Chapter 33 - LUNCH??

RUHAAN'S POV:

I knew someone was following Ashvi's car. I saw it when she was leaving college, and that's why I took the same route she was taking. Behind her car, that other car was following her, and behind that car, I was too. But I can't understand why someone would be following her.

I quickly drove toward my house and as soon as I reached home, the first thing I did was call Yash.

: ("Hello, Ruhaan." )

"Get to my house quickly, and bring the rest of the boys too. Only boys."

I cut the call.

YASH'S POV:

Ruhaan cut the call. why is this guy like this, he never tells anything exactly.

He only called the boys, which means the matter is about Ashvi.

I called everyone and put the call on conference.

"(Hello.)"

"(What's up, Yash?)"

Yash : "Ruhaan just called everyone to his house."

"(Why?)"

"(Is it a party?)"

"(Wohoooo.)"

"(But Ruhaan met a little while ago. If it was a party, he would've said then, right?)"

"(This guy only cares about food.)"

Everyone started saying one after another.

"Shut up guys, stop discussing this and leave your houses now," I said and cut the call.

Sometimes these people get really annoying.

****************

RUHAAN'S POV:

Some stupid fellows are following Ashvi Today after college ended. when everyone was leaving, I saw a car going behind her.

I was explaining all this to everyone else.

"But why would someone be following Ashvi? What problem could anyone have with her? She helps everyone, but yeah to help, she also meddles a lot." said Arnav.

"Wow, looks like Ashvi is pretty popular. She has a lot of followers," Harry mocked.

"Harry, not everything is funny. Learn to take some things seriously," Varun snapped at him.

"Exactly," I continued, "this is not a joke, Harry. Someone is following Ashvi. And this is serious , and I have this feeling that this isn't right."

I stopped for a while and started again,

"We have to find out somehow who it is that's following her."

"Wow Ruhaan, it really looks like you've started to care about Ashvi. Looking at your face, it shows you're concerned," said Varun Sharma.

I just looked at him but didn't give any answer, because I didn't even have an answer myself.

But right now I don't even want an answer to that.

"Everyone, get to work now," I ordered, and everyone started getting up to leave, but Yash came up to me.

"What?"

"Think about what Varun said once," he said and left.

Right now I don't want to think about that, because maybe if I do, I'll get an answer I don't want.

*The next day*

Birds were chirping outside and Sunday morning was fresh. Ashvi was on her bed, sleeping peacefully, until her mom came into her room to wake her up.

"Ashu, get up. How much more will you sleep? You've already slept for a long time. C'mon, get up."

She drew the window curtains aside and the bright golden sunlight shone straight onto Ashvi's face. She flinched a little and then slowly opened her eyes, but was still sleepy.

"Why, Mom? Today is Sunday. Let me sleep today. You wake me up like I'm a kid going to school."

"Well, if your habits are like a school-going kid, then what can I do? Now hurry up, freshen up, and come downstairs for breakfast."

ASHVI'S POV :

Mom said that and left, but I was still sitting on the bed regretting every life decision of mine.

Hehehe, just kidding.

Ahhhh, I don't want to get up from this soft, silky, smooth bed. How do I go to the bathroom and leave this bed behind?

Humans are the ones who ruined the world. They're the ones who want productivity.

Why are we supposed to be productive the whole week?

There should've been a rule for one day, Sunday, where the whole day you just sleep and eat. (Obviously eat), but the food should come to the bed too. With this whole AI generation going on, there should be a robot in every house that does all the housework, cooks food and everything, and even brings the food so that everyone can sleep peacefully. But what can I do, all this is only possible in your dreams, Ash, not in real life.

Wow, I was building my dream world and just then someone crashed my world.

I heard a notification sound from my phone.

I picked it up from the table and saw it was some unknown number. I opened the message.

*From unknown*

"(Hoi Ash, it's me, Mansi bro. Idk, my phone hasn't been turning on since morning, maybe it has some fault, so right now I'm messaging from my sister's phone. I messaged to say that today is Sunday, so let's go out for lunch. I have a very interesting tea for you hehe. Let's meet at our regular restaurant at 1:30. Be on time, okieee byeeeeeeeee)."

Great, I thought I wouldn't do anything today and would just stay home, but this girl can't see me happy. I would've just said no to her, but she said she has something interesting to say, so now if I refuse, god will never forgive me.

I was just about to get up to take a shower, but then another notification. I opened it and saw.

*From Ruhaan*

"(We all decided we're doing lunch together today, so get ready. I'm coming to pick you up.)"

"What is wrong with everyone? Why does everything have to be done on Sunday?" I said, annoyed.

I called Ruhaan. He picked up immediately.

"(Tell me.)"

"I can't come for lunch today. You all go."

"(Kindly explain me why)," from the other line.

O God, his accent.

"Because Mansi and I are already going, and it's just us going there. We don't need anyone else, so you guys go."

He paused and then said,

"(Fine.)"

Line ended--

I stepped out of the house and Ayaan showed up.

"You just had so much breakfast and now you're going for lunch again? Where do you even have space in your stomach to eat so much?" He started laughing.

"Stop teasing me and go inside and do something," I shot back.

After a while, I reached where Mansi had called me, but she wasn't there.

Wow, great. This girl told me to be on time and now she's late herself. I called her but the phone was switched off. Oh yeah, her phone is broken, I forgot. Now I have no option except to wait.

RUHAAN'S POV:

We all reached the restaurant for lunch, but I don't know why I had this feeling like something was about to go wrong. Everyone was being loud, but I was quiet.

"Ruhaan," Varun called me.

"What happened? Why are you so quiet?"

I smirked.

"I'm always like this. These are the ones who are always shouting like kids."

"Yeah that's true, but you're quiet in a different way. I've been noticing it for a while too," Yash said.

"Nothing."

"Okay, but where is Ashvi? You were supposed to pick her up, right?"

"Yes," and "Arnav and Jack aren't here either," Harry continued.

"Ashvi went with Mansi, and I don't know about Arnav and Jack," I said casually.

Just then Arnav and Jack showed up there, shouting my name.

"What happened, bro? Why are you guys sweating like you've run a marathon?"

"Ruhaan," they called me again.

"What the hell are you guys shouting for?" I said.

"Ruhaan, we found out who was following Ashvi yesterday."

"Who?" I asked immediately, and Yash said it at the exact same time as me.

"AJ," they said.

And hearing that, everyone went quiet.

"Yes, AJ could have a problem with Ashvi. He tried last time too," someone said from behind.

"Last night Ruhaan, you called and told us to check the college CCTV footage," Arnav started. "Today Jack and I went to college and checked the CCTV footage there. So that car that was following Ashvi, there was a sign on that car." They showed us the car photo and yes, that sign had AJ written on it, and only he uses that template.

Seeing that, I immediately called Ashvi.

"Who are you calling, Ruhaan?"

"Ashvi. I know how AJ plays. He's definitely still following her. It's not safe for Ashvi to be outside right now."

But Ashvi's phone wasn't connecting. I called again and again but—

F**K

So after that I directly called Mansi. At first her phone was switched off too, that made me even more frustrated , but then the call went through once and she picked up.

"(Hello, Ruhaan.)"

"Mansi, where are you? And why isn't Ashvi's phone connecting? Put her on the phone."

"(Ashvi isn't with me)" she said.

"What? What do you mean she's not with you? You two were going for lunch, right?" I said.

"(What? No, we're not meeting today and I didn't tell her anything like that. I haven't even talked to her since this morning.)"

That hit me like a thunderstorm.
