Chapter 17 - Nothing would make me happier.

'I'm 99% sure that whoever checks the reports won't notice anything, but…'

There were hundreds of Valkyries spread all over the world. If each and every one of them got examined once every day, the number of reports those in charge would have to go through would be far too many. Of course, it was likely that they would automate the process using simpler AI, looking only at the ones that had been flagged. If the fake data file passes that first inspection, then he would have nothing to worry about.

'No point in stressing over it now…'

Just as he leaned on the back of his chair trying to relax, Sam heard the door open. The one coming in was none other than the ponytailed Valkyrie, Zero Five.

Now that her job for the day was done, she had changed into her uniform. To be more accurate, she wore it over her battle suit, in case an emergency happened. It was a black sailor uniform with long sleeves and a gray scarf. The skirt went halfway down her thighs, and the black tights she wore underneath enhanced the allure of her long legs.

Rather than a military uniform, what the Valkyrie wore was more like a cosplay. It looked fascinating, sure, but Sam couldn't shake the feeling that something like that wasn't appropriate for the world they were in. The design spoke about the tastes of the designer, and knowing who he was, Sam found it only natural that they turned out like this.

As he looked her up and down, Sam's eyes met the Valkyrie's, leading to her turning away with cheeks slightly flushed. He wanted to thank Odin for letting him experience something this cute, but the genius of a man would probably lose it if he were to hear about what happened to his precious doll.

"Is something the matter, Zero Five?" Sam asked, suppressing the smile slowly creeping onto his face.

"Well… um…"

The Valkyrie was lost for words, twiddling her fingers as she tried to come up with something to say. The dedication put into the character was admirable. If he didn't already know, Sam would've never suspected that the woman standing in front of him was a robot.

"That's right!" She looked up with a start, but her voice slowly died near the end. "I wanted to ask about the… results…"

"Come again?"

"It's… about the experiment…" Her face seemed to grow redder with each word. "I wanted to know if… if you learned something…"

"Ah, I guess you would be curious, huh? It involves you, after all." Sam pushed himself off the chair. "But first, let me ask you one question, Zero Five."

"Yes?"

"Do you wish to be seen as a human?" His question was something he had thought about repeatedly before coming up with his plan. "If, hypothetically, I decided to recognize you as a human. What would you do?"

The flustered expression the Valkyrie wore slowly faded as she turned to look at him, her eyes wandering down a couple of seconds later. She seemed lost in thought, giving the question the amount of consideration it deserves.

"Nothing." She eventually said. "Even if you were to recognize me as a human, it wouldn't change the fact that I am a Valkyrie—a weapon created to fight the Calamities and to defend humanity."

Her voice was even, and her tone was clear, as if she wholeheartedly believed every word she spoke. The statement was likely preprogrammed into her AI, though, so it was difficult to tell whether she was sincere or not.

'What am I thinking…' Sam caught himself in that moment. 'Since when did sincerity apply to robots?'

Robots didn't have feelings. The responses they give are nothing more than lines generated based on the data they had been trained on. No matter how realistic they sounded, there was nothing else to what they said.

"Right…"

Now that he had discovered a way around the obstacles preventing him from enjoying the weapon, Sam took his time feasting on Zero Five's beauty. Nothing was holding him back from enjoying her in other ways, but he decided to take things slowly, one step at a time. There was no need to rush.

Noticing her embarrassment growing under his gaze, Sam decided that it was time to give her the answer she came looking for. He hadn't stopped searching for one ever since he heard her question, so it didn't take him long to come up with something to say.

"To tell you the truth, I learned quite a lot."

One step, then another. Sam carefully approached the ponytailed Valkyrie, stopping just a step away from her. He extended his right hand, reaching for her raven hair before letting it rest on her cheek, gently caressing it.

"Your hair and skin don't just look like those of a human; they also feel the same," He said. "Though it would be very difficult to find a human who's as perfect as you are."

Just when he thought she couldn't get any redder, her bashfulness reached another level, and he felt her rising heat through his palm. All of that from a light touch and a few words of praise.

"What else…" Pretending to give an objective, scientific observation, Sam let his gaze wander down. "I learned that your chest is too heavy. If you were a normal human, it would surely have caused you a lot of shoulder and back pain. Of course, humans could only wish to have the same proportions as you. Your body has some fat in all the right places, but I don't know if it's really fat." Stopping for a moment, Sam then added one more thing. "Lastly, I learned that your saliva isn't poisonous." That was a lie. He had already read it in the blueprints; otherwise, he wouldn't have risked kissing her at all.

The spit created by the Valkyries wasn't identical to that of humans, but it was close enough, and none of the components were a risk to his health.

"I see…" Zero Five nodded before flashing him a rare smile. "Doctor sure is amazing. To be able to learn all of that from just a little physical contact."

"... This much is nothing…" Closing his eyes, Sam cursed his heart for skipping a beat. "I need to perform many more experiments before I can have a definitive answer."

"There are more experiments!!?"

Zero Five's eyes widened, her back straightening as if she were hit with a lightning bolt.

"O-of course…" startled by her sudden reaction, Sam withdrew his hand, then pretended to clear his throat. "There is a lot more to learn, after all."

For a moment there, he feared that the Valkyrie was disturbed by their little experiment, to the point that she would refuse to participate in the future. Though robots might not feel discomfort, there was still the chance that their AI might flag some interactions as inappropriate, which could lead to him being exposed. Sam had been too focused on Eir's data, to the point that he never even considered the chance that the Valkyries might be the ones to expose him.

Fortunately, his fears turned out to be unwarranted. Seeing the determination in her eyes as she looked up at him, her cheeks still flushed, Sam knew that the ponytailed Valkyrie would never betray him.

"In that case, please feel free to use me again!" Stepping forward, Zero Five placed a hand on her ample bosom. "If I could be of help to you, Doctor, nothing would make me happier!"

Among the many predictions Sam had of what she was going to say, nothing came close to that declaration. The Valkyrie had offered herself to him. She knew exactly what those experiments would entail, yet she was enthusiastically asking to be used for them, and that could only mean one thing.

'I… I did it…' As he came to that realization, Sam's eyes began to widen. 'I actually did it?'
