Keifer POV

I don't remember how many hours had passed.

Ten.

Maybe eleven.

All I knew was that I hadn't left her side.

Not once.

Jay lay peacefully on the hospital bed while machines quietly monitored her condition.

I sat beside her.

Watching.

Waiting.

Praying.

Every single second felt like an hour.

Then suddenly—

Her fingers moved.

I immediately sat up.

"Jay?" I said.

Her eyelashes fluttered.

Slowly.

Carefully.

Then her eyes opened.

For a moment she looked confused.

Lost.

Like she didn't know where she was.

Relief crashed into me so hard that I almost laughed.

"Jay."

I gently brushed her hair away from her face.

Then I ruffled her hair softly.

"My stubborn cupcake."

Jay blinked slowly.

"Keifer?" she whispered.

I smiled.

"Yeah."

She looked around the room.

Then back at me.

"You look terrible."

I laughed.

"Thank you."

Before she could say anything else, I leaned forward and gently kissed her forehead.

Not because I wanted anything.

Not because I was being romantic.

Simply because she was awake.

Because she was here.

Because I could finally breathe again.

The door suddenly opened.

Aries entered first.

Then Angelo.

The moment Angelo saw Jay awake, relief flashed across his face.

Only for a second.

Then his usual protective expression returned.

"Jay."

"I'm okay, Kuya."

"You scared everyone."

Jay looked guilty.

"Sorry."

Then her eyes moved toward me.

"Did you sleep?"

I immediately answered.

"Yes."

"He's lying," Aries said.

Traitor.

Jay looked at me.

Aries crossed his arms.

"He barely moved from that chair."

Jay stared at me.

I suddenly found the hospital wall very interesting.

The nurse entered a few minutes later.

"Good, you're awake."

Jay nodded.

The nurse smiled.

Then she looked at all of us.

"Don't pressure her."

Everyone listened carefully.

"She may remember things slowly."

"Please don't force her to talk."

Angelo nodded.

Aries nodded.

I nodded.

Jay rolled her eyes.

A few hours later...

Angelo finally left the hospital.

He wanted to check something personally.

Something connected to the investigation.

The entire day had been filled with questions.

Too many questions.

And not enough answers.

Angelo POV

I finally arrived home.

Exhaustion sat heavily on my shoulders.

My mind refused to rest.

Too many things weren't adding up.

Too many secrets.

Too many lies.

Then I froze.

Someone was standing outside.

Waiting.

Not alone.

Several people stood behind him.

My eyes narrowed immediately.

The man slowly stepped forward.

Clyden Watson.

For several seconds, neither of us spoke.

The atmosphere turned cold.

Dangerously cold.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

Clyden smiled.

A smile I didn't trust.

"Checking on an old friend."

"I don't remember inviting you."

His smile widened.

"That's unfortunate."

My instincts immediately told me something was wrong.

Very wrong.

Because Clyden wasn't here by accident.

He wanted something.

And whatever it was...

It had something to do with Jay.

The smile slowly disappeared from my face.

"Start talking."

Clyden looked directly at me.

Then he said something that made my stomach drop.

"You're looking in the wrong direction, Angelo."

Silence.

"What?"

Clyden's eyes darkened.

"If you think I'm the one behind this..."

He shook his head.

Then he whispered,

"You haven't met the real enemy yet."

The moment Clyden left, I immediately pulled out my phone.

I didn't like this.

Not one bit.

The warning.

The kidnapping.

The note.

Everything felt planned.

And until I knew who was behind it, Jay wasn't safe.

The call connected after the second ring.

"Angelo?" Keifer said.

"Listen carefully."

His voice immediately turned serious.

"What happened?"

I looked toward the road where Clyden's car had disappeared.

Then I said,

"Take Jay to the private island."

Silence.

Then Keifer asked,

"You sure?"

"Yes."

"I was already thinking about it."

I nodded.

"Good."

"What about Keiran and Keigan?" Keifer asked.

"They'll never agree to stay away from Jay."

A small smile appeared on my face.

"Leave them to me."

"Angelo—"

"I mean it."

I leaned against my car.

"Keiran and Keigan are my responsibility."

"I'll take care of them."

"I'll explain everything."

Keifer remained silent for a moment.

Then he said,

"Thank you."

I laughed softly.

"Don't thank me yet."

"Just keep my sister safe."

His answer came immediately.

"With my life."

For the first time that day, I felt slightly relieved.

Because if there was one person I trusted with Jay's safety...

It was Keifer .

I ended the call and looked toward the dark sky.

Then I whispered,

"Whoever you are..."

"You picked the wrong family to mess with."

Keifer POV

I lowered the phone slowly.

Jay was sleeping peacefully in the hospital bed.

Completely unaware of everything happening around her.

I walked toward her.

Then gently ruffled her hair.

"You heard that, cupcake?"

I said softly.

"No school."

"No chaos."

"No Section E."

A tiny smile appeared on my face.

"Just you and me."

I gently adjusted her blanket.

Then looked out the hospital window.

The private island was the safest place I owned.

Private security.

Private staff.

No outsiders.

No unexpected visitors.

No one would find her there.

At least...

That was what I hoped.

Because something told me this story was far from over.

And the real enemy was finally starting to move.
