Jason didn't know what caused that crack in the wall, but soon it became more evident—something both Rick and Daryl noticed as Daryl was helping Carol jump.
"Don't stop! You have to get out of this place!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Jason started eliminating walkers after realizing they might break through if the door collapsed somehow, so it was better to deal with them now than face them later.
There were still four people left to jump, but that number was too high, as he didn't consider himself part of that group. When Amy tried to see what was happening, she heard Daryl's cold voice reminding her, "You'd better jump now if you don't want to get us all killed!"
Daryl didn't wait for her to make a decision, so after saying that, he forcibly threw her down the rope and then looked at Rick, waiting for his move.
"I'm right behind you!"
Rick glanced toward the cracking wall and then at Abraham, who was beside Jason, continuously firing at the metal door.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The bullets pierced through the door and killed numerous walkers behind it, but the door still held firm. After all, it couldn't be taken down by a few bullets like in a sci-fi movie.
"Rick, jump now!"
Crack!
As Jason pointed at Rick, he felt the ground vibrate strongly, followed by a crunching sound. His eyes fell to his feet. Beneath him, a crack spread like a spiderweb, and dust began spilling out through the fissures.
That's when Jason knew the roof of the building was about to collapse—but the problem was he didn't know what had caused this anomaly. After seeing Rick jump, Abraham looked at him and shouted, "We have to get out of here!"
"I'm right behind you!"
Jason looked at Abraham for a few seconds, and he nodded, grabbing the rope as he prepared to go down. However, at that moment, the wall gave way and the door that had been holding firmly fell to the floor.
The walkers behind it were all runners—they toppled forward, crashing to the ground, and that's when Jason began shooting rapidly.
He had put his mask back on, in case he had to engage in close combat at any moment. His suit completely protected him from any kind of bite, and it could even withstand projectile impacts, so he wasn't worried.
"Jason, let's jump together!"
Abraham, who hadn't jumped yet, waited for Jason so they could leave together, but because of the sound of the gunfire, Jason didn't move and kept shooting.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
"Abraham, you have to get out of here!"
The red-eyed walkers who had gotten to their feet were dying one after another under Abraham's and Jason's precise shots, but he knew it wouldn't be enough—and the cracks on the ground only made Abraham's jump more dangerous if something went wrong.
Reloading his weapon again, Jason kicked a walker that was about to reach him. The P90's magazine could hold over 50 rounds, so as long as Jason shot precisely at the walkers' heads, they would all die without much trouble.
As he moved toward Abraham, his firing became faster and faster. The way he handled the weapon made his movements look almost superhuman, swinging the silenced barrel from side to side.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The bullets pierced through the heads of all the red-eyed walkers coming out of the door. Abraham could no longer stay there, so after holding out as long as he could, he finally jumped.
"Well done, Abraham!"
…
George and the others had heard the gunfire that hadn't stopped, even after Abraham had reached the other side of the building. Everyone knew Jason had stayed behind, and when they heard the door had been broken, they all started to panic.
"Zz… Rosita, what's Jason's situation?"
"Zz… He can't get close to the rope—there are too many walkers running toward him right now."
When everyone heard this, a chill ran down their spines. Jason was in trouble.
…
Bang!
Jason moved toward a corner of the building, still firing. His eyes were wide open, watching all his enemies closing in without stopping.
The ground was completely cracked, and everything indicated that the roof was about to give way. Jason no longer had time to focus on anything else but eliminating every walker with his P90, firing each shot with deadly precision.
Straight ahead, at least two walkers were running toward him. As they reached him, Jason sidestepped and kept shooting. Some of the walkers who had rushed toward him fell off the rooftop.
"Faster…"
Jason had to move faster, and just when he thought he was about to lose momentum, several gunshots echoed from the distance—Sasha, holding her rifle, was covering him. That sudden assistance gave Jason a few precious seconds to reload his weapon.
Bang!
Kicking a walker, Jason felt a bite against his suit, and after shoving the creature away, he moved through the rest, trying to gain enough time to reload.
Roar!
The red-eyed walkers tried to grab hold of him somehow, but Jason's suit clung tightly to his body, and the swords strapped to his back, along with his vest full of magazines and pistols, were the only things that protruded.
Without giving the enemy a chance to break his defenses, Jason finished reloading and, surrounded by walkers, began killing them one by one without losing his composure.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The walker to his left was taken down with a headshot; moving behind that body, he fired two more rounds and took out those closest to him.
Blood and flesh splattered everywhere, and the ground began to flood with gore. Shell casings flew from Jason's weapon as more and more corpses piled up on the rooftop.
Crack!
At that moment, the ground made louder and louder noises. Jason knew it was about to collapse, so he had to move toward the rope—but that meant advancing through the mass of walkers in front of him.
Roar!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Jason's body pushed forward, still shooting, pulling the trigger every second and killing numerous walkers. His mind was focused on one thing only: kill walkers and survive.
Jason needs to get out of there!
But his situation was dire. No matter how many walkers he killed, another dozen kept charging through the door. Still, Jason kept moving slowly toward the rope, eliminating more as he went.
Bang!
Shooting a walker right in front of him, Jason twisted his body to avoid another trying to bite him—always watching his surroundings, alert at all times.
"Just a few more seconds!"
Only a few meters away from the rope, Jason felt the floor vibrating harder and harder, and just as he prepared to grab the rope and jump, he felt his foot lose balance. When he looked down, his face turned pale.
The floor was collapsing!
"Ahhhh!" With a furious roar, Jason tried to jump forward, but a walker was faster and lunged at him. Losing his balance and unable to keep firing, his body toppled forward—and at that moment, the rooftop completely gave way.
Jason's eyes could only see the sky, and then the countless faces of walkers surrounding him. This situation was absurd, and it all unfolded because of a series of events tied to his own unfounded decisions.
"Damn it!"
Dust had already clouded his vision, and Jason showed a nervous smile beneath his mask. This time might really be his end—unless his fall turned out to be a good one. But in the end, everything depended on how he fell, and where the hell he would end up.
What caused the roof to collapse?
