"Call him down right now," Mrs. Gray ordered, stepping into the grand foyer with an air of absolute authority.
The moment she marched past, the maids tucked away around the corner couldn't help but lean in closer to whisper.
"I seriously can't believe a spoiled, arrogant young miss like Milly actually went crying and complaining to our boss's mother just to get her way," one maid hissed under her breath.
"Our dark days are ahead of us, darlings," another maid sighed, shaking her head. "If that woman moves in here, she'll turn this palace into a complete nightmare."
"I honestly pity our boss. Out of everyone in this city, he's the most unfortunate man today—having to deal with a forced headache like that," a third whispered sympathetically.
