Chapter 9 - Chapter(9)

Episode(9): Far from over

SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(9)

Roar!!!*

A deafening roar echoed shaking the entire passage.

Damn!

It was too loud, the sound shook his eardrums, Nagisa could only cover his ears in defense.

Ugh!

This isn't just a normal howl!

My consciousness shook and I felt a piercing pain in my mind.

Kh!

Only through sheer will could he manage to not pass out.

That was close.

Watching as the wolf circled him, Nagisa tensed his muscles and prepared for the attack.

But, even as he prepared himself he almost couldn't anticipate the speed of the pounce that followed.

Cr*p!

With a roll, he just barely avoided the sharp claws slicing at his head. However his decisive action almost cost him his life.

Glancing at the cliff that was literally behind him, his face went pale.

If I didn't calculate the distance through my perception I would have been a goner!

But even then I didn't have time to breathe.

A large gaping maw was clamping down from the front.

What!? When did he get here-

He crouched as low as possible just barely avoiding the sharp teeth. But the wolf wasn't about to let this meal go so easily.

With a scratch of his claws, it had Nagisa weaving like mad inches away from being diced into pieces.

This mutt!

Unable to take the close up onslaught, Nagisa escaped kicking off the walls and weaving around the wolf before dashing deep into the passage.

Swish!

Through perception, Nagisa saw the wolf's claw tear through the cave wall that he had been just moments ago.

So sharp!

His face turned pale.

I had long felt that the rocks here were several times tougher than those on earth. And yet, this beast tore through layers of said solid rock like paper.

If he was hit, he would definitely die!

Why was such a nuclear bomb walking around in the dungeon like a normal Friday!

Shouldn't this be a boss monster?

But, what did that matter now?

Run! With all my might just run!

But this wolf was unlike the others.

It's physical specs were way above average even with its large build it was still keeping pace.

Ah damn! Why is this happening to me!?

He seriously felt like crying.

Dragged to another world and he didn't even get to leave the castle before being sentenced to death.

I should have just revealed my class!

No, maybe if I did reveal my true class they would have persecuted me even more harshly.

And if that wasn't enough he was tossed into this unreasonable place.

Hordes of wolves, traps and that weird pit fall. Now, a super boss monster was walking around in broad daylight!

He couldn't take it, it was all too frustrating!

But the wolf didn't care about his thoughts. Seeing that it still had yet to fully close the distance with the human, it must have activated some skill.

With cat like agility and a speed nearly double that of before begun running on the wall.

How could Nagisa, with his perception not notice the strange movements?

What!?

Sp*derman!

In his shock, Nagisa saw the wolf lunged directly at him the moment it caught up.

Reflexively, he fell back and threw a kick into the air.

Bang!

The wolf received the force of the kick and was sent flying creating some distance.

One had to say, even at level one his strength was really something.

But, at the moment that didn't really matter.

He stood up and twisted his legs.

That felt like it had no contact at all. As if I kicked cotton, no damage whatsoever.

As if to prove his theory, the wolf didn't even seem slightly hurt.

Fuu, let's catch my breath.

Things were getting out of hand. A wolf running on walls, it could be explained as skills but please. If you are a wolf please do wolf like things!

In times like these I understand why people always wanted to be mages.

With no items or magic related attack skills in his arsenal, Nagisa could be consider to have absolutely no means of counter against this monster.

Should I fight?

But, if there's no damage delivered then I'd be working in vain.

It seemed the correct option in this situation was to continue fleeing and hope he could get away.

But, as if it could read his thoughts, the wolf moved at a speed blurry to the eyes.

!!!!

With his thoughts accelerated due to perception, Nagisa could only barely see a blur.

Even perception can't keep up!

Maybe he'd been too reliant on the skill since it seemed useful.

But, before using skills he was the guy who surpassed his gramps through effort alone.

Deactivating perception, Nagisa decided to rely on instincts honed through fighting.

He leaned forward slightly pressing his palms down on the empty air. There was nothing there, at least there should have been nothing.

The wolf appeared under my palm, it bit at me however instinctively anticipating its movements, I put strength into the arm pressing on the wolf and threw my body into the air.

Ding!

[Understanding of the skill perception increases]

[Congratulations! 'Perception(B+) has become 'Perception(A-)]

Go away!

Nagisa had no time for these notifications at all.

I escaped once, but can I do it another three or four times?

It took enough effort just predicting the earlier attack.

