Chapter 30 - 30

The early morning streets were quiet, but inside the station, Shane, Finn, and Liz were anything but. Maps, timelines, and notes littered the table, outlining every movement, every routine Griffin had established.

Shane leaned back, eyes scanning the diagrams. "We know his patterns now. Routines, times, when he's most intense with Vinny. This gives us leverage, but we move slowly. One wrong step, and we push him into something… unpredictable."

Finn nodded. "West is still a wildcard. Could appear at any moment. Could trigger Griffin. Could make Vinny unsafe. We need to account for him too."

Liz's hand hovered over her notebook. "Evelyn was cooperative. She confirmed the intensity, the obsession. She noticed every detail that Griffin wouldn't want exposed."

Shane's gaze sharpened. "Good. Evelyn's inside perspective is invaluable. We'll use it carefully. Step by step. No surprises."

Across town, Griffin's apartment was calm, deceptively so. Vinny sat at the table, organizing notes for work. He glanced at Griffin, who moved through the room with precise, deliberate movements, every gesture calculated, every look intense.

Griffin's dark gaze lingered on Vinny. "You feel safe, don't you?" he asked softly.

"Yes," Vinny replied, though a subtle unease tugged at him. The tension in Griffin's presence was overwhelming, protective but also suffocating.

Griffin's jaw tightened. "Good. You should. You are mine. Always mine. No one touches you. Not West. Not anyone. I will make sure of it."

Vinny nodded, swallowing hard. He did not resist. He could not resist. Griffin's dark obsession pressed on him, intoxicating, terrifying, and impossible to ignore.

Outside, Shane and Finn had set up discreet surveillance. Cameras, patrols, and shadowing every routine. Liz had briefed Evelyn to give indirect updates, subtle hints about Griffin's movements and behavior, ensuring they could track patterns without alerting him.

Shane tapped her pen. "Every interaction matters. Observe, document, analyze. Griffin's obsession is growing darker. We have to anticipate his moves, but remain unseen."

Finn glanced at Liz. "You're confident Evelyn will keep feeding us information?"

"Yes," Liz replied. "She trusts me. She sees me as someone neutral, concerned for Vinny. That's why she told me things she wouldn't share with anyone else."

Meanwhile, West lingered in the shadows, watching Griffin. His movements subtle, calculated. He had sensed the surveillance starting and had his own plan, a quiet escalation meant to test boundaries without exposing himself completely.

Griffin's senses were taut. Something had shifted. Subtle changes in routine, quiet disturbances, the faint feeling of observation. He scanned the streets below, instincts alert. Whoever was probing, he would find them. Whoever threatened Vinny would regret it.

Vinny, oblivious to the surveillance outside, moved through his morning quietly. He noticed Griffin's intensity, the watchfulness, the possessive energy pressing against him. It was both comforting and suffocating.

Griffin approached him, hand brushing Vinny's hair back from his forehead. "Stay close," he murmured, voice low and darkly protective. "Nothing outside can touch you. I control what happens to you. Always."

Vinny's pulse quickened, heart racing with fear and desire. He knew Griffin's obsession had a dangerous edge, yet he could not deny the pull it had on him. He nodded silently, letting the tension settle around him.

At the station, Shane and Finn watched their monitors. Liz updated them in real time, careful to frame every observation as concern rather than accusation.

Shane exhaled slowly. "We have the advantage, but we must remain patient. Griffin is dangerous in ways we do not fully understand yet. But he is predictable if we track the obsession carefully. Watch every touch, every glance, every shadow."

Finn nodded. "We prepare to move on evidence, but only when we are ready. Any misstep and it could backfire on Vinny."

Back in the apartment, Griffin's phone vibrated. A message from West.

He read it quickly: "I see everything. I know the truth."

Griffin's dark eyes narrowed. His jaw tightened. He knew the threat had escalated. The game had changed.

He looked at Vinny, the warmth and vulnerability there, and a slow, dangerous smile spread across his face. Protective, obsessive, uncompromising.

"No one touches you," he murmured, pressing close. "And if they try… they will regret it."

Vinny shivered slightly, both terrified and comforted. He knew the darkness in Griffin's love was part of what made it feel absolute, all-consuming.

Outside, Shane, Finn, and Liz moved carefully. The surveillance intensified. Every shadow, every movement, every contact was being recorded. The web around Griffin's obsession was tightening.

And Griffin knew.

He would not allow anyone to take Vinny from him.

Not now. Not ever.

The stakes had risen.

The game had begun.

And the next move would determine everything.
