ANDREW'S POV
All night, my mind kept wondering,
We were not able to identify the body due to some weird policies,
but if it is actually the girl, then we've got a problem. I thought.
The next morning, I hurried to the school hall to look for Jane but she wasn't. After checking the list of the founder's day events, I found out she worked at the Guest arena. I went to look for her.
I saw her on come out of an office tagged Protocols.
"Jane"
Without explaining, I held her hand and dragged her along with me to the clinic.
After we got to the clinic, Jane stood beside me without saying a word.
Sabrina and Arnold sat on the floor adjacent to Jane and I.
Although, Jane did ask me what happened throughout the walk to the clinic, but I simply could not bring myself to tell her because, I did hope that somehow, by the time we arrived, everything would have turned out to be one big misunderstanding.
Unfortunately...
After a while, Miss Temi came out of the clinic.
Sabrina and Arnold stood up immediately.
"Hi guys. Like I told you yesterday, we cant disclose any information about it now till the school gives it approval."
"Are you saying my friend is gone?" Sabrina asked almost crying.
"What exactly happened?" Miss Temi asked and then lean on the wall.
Sabrina spent over thirty minutes trying to explain why and how the incident happened.
"I know it sounds weird but I felt like the boy should have written a letter to me and not her." Sabrina added.
Jane looked at me surprised.
"Letter?" She mouthed and I replied with a nod.
From the expression on her face alone, I knew she was thinking the same thing I was.
We were wrong, although we did not convince ourselves that everything was finally over but we did try to predict it next victim and the person we thought would be the next victim, "Nafisat" wasn't.
For a brief moment...
I actually believed the nightmare had ended.
Just to realize it hadn't, it had only been waiting.
"Well, I will tell you this because you guys are my friends but please I don't want to hear it spread."
Sabrina drops to the ground crying. "I killed her."
"Well, from your story, I don't think you did." Miss Temi added.
"Autopsy shows that she was poisoned and that was what made her faint not your hit. There was no concussion neither was there any signs of internal bleeding. Though the hit could have spiked it but, that's just a theory. Once again, Andrew, Sabrina, I am very sorry." She said took a bow and then went back.
It reminds me so much of Nathan that it feels so much like a dejavu.
Miss Temi took a bow when she delivered the news of Nathan's passing. I stood at the same position as the last time, same feeling, same .
A loud sob pulled me away from my thoughts.
Sabrina had completely broken down.
Arnold helped her to one of the benches outside the clinic and with both hands covering her face as tears streamed endlessly down her cheeks.
"It should have been me…"
She whispered between sobs.
"I hit her...I should have been the one…"
I remember saying that to Jason in my room then picked up a vase and then broke it angrily.
Deb immediately wrapped both arms around her.
"Stop saying that, the doctor said it was not your fault."
"But we fought…"
Sabrina cried even harder. And yes, that also reminded me of Nathan and I because we did fight.
"I shouldn't have fought with her."
Deb own eyes had become red from crying, yet she continued trying desperately to comfort her despite looking like she needed comforting herself.
A few steps away stood Arnold.
Unlike everyone else...
He wasn't crying.
He simply stared at the clinic door with an expression I couldn't quite understand.
Then I remembered something, Arnold, had claimed he could feel negative energy and he did predict that she was gone by just 'feeling negative energy.'
I walked over to Sabrina and Deb.
"Take her to her room and don't bother to come for rehearsals." I said.
They stood up and went away.
Taking the opportunity, I quietly walked toward Arnold.
"Can we talk?"
He looked at me before nodding once.
"You said something yesterday."
"What?"
"You said you could feel bad energy." His face changed immediately. "Were you serious?"
He looked away instead of answering.
"Arnold."
After a long silence, he finally spoke.
"I don't know how to explain it."
"Try."
He sighed deeply.
"It's not like seeing ghosts or anything. I don't see the future nor do I hear voices."
He rubbed both hands together nervously before answering.
"It's more like...a heaviness. The kind that tells you something bad is about to happen."
"Apart from what I heard, can someone explain to me what is going on?" Jane requested.
"I think the culprit has something to do with what happened just now."
"Fitball?"
"Who is fitball?"
"I gave the culprit a name. John Doe is to common so I gave it Fitball." She said with shrug. "Even if fitball is to be investigated we cant do that now, not with the Founder's day event."
"Exactly." I replied.
"How exactly?" Jane replied confused.
"The culprit…"
"Fitball!" Jane corrected.
"Fitball uses event as a cover up." I said
"I think I see it too." Arnold replied.
"What?" Jane asked. Apparently the only confused one.
"When ever fitball plays his big card, he does it during an event so it can feel like more of an error than a planned work."
"Lets try to identify a pattern."
We talked for over an hour trying to find out the pattern.
However, we did find something;
Hypothesis;
1. He would always send his victims letter but not all of them sounds like threats, some sound romantic but are dangerous like that of Sabrina and her friend.
The letter they were sent, though, I had no access to it but from Sabrina a line say;
"If you can love me till the end of life to lay your life for me then I will come to you to have you."
Huummm, yeah it did sound like a love poem but...
It aren't.
2. Fitball uses events as a cover up. The first case with Denis, it was cultural day so almost everyone were out of their dorm. Nathan's case too, my team went for a competition and it was streamed. It was compulsory for all the students to watch it so they were not indoor.
3. He separated his victim from help either by the help of a fall out or manually. (Although, still a theory." Emma, who is likely a victim of fitball was separated from the school by being sent home. Nathan and I had an argument, Sabrina and her friend as well. How Denis ended up back at the dorm, nobody knows.
4. Fitball lives in the school and has a very high authority.
5. Fitball is not a person.
