Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: The Gathering

The morning light filtered through the tall windows of Dextrotech's main building as Dexter stood on the second-floor overlook. Below him, the expansive ground floor had transformed into a living testament to innovation. Display platforms gleamed under strategic lighting, each one holding prototypes and full-scale inventions.

Robotic arms hummed quietly in the background, making final adjustments. Dexter leaned on the railing, a quiet sense of purpose settling over him.

"It's time to start," he murmured to himself, a small, determined smile crossing his face.

By 6 PM, the building came alive.

Dextrotech headquarters was a striking fusion of brutalist architecture and futuristic elegance, three stories of reinforced glass and matte-black panels accented with glowing blue lines that traced structural supports like digital veins. The open atrium design allowed visitors to see across multiple levels, with floating holographic directories and subtle scent diffusers releasing a clean, energizing ozone-and-metal aroma. Security was prominent yet unobtrusive: pairs of Dexter's custom guardian robots stood at every entrance, their polished silver-and-blue frames imposing, red sensor eyes scanning invitations with soft confirmation beeps. Inside, the air hummed with low-level energy from active displays.

Guests arrived steadily. Lab coats mingled with casual jackets and professional attire.

Among them was Mabel Tanaka, bouncing on her toes with wide-eyed excitement, her colorful backpack slung over one shoulder. Beside her, Dr. Sam pushed a sturdy wheeled cart covered by a tarp, Dr. Connor clutched his notebook, scribbling notes furiously, while Dr. Nisha walked with sharp, observant poise.

"Whoa, this place is huge," Mabel exclaimed, spinning in a small circle as they entered the main hall. "It's like someone took a sci-fi movie and made it real! Look at those lights!"

Nisha smirked slightly, her tone dry but intrigued. "Let's not get carried away yet. But… I'll admit the layout is efficient."

Their amazement only grew as they moved deeper into the hall. In the robotics section, massive boxing robot machines dominated the space.

Connor's face lit up immediately. "No way… that's Noisy Boy! The Manga Mangler! He had a WRB record of 15-1, his only WRB loss was to Rubicon in 2016 where Rubicon got lucky with a huge uppercut that knocked out Noisy Boy." He pointed excitedly at the bulky red-and-blue bot, then his eyes widened further. "And Atom… and Midas! The one tearing up the underground leagues. And is that… Bio-War? The former Crash Palace champion?"

Mabel smiled, equally impressed.

Further along, a long-winged demonstration device activated. A sleek test robot extended segmented metallic wings and lifted smoothly into a controlled hover, jets firing with precise bursts as it performed graceful loops before landing. A small crowd applauded.

"Flight tech like that without bulky thrusters?" Nisha murmured, impressed. "Clever weight distribution."

Nearby, a strength-enhancing suit on a mannequin caught their attention. A volunteer demonstrated by effortlessly lifting heavy weighted crates that would have required a forklift. Other displays lined the path, compact energy converters humming with clean, stable power output; modular tool arms that reshaped themselves on command for delicate or heavy tasks; precision drones zipping through obstacle courses with perfect coordination, reminiscent of advanced lab assistants; and even a portable force-field generator projecting a shimmering barrier that harmlessly deflected tossed balls.

The group finally paused at one of the most crowded spots. A sleek motorcycle dominated the platform, its lines aggressive and modern. Suddenly, with a series of smooth mechanical shifts and whirs, it transformed, panels folding, wheels repositioning into a agile bipedal robot.

Gasps and murmurs spread. This was the one that had gone viral months ago, the machine that had reportedly saved civilians during a minor incident by shifting forms to navigate debris and carry people to safety.

"Transforming vehicle to robot in under ten seconds," Connor whispered in awe, scribbling faster. "The structural integrity during shift must be crazy!"

Nisha tilted her head. "Practical and flashy. Not bad."

"Unbelievable," Mabel muttered. "The transformation efficiency alone…"

A calm, professional voice echoed through the hall's speakers. "Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for attending. Please make your way toward the central stage area for opening remarks."

The crowd moved as one. Mabel and her companions found spots near the front. The stage was simple but elegant, backed by a large screen displaying the Dextrotech logo. Then, a red-haired young man stepped out confidently. Whispers spread as people recognized him from rumors.

Dexter looked out over the assembled group. He spotted familiar faces from his invitation list, Professor Utonium, Jimmy, Phineas, Ferb, Flint, Peabody, the Test sisters, and many more promising geniuses whose work he had studied. A quiet pride mixed with nervousness stirred in his chest.

"Thank you all for coming tonight," Dexter began, his voice carrying clearly, warm with genuine enthusiasm rather than detached confidence. "For those who don't know me personally, my name is Dexter Labz. I founded Dextrotech because I believe we can do better together. I invited each of you because your work stands out in a world full of challenges, threats that demand more than what any one person can achieve alone."

He paused, scanning the faces. "My goal is simple yet ambitious. I want Dextrotech to be a place where brilliant minds collaborate freely. Secure labs, shared resources, funding that lets you focus on creation instead of constraints. Together, we can innovate solutions that truly help humanity, advancing technology, improving lives, and preparing for whatever comes next. No more working in isolation. No more limits imposed by bureaucracy or lack of support."

The audience listened intently. Dexter's tone grew more passionate. "Tonight, several of you have generously volunteered to showcase your own inventions. Let's celebrate what we can achieve. To start us off, please welcome Flint Lockwood!"
