Chapter 10 - Chapter Ten

By the time Eli was done looking through all the files and news he could get on Aurelius from all the libraries he had visited that day, it was already dark outside and his stomach was starting to rumble, his head was starting to ache, his eyes were starting to turn and his fingers were starting to cramp from flipping through many books.

He lifted his phone to check the time as he wondered how he was going to contact Aurelius global, because the more he searched for it, the more he believed he was connected to Aurelius.

Eli sighed, a yawn escaping his lips as well, stretching as he gathered the files he had picked, going to drop it on the shelves, before leaving the library.

The sun was starting to set, the streetlights were starting to come on, casting a light on him, even his shadow looked tired.

He stood there for a moment wondering if he should go back home or to his foster parents house considering the fact that he wasn't ready to explain what the files and pictures he still had in his possession meant.

His mind went to the dump he had been living in before meeting Elara, wondering if dropping them there would be a good idea, he decided to head to the location to decide for himself

"Who is that?" a bright light shown on Eli's face revealing his tired and tattered self as soon as he walked into the environment of where he had lived profusely, Eli lifted his hands automatically to shield his eyes from the light.

"Heyy, Eli, it's been so long, thought something happened to you man." The bearer of light revealed himself, dressed in worse clothes than what Eli was wearing.

"Royy ,how have you been? I didn't think I would still meet you here." Eli shook Roy's hand as he spoke.

"Not everybody is as lucky or would be as lucky as you Eli, — so why are you here?"

"No reason, just wanted to see how my old place is faring without me around."

"Did anybody move in after me?" Eli asked, fishing for answers as his eyes scanned his environment.

"No one is going to live in as bad a dump as you Eli, so nope, your place is still as you left,.. Plus I heard they're going to tear this place down any time soon.-- been thinking about what to do since I heard the news, – but I am certain that wouldn't concern you Eli, it's good to see you again though.

"Actually, it does concern me, when are they tearing this place down?" Eli scanned his eyes through the place as he asked Roy.

"I heard next month, I am not sure though, are you moving back here Eli, that's quite sad though, if you are."

"I am Roy, but I won't be staying for long." Eli responded, turning away, heading to the direction of the place he had stayed for a while.

"It's good to see you again though." Roy shouted at the retreating Eli, before going back to where he stayed.

Eli smiled, checking his surroundings before dodging into his house.

The place was exactly as he had left it or worse, due to the roof leaking at some part of the house, mold was starting to form, the place smelt of dirt and dust, and the clothes he had left behind looked worse than rags, Eli sighed wondering if this place was a good idea due to the numerous insects that ran about.

Making up his mind, he pulled his old rusty box closer to himself, opening it and making sure that no insect had found a way to make it their home, satisfied, he retrieved the documents from his pocket, placing it neatly into the box, before locking the box with the padlock he had remembered to get on his way day, satisfied, he stood up and left, planning to come tomorrow to clean up the place.

"You leaving already?" Roy asked as he had also stepped out at that moment for reasons best known to him.

"Yea, the place is a mess, can't sleep there tonight, will come back tomorrow to do a little cleanup." Eli answered simply, entering into the road almost immediately, not in the mood for small talks as Roy was still saying something.

The trip back to his in-laws house was filled with different thoughts, mixed feelings and uncertainty, He couldn't stop himself from feeling the excitement of him being the possible heir to Aurelius or having a connection to it at least, but the constant anxiety and fear that had lived with him since he was a teenager couldn't stop taunting him for being delusional.

"Where have you been Eli?" Elara's voice rang out from the kitchen as soon as she noticed him coming into the house. "I was so worried about you."

"Why are you worried about him? I thought he finally grew some balls and decided not to fend off his wife and mother in law, guess I was wrong." Sekva's disgusted voice rang from the hallway the same time she made an appearance in the dining area to stare at Eli.

I had some work to do that took my time, sorry for making you worry." Eli crossed the distance from the living room to the kitchen, hugging Elara from behind.

"How did your meeting with your grandma go?" Eli asked, changing the direction of the conversation from himself smoothly.

"It went well, talked about a lot of things, why don't I fill you up on it later.

"Alright, why don't you relax in the dining area while I prepare dinner." Eli suggested, rubbing Elara's shoulders lightly while shooing her out of the kitchen.

Either Selva was tired or she had run out of insults for that day, because the rest of the evening had been uneventful and peaceful, Eli eating peacefully with his wife Elara, while Selva watched a movie in the living room because she couldn't stand eating on the same table with Eli.

Eli finished his meal the same time as Elara wishing her a goodnight as he retired to his room, his mind focused on the meaningful thing he had to do the next day which involved giving a call to Aurelius global as he had been able to find it on the internet with so much effort, with that thought in mind, he slept with a smile on his face and his dream was filled with flashy ca

rs, private dinners, and exotic holidays with his with his wife.
