Chapter 79: Respective Plans, The War Begins
However, what made them even more speechless was what came next.
"I also gave that nation the design blueprints for a weapon called G-Meteor. It's a super-strategic weapon capable of pulling asteroids out of orbit to crash into the planet."
"That thing is even more sci-fi than the G-Fleet. Logically speaking, they shouldn't have been able to build it, so I threw it in with the rest of the junk I sold them."
The moment those words left his mouth, everyone simultaneously massaged their temples.
"A black object shot into outer space just a moment ago. I'm guessing they actually managed to build it."
"This..." Potimas was visibly embarrassed on the spot.
Things were getting more and more ridiculous; even he was starting to feel a bit helpless.
"Are you out of your mind?! Why would you invent something like that for no reason?!"
Faced with Ariel's furious interrogation, Potimas casually replied, "I was bored and passing the time. Just a casual sketch. Why get so hostile? I wasn't the one who built it, so I'm not taking the blame for this."
"You piece of—!!"
Ariel nearly lost her mind at such a shameless statement. If Shirazawa hadn't held her back, the old elf's head would have definitely been severed from his shoulders by now.
"Oh, right." As if remembering something crucial, Potimas spoke up again. "The warship is equipped with a GMA Bomb containing a massive amount of MA Energy. Its yield is high enough to blow up the largest continent on this planet. If it detonates, no one will survive. The original design concept was to ensure mutual destruction with the enemy. Once the warship is destroyed, the bomb will automatically detonate."
The moment he said this, no one could stay calm anymore. Especially Ariel. Shirazawa was using every ounce of his strength, yet he could barely restrain her sheer determination to murder the old elf.
Fortunately, Shiro stepped in to help. The two pinned Ariel by her arms, leaving the frantic Demon Lord kicking wildly in midair. This finally prevented her from doing something irreversible.
"Is there anything else you haven't confessed? Spit it all out at once."
"Hmm... there shouldn't be anything else."
"Huh? What do you mean *shouldn't be*?!"
"Uh, that's all."
"Hmph!"
The scene fell into a brief silence. Finally, Gülie let out a long sigh and began organizing the battle plan.
"I'll handle the G-Meteor in outer space. You guys are responsible for dealing with the warship."
With him taking the lead, Pope Dustin added, "This old man will rally soldiers to intercept the mechanical guards on the ground."
According to Gülie's estimates, it would take half a day at most for the mechanical guards to reach human settlements and begin a massive slaughter. Driven by his unyielding conviction to protect humanity, Dustin naturally couldn't sit back and watch. Even Potimas stated that he would deploy his own mechanical forces to help intercept the rampaging army.
As for the fighter jets in the sky, Gülie assigned that task to the unreliable Hyuvan. Finally, the remaining four—the Demon Lord, Potimas, Shirazawa, and Shiro—would be responsible for infiltrating the warship and rewriting the detonation sequence of the GMA Bomb.
With the strategy settled, Gülie was the first to step through a spatial gate, heading into outer space. Dustin and Potimas wasted no more time either, utilizing teleportation magic to assemble their respective forces.
On Shirazawa's end, because he was worried that Sophia and her servant would be caught in the crossfire, he sent them straight into the Great Elroe Labyrinth. He was worried the old elf might play dirty tricks behind their backs, but with the spider army guarding them, they wouldn't have to worry about the duo's safety.
As for deploying his own spider army to assist in the war effort? Of course that was impossible. That was his ultimate trump card; there was no way he would show it off so easily.
Ariel, however, was a different story. A summoning magic circle flared to life, and the four Queen Taratects made a grand entrance. Four Myth-class giant spiders materialized onto the battlefield, followed by an endless swarm of Super and Greater Taratects. Their job was to coordinate with Dustin to handle the massive swarm of mechanical guards on the ground. Otherwise, relying solely on humanity's army of thirty thousand to handle these troublesome constructs would clearly be unreliable. Even though Potimas had brought a large force of mechanical soldiers, they were still vastly outnumbered.
With preparations complete, the great war was on the verge of breaking out.
"Aze, I feel like the old elf is definitely hiding something. Would he ever do anything without a profit motive?" Shiro whispered via Telepathy.