With nothing up his sleeve but his feet, Nagisa dashed away.

The wolf realized that he was running away and released an angry howl.

Maybe if I can find some safe zone or a small space that it can't enter with it's size, then-

Nagisa disregarded the howl. He thought it was just throwing a tantrum.

Pfft!

!!!!!?????

The next moment however he was shaken. The wolf that he had left behind, even with his current state he should have been able to outpace it by a bit so long as he had the head start.

And yet, it appeared behind him with a speed even faster than before slicing through his Achilles tendon.

The world twisted and he was about to fall.

Not good!

If he fell, the wolf would definitely take the chance to pounce.

Luckily the attack hadn't completely severed his tendon, Nagisa forced a twist and sent a spinning heel to the wolf's face.

It was a heavy kick using all the momentum of Nagisa's fall. The wolf was sent crashing into the wall.

Yet, he was dissatisfied.

Still no damage!

The wolf didn't even wait and pounced immediately after getting up.

This guy won't give up!

Fallen on his back after the kick, Nagisa had no time to get up and evade. Rolling back, he sent a kick up to the wolf snapping its open maw shut before it could attack.

Immediately after he twisted on his hand to his feet with a leap.

'...'

Nagisa looked at the wolf hesitating.

Fight? Run?

Which choice was better?

A million thoughts passed in his accelerated thoughts but he was still unable to come to a decision.

There was no winning against this monster in a fight if it took no damage.

Then-

He turned to run, however the wolf must have anticipated that this piece of flesh would try to flee again and in an instant it became a blur.

Shu!

Bang!

He only felt a heavy force on his back before he rolled to a stop.

Huh!?

Standing over him was the wolf, its ravenous hunger apparent in its twisted gaze.

Damn, I let my guard down!

I didn't think it could produce that speed three times in a row. No, judging skills by my know-how was wrong to begin with as I knew so little about these things.

Nagisa tried putting force into his legs, but with a spurt of blood, pain from the severed Achilles tendon felt unbearable.

Opening it wide mouth, jagged teeth lining its gums it bit down as if it could not wait any longer.

Kh!

With no other choice, I could only sacrifice my arm.

It hurt like hell.

But, I can't let it end here!

Activating the enhanced perception, Nagisa easily perceived the wolf's weak points and struck with force.

Raaa!!!!

It hurriedly let go feeling numbness where it was struck.

Using the chance, I slammed my uninjured leg under its stomach sending it flying to the wall.

Then, as if this wasn't enough to release all the pent up anger I shot up and rammed by body into the wolf.

Even if it didn't feel pain-

Feel my rage!

Crash!

The moment the impact between my body and the wolf occurred, the wall behind it gave way and both figures crashed through the wall.

Hm?

Nagisa stood up and glanced around. He had no idea where he was all of a sudden.

It was a lot more spacious than before, though still a cave like structure it had multicolor crystals embedded all around.

Angry at being thrashed by its meal, the wolf stood up with a howl.

The howl brought him back to his senses.

Right, that was right. I was in the middle of a fight wasn't that right?

His eyes turned cold, just because he had always been running these monsters wanted to bully him.

Before the wolf could even think to activate its skill, I closed the distance and struck its weak point with a fist.

It crashed to the ground and rolled, slightly stunned. Still, the human was not as fast as itself.

With that thought it vanished with a dash.

Feeling something, Nagisa turned and threw a fist. However the fist only met empty air hitting the ground and causing a tremble.

Hm…

Ignoring his bleeding knuckles, Nagisa continued to sense with his perception and the next moment he moved.

Tilting his head slightly, he avoided the sharp claws that came with killing intent and swung the back of his fist.

Struck on its stomach, the wolf felt breathless.

But it didn't end, as it was midair Nagisa twisted on his heel and spun a kick with all his might targeting the same spot with precise accuracy.

Humph!*

It flew out. Under the constant attacks on its weak point, although the wolf showed no visible injuries it was very much in pain.

I was also in a pathetic state.

If I knew it was gonna be like this from the start, I wouldn't have ran.

He must definitely give this wolf a beating!

But the next moment he froze.

A chill ran down his spine and he couldn't help but turn around.

There, the once four legged creature visibly transformed standing on its hind legs and taking a humanoid shape.

It was still in the form of a wolf, but now it seemed no different than a werewolf.

Did I set a flag?

It seemed this fight was far from over.
