Chapter 35 - 35

Shane stared at the monitors for what felt like hours. Each live feed, each recorded clip, each tiny motion in the streets near Griffin's apartment was cataloged, timestamped, and analyzed.

Finn broke the silence. "He's predictable. In some ways. But in others… he's volatile. Unstable. Obsessed. Protective. Dangerous."

Shane tapped her pen against the desk. "Vinny is at the center. Every pattern Griffin shows revolves around him. Every movement, every glance, every subtle shift in routine. This is no ordinary obsession."

Liz sat beside them, flipping through her notes from Evelyn. "She confirmed it. The patterns started years ago. Griffin noticed Vinny back in university, even before anyone else paid attention. Every interaction since has been calculated, obsessive, almost… inevitable."

Shane exhaled slowly. "That explains the university photos. That explains the past few weeks. Griffin's behavior isn't impulsive. It's deliberate. Preplanned. Protective, yes, but darkly obsessive."

Finn leaned back, rubbing her temples. "And West. He's been quiet but clearly present. Every step he takes is calculated to manipulate Griffin. To test him. To see where the cracks appear."

Liz nodded. "Evelyn is helping us subtly. She's giving insights without tipping Griffin off. If we coordinate carefully, we can map his obsession and understand its limits before it escalates further."

Across the city, Griffin's apartment was calm, deceptively so. Vinny sat at the table, sketching quietly, unaware of the monitoring outside.

Griffin moved behind him, dark energy coiling like a shadow around his frame. His hand rested lightly on Vinny's shoulder, possessive, controlling, protective.

"You are mine," Griffin murmured. "No one touches you. No one comes near. Not West. Not anyone. I control what happens around you."

Vinny swallowed hard. The possessive darkness pressing against him was intoxicating, terrifying, and impossible to ignore.

Griffin leaned closer, whispering, "I know everything about you. Every movement, every thought, every fear. And I will protect you from them all."

Vinny shivered slightly. "I know."

Griffin's eyes darkened, scanning the room as if sensing the city beyond these walls. "They think they can observe us. They think they can interfere. They do not understand what it means to touch what is mine."

West watched from his hidden vantage point. Every glance, every small movement Griffin made, every obsessive gesture, was cataloged. He noted the possessiveness, the intensity, and the control. His mind calculated the right moment to strike, the moment to manipulate, to turn the shadows into advantage.

Shane and Finn monitored every feed, every movement, coordinating with Liz. "We have the university photo," Shane said. "We have the history. We know Griffin's obsession isn't recent. It's decades in the making. That means every action, every pattern, every protective instinct is ingrained."

Finn frowned. "Which makes intervention riskier. Griffin doesn't just care for Vinny. He has been shaping this obsession for years. It's part of who he is now."

Liz glanced at her notes. "Evelyn confirmed that Griffin notices everything. Even the smallest gestures, the quietest thoughts. He reacts when he senses interference. That's how he's managed to maintain control for so long."

At the apartment, Griffin finally moved to Vinny's side, pulling him into his lap. The possessiveness wrapped around Vinny like a physical weight, dark and protective.

"You do not need to worry about anyone," Griffin whispered, voice low, almost a growl. "I see everything. I control everything. You are mine, and I will keep you safe."

Vinny pressed closer, heart racing, the warmth of Griffin's dark obsession both frightening and comforting.

Outside, Shane reviewed the same feeds. "Every movement, every glance, every subtle gesture… we have to record it all. This is our chance to understand the obsession fully before it escalates further."

Finn nodded. "And West? He's waiting, watching. Any misstep could trigger him, trigger Griffin, and put Vinny at risk."

Liz's fingers drummed against the table. "Evelyn will continue feeding us insights. We just have to move carefully. Step by step. Build the evidence without tipping Griffin off."

Back inside the apartment, Griffin's gaze lingered on Vinny, dark and calculating, protective yet obsessive, a dangerous love wrapped in tenderness.

Vinny, feeling the weight of that obsession, leaned into him, unsure where protection ended and control began.

And somewhere across the city, West smiled quietly, observing both, calculating his next move.

The pieces were in place.

The game was only beginning.
