[Flashback: Minutes Ago The Vane Ducal Castle Hallways]
Duke Kael Vane walked slowly beside Emperor Aldric, intentionally taking the longest, most winding route to the Grand Winter Hall.
He was desperately buying time for his grandchildren to humiliate the twins.
This man is a fool, the Duke thought. A terrifying, monstrous fool to care so much for commoner trash.
In this world, magic was divided into three core paths: Weapon Users, Beast Contractors, and Spell Users. Among Spell Users, the two absolute pinnacles of cosmic power were Light and Darkness
.
Emperor Aldric was the supreme master of Darkness.
His mana was so overwhelmingly dense that even Grand Duke Yash the Primordial God of Time and Space had openly admitted that in a full power deathmatch, Aldric could actually defeat him.
Aldric's power was so absolute that he was the very first mortal in the history of the universe to be offered ascension to a Primordial God.
But Aldric had flatly refused the heavens. He chose to remain mortal so he could stay on Earth and protect his fragile, human family.
To a man like Duke Vane, it was the most idiotic, pathetic choice a ruler could make.
This is the ultimate blindness of the power-hungry: they look at a god who chooses to walk as a mortal out of love, and they mistake his profound sacrifice for weakness.
Suddenly, both men stopped dead in their tracks in the freezing corridor.
A heavy, suffocating wave of pure, unfiltered Killing Intent leaked through the thick stone walls.
It was coming directly from the Grand Winter Hall.
Emperor Aldric's icy eyes widened. Without a single word, he vanished into a silent blur of dark mana, rushing toward the heavy iron doors.
[Present The Grand Winter Hall]
As the Emperor's terrifying, demonic voice echoed through the hall, the massive spike of adrenaline that had been keeping little Leo on his feet completely vanished.
The agonizing pain from his seared hand, combined with the sheer exhaustion of accidentally awakening his Killing Intent, completely short-circuited his tiny body.
Leo's eyes rolled back in his head, and he collapsed toward the hard stone floor.
SWISH.
Emperor Aldric moved exponentially faster than the eye could track.
He rushed forward, his heavy winter cloak flaring behind him, and dropped straight to his knees, catching the five year old boy safely against his chest before he hit the ground.
The entire room of elite Northern nobles gasped in absolute, horrified shock.
In his entire life, the absolute ruler of the Kaelen Empire had only kneeled once when he proposed to the late Empress Elara.
Now, he was kneeling in the dirt and snow for an adopted orphan.
Aldric carefully cradled Leo in one massive arm. He looked silently at the blistering burn mark on the boy's small hand.
His glacial eyes slowly lifted, locking onto Gareth, Freya, and Duke Vane, who had just rushed frantically into the room.
"You are truly lucky," Emperor Aldric said. His voice was deadly quiet, yet it echoed with absolute, crushing finality in the very souls of everyone in the room.
"You are lucky that his parents, his uncle, and his aunt are not here right now. Because if Zion or Seraphina saw this burn... they would not hesitate to wipe the North off the map."
Duke Vane fell heavily to his knees, his scarred face drained of blood.
"But I am not cruel and impulsive like you," Aldric continued, his Sovereign aura leaking into the freezing air like thick, black smoke.
"I will not start a continental war over children's squabbles. But remember this very carefully, Duke. Do not ever make a mistake like this again. This is your final warning."
Aldric reached out with his free armored hand, gently taking the trembling Mia's tiny fingers.
As he turned his broad back to leave, he let a microscopic fraction of his absolute Darkness mana fall directly onto Duke Vane.
THUD.
Duke Vane collapsed flat onto his stomach, violently gasping for air.
In his mind, he was instantly trapped in a horrifying, inescapable illusion.
He experienced his own brutal, violent death one hundred times in a single second.
The sheer, apocalyptic terror of the Emperor's power was so overwhelming that the mighty Duke of the North completely forgot how to breathe, choking pathetically on his own saliva as the Emperor walked away.
Once the Royal carriage was completely gone from the courtyard, the illusion broke.
Duke Vane pushed himself up from the stone floor, gasping and heaving for air.
His terror instantly morphed into explosive, humiliated rage.
"YOU FOOLS!" Vane roared, violently backhanding his own grandson, Gareth, sending the six year old crashing to the floor.
"You arrogant little brats! I told you to humiliate them, not physically torture the Emperor's grandchildren! You nearly got our entire bloodline exterminated!"
