__________
It sure was amusing watching an arrogant twats smug, sneering face pale in horror and lips pull apart as their jaw dropped in disbelief.
Perhaps I wasn't one to talk considering I was a bit of an arrogant twat myself. It was still amusing though.
"W-what the hell are those!?" my opponent sputtered as the gathered crowd watching from the stands went absolutely ballistic at the sight of my Steelix.
Crystal Steelix that is.
People were standing up from their seats for better looks, pulling phones and cameras out. I even saw Professor Sycamore himself, wide eyed sit up in his chair a little more, shoulders squared and gaze completely centred on my pokemon.
"Two of my newest, weaker pokemon," I shrugged, smirking at Everett. Oh I knew who this little turd was exactly. I remember him. He was that one loser that failed to get all eight gym badges for the Lumiose conference in that other timeline, and tried to stop Ash from being able to register. Even tried to force him into a battle and not give him time to make it, so he'd be disqualified, "I figured I'd take it easy on you since you don't look much as far as trainers go."
"Raaaa!" Steelix roared loudly, angling his gleaming body in just the right way for the sun to hit his crystal body and gleam beautifully. Preening as people cheered, gasped and took pictures of him.
He was a bit of a preening peacock I'd found. Very pleased every time someone saw his crystal body and was awed by his beauty.
Rhyperior on the other hand, rolled his eyes and yawned. The massive behemoth was a simple creature who enjoyed spending his days eating, lazing away and sleeping when not training or battling.
I'd picked them both up in the Orange Islands before I made my way to Galar. Steelix as an Onix on Sunburst Island, and Rhyperior as a Rhydon on the island of Giant Pokemon, where practically every pokemon there was an Alpha pokemon.
Most of them being of the Rhyhorn or Pidgey line. He had been the biggest and strongest I'd seen.
"You bastard….are…are you underestimating me!?" Everett sputtered, his outrage overcoming his disbelief and fear.
I just smiled and said nothing.
Which only served to piss him off more, "Ref, start the match!" he demanded of the referee who was staring at Steelix, mouth agape.
The referee glanced back at him at his words, before shaking his head and nodding, "Begin!"
"Both of you, quickly rush them! Iron Tail!" Everett wasted no time, all but snarling the command out.
Both Furfrou looked at each other, trepidation clear on their faces. Before, to their credit, they steeled themselves, and after barking at each other, rushed towards my pokemon at breakneck speeds.
You know, they're kind of cute.
Maybe I should get one?
'Slow though.' I mused, watching them, letting them rush in for a few split moments, before smirking, "Steelix, Screech."
Steelix grinned widely, coiling around, massive head lowering to the ground just as both canine pokemon reached close enough to jump at him, both of their tails gleaming with silvery power, "RAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" he roared once more.
Only this time, a massive corona of sound waves erupted in a compressed beam of sound that slammed into both Furfrou', smashing them from the air.
Not only a powerful shock wave of sound that was outright carving a trench in the ground, but seeped into their very muscles, weakening them.
"Rhyperior, Rock Wrecker!" I followed up with a quick shout.
Rhyperior snorted dismissively at both canines, before slamming his massive palms together, before pulling them apart to show off massive shards of rock escaping from the holes in his palms, forming together into a sphere of glowing red rock that grew and grew until it was over ten feet in diameter.
With a shout, he thrust both hands outwards sending the massive boulder flying towards them like a rocket.
It slammed straight through the sound wave keeping them pinned and smashed into them with devastating force that rocked the area, before erupting in a shower of debris and energy.
When it cleared, it was to show both Furfrou collapsed in the middle of a crater, completely unable to continue.
"No…how can this be?" Everett stared at his defeated pokemon in disbelief. He almost looked like he was about to cry.
Mate, it isn't that serious.
"Quite easily." I shrugged, lifting my hands holding a pair of Luxury Balls and returning Rhyperior and Steelix to their balls, before turning and walking away.
"Winner….Jord Odhar!" the referee called a minute later, and the crowd went wild.
I didn't really feel any satisfaction though. I wasn't kidding about Steelix and Rhyperior being two of my newest and weakest pokemon.
In fact, they might actually be my weakest pokemon.
I'd caught three more after them in the Crown Tundra. Two quite obviously being Regieleki and Regidrago I'd went there for specifically.
And the final was given to me by a funny old man with a taste for mushrooms. Who'd completely wasted my entire team three times in a row when I battled him.
He might have been even stronger than Lance.
I'd almost consider this tournament a waste of time, even with the possible prize. If not for a few people I'd caught sight of throughout the arena and stands.
Serena wasn't the only surprise. I glanced up at her in the stands as I left, and my eyebrows rose a bit as I found her looking right at me with a big smile on her face.
I gave her a cheeky wink, making her smile widen further. My attention wasn't just on her however.
But the pretty mocha skinned girl beside her. Shauna. And I'd seen Tierno in the first round. And no doubt Trevor was somewhere around here as well. Which was another massive change.
While they were from here in the games and manga, they weren't in the anime. Not to mention the fact that Serena already had pokemon.
Three of them according to Mewtwo.
She shouldn't have any yet.
'None of them from my brief mental scan, were of the Fennekin line either.' Mewtwo added.
Very odd.
