"God fucking dammit," I snarled, bolting upright in bed, drenched in sweat.
My heart hammered.
Same damn dream again.
Same fucking tree.
I dragged both hands down my face and stared at the ceiling.
Elise and Reid were out there somewhere, and nobody knew where. They could be hurt. They could be trapped. For all I knew, they could be fighting to stay alive.
And here I was waking up pissed off over a stupid fucking dream.
I squeezed my eyes shut. Didn't help.
Jealousy twisted in my chest. I hated it. More than that, I hated myself for feeling it.
I exhaled sharply. Didn't matter. The feeling was still there — ugly, persistent, refusing to leave.
"Fuck."
I threw the blankets aside and got out of bed.
There was no chance I was getting back to sleep.
A few minutes later I was outside. The air was cold enough to bite. Darkness still hung over Graymoor. Dawn hadn't arrived yet. The forest sat silent around me.