He turned to the terrified servants lining the walls. "Throw these two into the freezing dungeons for the night! Let them learn the absolute price of their stupidity!"
[The Imperial Capital The Main Palace Infirmary]
The Royal Carriage rode through the night at maximum speed, arriving back at the heavily fortified Capital just before dawn.
The Chief Imperial Doctor was already waiting in the pristine royal infirmary.
After a tense, entirely silent examination, the Doctor turned to Emperor Aldric.
"Princess Mia is perfectly fine, Your Majesty," the Doctor reported.
"Just a minor bruise on her cheek. As for Prince Leo... his life is safe, and we have fully healed the burn on his hand."
Aldric let out a heavy, shuddering breath.
"Then why is he not waking up?"
"Because of the Killing Intent, Your Majesty," the Doctor explained nervously.
"To awaken such a dense, deadly aura at five years old is entirely unprecedented. The sheer magnitude of that pressure completely shocked his undeveloped nervous system. His body forced him into a deep, comatose sleep to protect his mana core. He is safe, but he may not wake up for at least four days."
"I see. Thank you, Doctor," Aldric said, dismissing him with a wave of his hand.
The Emperor looked down at the sleeping Leo. What a mess, Aldric thought, rubbing his temples in exhaustion.
I didn't think things would turn out like this. If Zion or Seraphina find out the North laid a hand on him... there will be absolute bloodshed.
He turned around. Little Mia was sitting on the edge of the adjacent medical bed. She was staring at her small boots, her tiny body trembling violently.
"Mia?" Aldric asked gently, stepping closer and shedding his heavy Imperial cloak.
"Are you okay? Are you angry with me?"
Mia shook her head, her big, innocent eyes filling with heavy tears.
"No... Grandpa, are you angry with us? We caused trouble... We made the Northern kids mad."
Aldric's heart broke. He knelt down to her eye level, ignoring the cold floor, and pulled the five-year-old girl into a tight, incredibly warm hug.
"Why are you apologizing to me?" Aldric whispered softly.
"It is entirely okay. I am not angry with you at all. I know you want to cry, Mia. I know you are holding it back because you think you have to look strong while your brother is asleep. You do not need to hold back here."
The exact moment he said that, the dam broke. Mia buried her face in the Emperor's tunic and began to sob uncontrollably.
"I hate them!" Mia cried, gripping his shirt with her tiny fists.
"I hate anyone who hurts my brother! I didn't like it when they pushed him! I wanted to hurt them back!"
Aldric gently stroked her hair, his eyes filled with a fierce, protective light.
"Then become strong, Mia Become so terrifyingly strong that no one in this world can ever push you or your brother around again. I will personally teach you."
As Mia cried herself to sleep in his arms, Aldric looked over at Leo.
To awaken their Killing Instinct at five years old... I didn't even do that. Zion couldn't even do that until he was eight.
How is this possible? It takes years of trauma and brutal battlefield experience to manifest that aura. No. It's not just their Budla Aditya talent. It's their unique, unbroken souls.
The desperate, absolute desire to protect the only family they have ever known forced their bodies to evolve past their limits.
The deepest, most terrifying strength in the universe does not come from a desire to conquer the world, but from the absolute, unyielding need to protect the fragile things you love from it.
[The Eastern Territory Imperial Zenith Academy Dormitories]
Night had fallen over the jagged, snowy mountains of the East.
Inside the incredibly luxurious, heavily guarded "Sovereign Tier" dormitories of the Academy, the atmosphere was entirely different.
Nineteen year old Elena Valerius and Vanya Thorne sat in their private, heavily warded lounge, entirely isolated from the rest of the student body.
"The classes officially start tomorrow," Elena smirked, casually swirling a glass of sparkling water.
"I saw the roster. Lyra's name is on it. She hasn't withdrawn."
Vanya crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing with petty malice.
"Good. The Emperor's guards can't follow her into the practical exams. My father's assassins failed, but we won't."
Elena smiled, pulling a small, beautifully crafted crystalline vial from her uniform pocket. The liquid inside was completely clear and odorless.
"Exactly," Elena whispered, her eyes dark with murderous intent.
"We don't need broadswords or elite assassins. Tomorrow during the mana-control assessment, we will make sure our dear, pregnant Princess has a very unfortunate... magical accident. And once the babies are gone, the Second Prince will throw her away."