"It's fine. Once we're inside, your job is to keep your eyes locked on him. Leave the rest to me." Shirazawa obviously knew what Potimas was after. But he didn't care in the slightest. The elf's target was the MA Energy inside the GMA Bomb. Coincidentally, so was theirs. This was their golden ticket to achieving Godhood.
"Shiro, in a bit, you do this, then you do that, and finally you do that..." He explained the follow-up battle plan to her with a deadpan expression, leaving Shiro completely horrified.
"B-but... I'm scared..." *Aze actually wants me to eat a bomb? Is he trying to murder his own wife? And then live a happy life with some other trashy, flashy woman? Damn it, just thinking about it makes me furious.* Shiro had already scripted a melodramatic soap opera in her head, wild thoughts intertwining frantically.
Perhaps due to a telepathic connection, Shirazawa seemed to see right through her inner thoughts, his mouth twitching slightly. "Fine, I'll eat it."
"Ehehe, then you eat it."
"..." Shirazawa stared at her. "Shiro, you've turned bad."
"Have I?"
Looking into her clear, bright eyes, Shirazawa felt a bit choked up. *It must be that idiot Sophia who corrupted my Shiro. Yes! It has to be.* His Shiro was so cute; how could she be such a scheming woman?
Meanwhile, in a pitch-black cave, Sophia let out a sudden sneeze: "Achoo!"
Looking at the dense, squirming spider army before her, her face turned pale. Spiders were just too terrifying! "Mera, I want to go home. This place is too scary, waah..."
"Young Lady, the outside isn't safe. Please endure it a bit longer." Mera could only offer his sympathy, unable to help.
"Wahhh..."
***
Back on the battlefield, Shirazawa's plan was progressing smoothly. Finding themselves with a moment of idleness, the two turned their attention toward the four spider sisters.
"Isn't the little ones' combat power a bit low? Should we give them an upgrade?"
"Yes!"
Right on the eve of the battle, the two extracted ancient steel from the surrounding wreckage. Utilizing the
With that, all preparatory work was finished.
A massive, sweeping army had assembled across the wasteland; anyone looking on would think a world war was about to erupt. As Dustin's teleportation mages—responsible for summoning the human army—all dropped dead from total mana depletion, the war officially commenced.
"Do not let the heroic spirits who sacrificed themselves for the Holy War die in vain! Warriors, charge!" Dustin waved his staff, rallying the human reinforcement soldiers.
"KILL—!!!"
A synchronized battle cry shattered the clouds. Every warrior spurred their mount forward, charging toward the oncoming mechanical horde.
Shirazawa sighed inwardly. Though these human soldiers were weak and pathetic in their eyes, not a single one showed a hint of cowardice. He had to admit, religious brainwashing was incredibly effective. *I should chat with Dustin another day. Technically, I'm a Divine Beast of the Goddess Religion too; maybe I can go bluff some people later and see if I can raise a meat-shield legion of my own.*
Positioned behind the human soldiers were two thousand mecha units brought by the old elf. Each stood five meters tall, equipped with a swarm of mechanical legs below and a torso covered in dark gun barrels. Though they were hideous, Potimas explained that it was purely for practicality. As long as their combat prowess was high, who cared if they were ugly?
Seeing this, Ariel waved her hand grandly. The four Queen Taratects took the lead, their heavy steps guiding the spider army to steamroll forward. The four spider sisters also blended into the ranks, joining the fray.
As for the two thousand G-Tri in the sky, they were intercepted by the eight thousand Wind Dragons led by Hyuvan. Unfortunately, despite having the numerical advantage, the gap in raw strength was rather stark. There were only about twenty Upper Wind Dragons; the rest were Lower Dragon breeds and Upper Wyrm breeds. The situation in the air was gradually turning unfavorable.
"Let's go. It's our turn to move." Ariel grinned, her small canine teeth flashing with confident radiance under the sunlight.
"And how do you plan on getting up there?" the old elf chimed in timely, dampening the mood.
"This..." Ariel, who lacked flight capabilities, was stunned. *Right, how the hell are we supposed to get into the sky?*
After a brief pause, a metaphorical lightbulb popped up over her head. "Got it!"
She slightly bent her knees, reached back, and grabbed the arms of the two spider-girls.
"Are you two ready?"
An ominous feeling instantly rose in Shirazawa's heart, but Ariel didn't seem to give them a chance to answer.
*BOOM!*
"Yeehaw!"
"Blast off—!"
