__________
It wasn't long before they were finished stealing all of Zanis' prized possessions, a vindictive glee surging through Lili's body, her blood singing in her veins.
Yet…
Despite the high of it all, as soon as they left Zanis' bedroom behind and started making their way through the massive manor to the main destination of their visit here, that feeling swiftly fled.
It was replaced by a dread, a familiar fear and dread. One born of her time being tormented within the Soma Familia, one born of her weakness, both physically and mentally.
'Soma wine.' she bit her lip as she followed Caelan through the huge winding hallways, towards Soma's office. The closer they got, the heavier she felt.
The dread pooled so deep, that when the doors to his office came into sight, she had stopped walking altogether, her legs turned to lead.
'Move!' she demanded, hissing furiously in her mind. Yet her body refused to comply with her brains orders. 'I'm such a coward!' she bit her lip.
"Lili?" Caelan paused and looked over his shoulder at her, brow raised, "You okay?"
"I…ah…" she fumbled for a moment before forcing herself to swallow, "Lili is fine…just nerves I suppose."
Her mind flashed and she remembered those cold, uncaring dark eyes of the god of wine, judging her and finding her, wanting.
Worthless.
That was all she had ever-
Caelan's large strong and warm hand on her head crushed those thoughts, "It'd be weird if you didn't have any to be honest," the muscular boy mused, "You want to wait here? I can handle it and you'll only need to see Soma when he's getting rid of his claim to your falna."
She blinked, mouth opening and closing as she sought words, "Really?" Lili asked, a weak part of herself feeling warm and hopeful, just wanting to leave it all up to Caelan, "But…don't I need to overcome him myself, see him face to face and rise above these weak feelings of mine? Look him in the eye and show him and the Soma Familia I'm not their little toy to throw around as they please."
That was the kind of thing the heroes always talked about in stories for overcoming things like this. What the strong always declared, how they moved past things like that. Even the Braver himself stated such things before in public speeches, the greatest prumm alive in the world, the legendary Finn Diemme
She didn't expect Caelan to snort, "Where'd you get that? A kids story book?" he asked, making her blink, "That's the stupidest advice I've ever heard. Emotions don't work like that Lili. Years of abuse and torment don't just go away just cuz you've resolved yourself to stand up to your abusers. Only the sappiest, most naive idiots with no clue how the world works or a complete liar would spout crap like that."
Did that mean he was calling Finn Diemme a childish naive sappy fool, or lying snake? Either one wasn't good really.
To so thoroughly denounce the words of legendary heroes, told since ages past and mock their words.
…That was Caelan indeed.
He ruffled her hair, "If you don't want to deal with Soma, you don't need to Lili, leave it to me, and I'll take care of it for you."
Tears prickled at the corners of her eyes, a great well of emotion surging up within her, warmth, gratitude, blazing happiness and more, she could really do it then. Just let Caelan do it, she didn't need to-
She crushed those thoughts with a sudden resolve, 'No.' she decided. Because a horrible feeling and thought assaulted her then. Suddenly, she wasn't thinking about overcoming all of her past with Soma and his familia.
But…if she was too weak to even confront Soma, then how could she be Caelan's supporter? How could she become someone he would rely on?
"Thanks…but I'm fine, I just needed a second, Lili is good to go Caelan." Lili smiled brightly.
He held her gaze for a second, before grinning, "Alright, let's do it in style then babe." Caelan gave her a cheeky wink, and she squeaked as he reached around her and gave her ass a squeeze, before turning around, marching up to the massive heavy double mahogany doors that led to Soma's chambers and office, the place where he spent all his time and brewed his special divine wine-
And lashed out with a powerful kick that blew both expensive massive doors off their hinges, "Knock knock, delivery!"
The doors landed inside the gods chambers with a thunderous crash that echoed throughout the entire manor. Yet, not a sound was made after.
Nobody came running.
'As expected after what Caelan did to them all.' she thought vindictively following him inside. She saw him immediately as she entered.
The main office of Soma's chambers were massive. Semi-circular with rows upon rows of massive shelves lining the walls, hundreds of shelves, all filled to the brim with ingredients, equipment and bottles of wine.
The vast majority of them duds.
And Soma himself? The same as she remembered. Pale, gaunt, with long shaggy unkept black hair that fell below his shoulder blades and covered his eyes. Forget changing his look, he hadn't even changed his cloths since she last saw him over a year ago. Dressed in a simple pair of white leggings and long sleeved robe tunic that fell to his thighs. He was stood as always, over a massive pot, stirring, always stirring.
He didn't even look up at their bombastic entrance.
The massive chamber fell silent. The only sound echoing throughout it for a few brief tense moments being the churning of liquid as Soma continued to stir, ignoring everything.
"Gonna just ignore me then?" Caelan snorted, crossing his arms.
Well, tense only applied to her. Caelan was casual, in his element. And Soma, just didn't care.
The god didn't even look over at the the sound of the boys voice.
"Locked in huh? Usually I'd respect that, being able to lock in that well and hyper focus on your goals like that, but I'm kind of pissed off with you, ya' see," Caelan shrugged walking over, lifting a clenched fist. Before bringing it down on Soma's enormous ornate desk. With a boom, it crumbled under the blow, falling into a heap of splinters, "I'm not one of your useless flunkies either, and I don't give a fuck that you're a god. Take your eyes off that stupid fucking wine for a minute and give me your attention, or that tub of piss water you're brewing will end up like your desk, got it?"
