Metheea's breath caught in her throat the moment the doorknob rattled. She turned her head sharply toward the sound even as the words left her mouth.
"Stop," she said. Her voice came out low and unsteady. "Someone is outside."
Azrayel groaned against the side of her neck. The sound vibrated through her skin. His hand did not pull away. Instead it moved higher along her thigh, fingers spreading wide against the heavy fabric of her gown. She felt the heat of his palm through the layers. It burned in a way that had nothing to do with the mana still flickering around his shoulders.
She pushed herself upright on shaky legs.
The moment she stood he groaned again and followed her. His mouth left her neck and dragged down the curve of her cheek in hot, open kisses. She felt the scrape of his teeth and the wet heat of his tongue. Her face turned hot. She brought both hands up and pushed hard against his chest.
