Chapter 171 - Chapter 14

The alarm rang all of a sudden I didn't hesitate. I zipped out and got all my family to Isadora's place in the blink of an eye. I went back to the roof to watch the stars. The wolf who previously had questions just stared at me. The others came up one by one to catch a glimpse and they waited till I came down. I was annoyed that the science department has been creating these monstrosities in the name finding a way to change them back. I walked into the living room and screamed to express my displeasure. I roared but somehow everyone knew what I was saying. For hundreds of years I have been saying the same thing that falls on deaf ears. Stop funding these people they are not interested in saving everyone. They just wanted to kill everyone. The fact the new one pops up every other Thursday should have convince them to quit but somehow they are at it. I screamed my frustration and the others joined in. I am going file a complaint and have their funding yanked. Whoever is bankrolling them is going to end up bankrupt and on the street begging for scraps. I saw smiling faces as I laid out my plan. The emperor was informed and he ordered any and all funding for these zombie makers to end.

The scientists didn't like the new order of business. They protested outside city hall claimed they were close to a cure. I had to pinch the bridge of my nose as I breathed through my mouth. I have so many grievances with these so called geniuses but no matter what they seem to gain supporers and somehow make things worse. I wanted smack some sense into them but refrained from it. I chose to stay in the house and practice my fencing. A few werewolves were openly questioned. The public wanted to know who forewarned them. One werewolf name Hawk mentioned he overheard two people arguing and took their words as fact. He said he was in his car when he heard the conversation so he didn't see their faces. Afterwards the reporters asked Terrance if he had seen me. He grinned, "I see her in my dreams. She truly cares about us. Most people treat us like tools. To her we are family." The woman stared flabbergasted. Terry grinned, "Anything else?" She asked if I would be arriving here any time soon. He made it clear wherever I was is none of her business. The public has nothing to worry about since I am the descendant of the first vampire and werewolf. The Nocturnal community is my family. I wouldn't trade them for the world.

The woman asked if a situation occurs where I have to chose between them and someone else. I screamed that I wanted to rip out her heart. He laughed, "We are the only ones she cares about. This scenario exists only inside your head. All because you are living in place that encourages mistrust. I grew up listening to it. Trust nobody. I know that she wouldn't abandon us. There will never come a situation where she would chose otherwise because she has already chosen us. Once you change into us your mindset is fixed. She has decided permanently to bind herself to us. I have seen memories of people who interacted with her. Her words exact words were 'their fate will be the same as mine' so why the heck should I bother wasting my precious time thinking there is a traitor amongst us when there is none." She blinked three times, "Is there a loyalty clause you have to sign to become a Nocturnal?" He grinned, "After years of lies and excuses I finally have a family who has shown me unconditional love. I feel that honesty and love every day. I know they won't betray me. Loyalty is not a clause we sign in a piece of paper. Amongst us love is naturally ingrained. Hate and secrecy is unwelcome" she stared, "Do you speak of your days as a soldier?" He frowned, "I am meant my time as a human. All I got was heartache and distrust. Here the grass is greener and sweeter. We don't keep secrets and we work as one."

She asked if he knew my location. He grinned, "We all do. But we only let her out when we know she will not be harmed. All of these scientists are trying to do is create a global disaster. They pretend to fix things but in six hundred years has anyone sent a weaker version of a zombie. No! All they did was make more even dreadful version and unleash it on the population and hid. Almost like they want the population to be absolute zero." She asked again where I was. He asked why does she have such a vested interested in my whereabouts. She kindly explained my shield has learned to deflect every variety. So it is in the best interest of the population to wake me up. He laughed, "It is actually in everyone's best interest to stop creating these things to wipe us all out. Once the labs stop creating these chompers we will be resting peacefully. As far as she is concerned. Indeed she has earned her rest and we are not going to disturb her." She asked how many people has to die before they wake me up. He countered, "How many people has to die before the government decide to stop funding them so will stop making more and more deadly variants to kill us. Quit the lies lady and just say you want the entire earth to yourself. It is an earth where the human and Nocturnal population is zero. You just want her awake so she will protect you while everyone else is eaten alive"

I mentally gave him a hug for his bravery. I appreciated his honesty. He was smiling the entire time while the reporter tried to counter but all she could do was splutter in anger. I cheered him on as he braved all those horrible ones. He was actually laughing internally. A few wolves were happily explaining to him the gravity of the situation. Also their personal experience with the chompers. He gladly related everything and walked away. I was trying to figure out what type of present to give them as thanks for their bravery. I was thinking ice cream. I suddenly remembered they can't eat that anymore. So maybe a new wardrobe. I was kindly reminded that they are men. So maybe a care package. A box full of meat. Select premium cuts of meat. I couldn't decide between Wagyu or Hanwoo. I was trying to come up with a selection when Oleg sent them the package. They sent their thanks and asked me to stay calm. I promised to do so when someone stops the idiot trying to blow up wall. History is trying repeat itself and I am not having it. I showed him where to look. He immediately informed the police. They took their sweet time getting there. Unfortunately they got there minutes after the blast.

Everyone in the city heard the boom. Panic spread like wildfire. I really miss Tsar. Things worked smoothly back then. I issue a warning the nearest Dark knight would handle it. They were pretty fast in response to bomb threats. I miss the Howler brothers. Whoever they arrest which they were never born. I took a deep breath and told my family to stay still so I can get them out in a wink. I zipped out and pulled them out two at a time. I stopped when everyone was safely inside Isadora's. I looked out the balcony to see the nastiest zombies chase the people all over. I went back inside and took a shower. I had sinking feeling so I asked for a head count. I needed to be sure everyone was here. A few heart pounding minutes later my blood pressure went down. They were grinning as I walked back and forth. I asked which damned fool has decided to play games with everyone's lives. The CCTV was out for the count but the private cameras recorded everything. The video will go viral once the zombies were put in their place. Until then we are stuck. I took a deep breath and extended the shield so they won't come here. Oleg made sure everyone knew. They smiled as they felt my anxiety rise. Shield is out so serenity in. Deep breath later I sat down to figure out what was next.

I took a deep breath and told everyone I will get the helix so they can escape the city. I have a bad feeling so they waited in the roof. I flew to the airstrip and got a helix airborne. I flew back to the city and landed on the terrace. I ordered all the pilots to board it so they can come back with more helixes. They returned after fifteen minutes. Once I made had sure everyone was safely in. I flew into the air. I stayed closed to Oleg. He watched me as I glued myself to the side. The pilot gave me a wink and got us to the next city. The labs had a self destruct device that detonated and destroyed any and all pertinent information that could be compromising. I knocked on the door and they opened it briefly to let me in. Once I was inside they shut the door. We flew past a military craft. It's purpose was to send out a signal that would herd the zombies to a safe zone so they could blast them to oblivion. I shook my head. I have seen this movie before. The safe zone is their secret lab that created the nasty ones last week. Now they are here trying to destroy the place to avoid persecution. No proof no crime. Shallow shallow people. Sunrise and sunsets but somethings will stay the same.
