increase their troubles over wanting to win the favor of a little girl .
And here I say goodbye to my dream of strolling around, my mother's voice was coming from the screen, her call didn't even gave me a chance to accept or refuse, she called and the call connected, it was as easy as that, I let out a sigh and already know what she was talking about .
I let myself return to my seat again, my face had a frown that didn't seem to have went pass her, she without waiting for me to even answer her first question, before she hit me with yet another one, she said :
What are you not happy with me calling you or something ? .
Her tone carried a hint of teasing, this wasn't a question, it was a set up, no matter what my answer will be, she would criticize me for it nonetheless, so instead of accepting to be trapped, I said :
" Well, you had ask me to get a position that carried some weight in school and I went and did just that, there was a voting session and I lost, there was really no much that I can do ? .
Oh, you lost, weird, the report in front of me said that you won then abdicated your position and even went to the lengths of calling yourself, the Yotsuba Main Family member and its representative a lazy person .
I couldn't help but admire the fact that even though her words were enough to make anyone frustrated, she just read them in a neutral tone as if they didn't matter at all, giving me no time to declare my admiration, she continued to say :
Well, now that this is over with for now at least, they will be giving you a new position in the Public Morals Committee, you would be the vice-president and in the next year you would be appointed automatically as the new president of the committee, as long as you still want to stay in that committee by then, that's is .
I nodded my head and was about to end the call, when her tone suddenly shifted and she asked :
How was your day ? .
Wanting to poke some fun at her, I said :
" Shouldn't the report have that as well ? .
Shejust scoffed at my reply and said :
It is mentioned yes, but I still want to hear it out of your own mouth, so how was your day ? .
I shook my head at failing to get her to show much enthusiasm to my try to joke around and said :
" Well, everything is alright, I guess, the school life is better than I had anticipated and I gained a few new friends .
She suddenly crossed her fingers together and leaned on her office desk and said :
The report mentioned that you have appeared on several occasions interacting with a girl with glasses, her name was Mizu, Mizaki, shall I consider her as my future daughter in law ? .
" Her name is Mizuki and no she is just a friend, the report is quite exaggerating how frequently we interact with each other, we just run into each other from time to time and that's all .
Is that so, well alright then, I can see that you are all prepared to head out, are you heading to run into her ? .
I sighed and understood that whoever his informer was, he or she was the one to put this kind of misunderstanding in her mind, after I sighed, I answered her truthfully, saying :
" Well, I had arrived in the city for quite some time now and was just going for a quick walk that's all .
Some times, I forget how handsome you are even when you put such a casual clothes, dear son, I guess you go and enjoy then .
Without even saying goodbye, she directly ended the call, well it's to be expected, I got up from my seat and brushed off her last comment and directly went for the door, I was indeed troubled by my looks .
After strolling around the city alone, completely ignoring the tantrum Juvia was throwing for not agreeing to take her with me, I finally made it back in time for dinner, the day completely ended and I stayed in bed staring at the ceiling while wondering about what interesting things would the Clubs Recruitment Week bring me .
