Light… it was so bright. Maybe too bright.
Shen Yu's eyes slowly opened, only to close again immediately as the harsh light forced him to blink repeatedly. When he tried again, his vision adjusted slowly, but something felt off—his eyes were strangely sensitive.
Usually, with the floor-to-ceiling windows in his room, sunlight had never been a problem. Bright light had never bothered him before, but today, his eyes clearly begged to differ.
He slowly tried to sit up, and that's when he realized the scent.
Whisky and rosewood.
It was a strange combination, unfamiliar, yet it smelled insanely good. Even though it was the first time he had encountered such a scent, he recognized it instantly.
It was his.
The realization felt strange… but at the same time, it felt right.
"H-he's… he's awake…"
A voice came from his right.
