The moment the monster wave reached the outer perimeter, the world erupted into chaos.
It wasn't a single charge.
It was an endless tide.
Thousands of Corruption Beasts poured from the forest like a flood of darkness, their deafening roars shaking the earth beneath the defenders' feet. Dust and black mist rose into the sky as the creatures sprinted toward the towering walls of the Elf Kingdom.
Ancient runes carved into the fortress blazed to life, forming a shimmering barrier around the outer defenses.
A heartbeat later, the first monsters crashed against it.
The impact echoed across the battlefield.

WAVE PHASE 1: BREACH
Monster Type: Low-Tier Corruption Beasts
Enemy Count: 2,000+
Objective: Hold the Outer Wall
Standing atop the wall, Sam narrowed his eyes as he watched the sea of monsters surge forward.
Beside him, Rex remained calm.
"They're testing the kingdom's defenses."
Sam glanced at him.
"So this isn't the real attack?"
Rex shook his head.
"No. They're looking for weaknesses. Don't waste your strength yet."
Sam nodded before raising his voice.
"Ben! Take the frontline!"
Ben slammed his fist against his shield.
"You heard him! Base 101, move!"
"Zora! Synchronize our support magic with the Elf mages."
"Already on it."
"Leon! Hunt down anything that slips through the lines."
A faint smile crossed Leon's face.
"They'll never see me."
"George! Reinforce every weak point in the wall."
George rested his massive hammer on his shoulder and laughed.
"Leave it to me."
Without another word, Base 101 sprang into action.
Goblin Soldiers rushed to the front in perfect formation, their shields locking together as though they shared a single mind.
A glowing circle spread beneath their feet.

They barely managed two steps.

A silver flash danced through the battlefield.
One.
Two.
Three.
The monsters collapsed before they even realized they had been attacked.
Leon sheathed one dagger without expression.
"Too slow."
Farther back, Zora planted her staff firmly into the stone.
Blue mana exploded outward.
"Base Synchronization!"
Her magic merged seamlessly with the Elf Kingdom's defensive enchantments.

An Elf commander stared in disbelief.
"Our magic..."
"It's stronger."
George grinned.
"That's my cue."
He slammed the Hammer of the Forge into the ground.
The battlefield trembled.
Stone erupted upward.
Walls, spikes, trenches, and towering barricades burst from the earth, forcing hundreds of monsters into narrow choke points.
"They'll have to work a lot harder than that."
The Corruption Beasts continued charging.
Wave after wave crashed against the defenders.
Bodies piled across the battlefield.
Still they came.
Then the System chimed again.

Rex folded his arms.
"Here comes the last push."
"They're committing everything."
Sam smiled.
"Then we finish it."
He raised his sword high.
"Base 101!"
Every member looked toward him.
"Advance!"
Ben roared so loudly that even the Goblin Soldiers answered.
"FORWARD!"
The frontline burst into motion.
Goblin shields smashed through the enemy ranks while axes and spears cut down anything left standing.
George charged beside them like a living fortress.
Each swing of his hammer shattered the earth.
Every impact crushed dozens of monsters beneath falling stone.
Meanwhile, Leon became a ghost.
Elite Corruption Beasts tried to organize the horde.
None survived long enough to give an order.
Every few seconds another body collapsed silently to the ground.
Behind the army, Zora raised both hands toward the sky.
Golden mana gathered around her like flowing sunlight.
"Grand Enhancement!"
Light washed across the battlefield.

Shadow Step.
The world blurred.
He reappeared in the middle of the monster horde.
His sword flashed once.
Five Corruption Beasts fell.
Another Shadow Step.
Ten more collapsed.
Again.
Again.
Again.
Each movement carved another path through the endless tide.
The battlefield became a dance of steel and shadow.
Ben broke their formations.
George trapped them.
Leon eliminated every elite.
Zora ensured no one fought alone.
Base 101 moved as though it shared a single heartbeat.
The monsters could no longer keep up.
Their numbers dwindled.
The tide finally began to break.
Minutes later...
The final Corruption Beast let out one last agonized roar before dissolving into black ash.
Silence settled over the battlefield.
Only the sound of exhausted breathing remained.
Then the familiar chime echoed across the valley.

The Elf soldiers looked on in stunned silence.
An Elf captain slowly lowered his sword.
"They actually stopped the entire wave..."
Rex allowed himself a faint smile.
"Well done."
"This was only a standard monster wave."
"But today..."
"You proved that Base 101 belongs on a real battlefield."
Sam looked across his team.
Not a single casualty.
Ben laughed as he rested his axe across his shoulder.
"I could do that all day."
George chuckled.
"Next time, I hope they bring twice as many."
Leon quietly wiped the blood from one of his daggers.
"Still too easy."
Zora smiled, relief washing over her face.
"We're getting stronger."
As the massive gates of the Elf Kingdom slowly opened, cheers echoed from the walls.
The defenders welcomed the heroes who had stood against the endless tide... and won.
