He slammed his palm against the dashboard, the plastic cracking under his hand.
Inside the bullet-riddled car, the sound was as deafening as a gunshot. The tires lost traction for a beat, but Miller didn't ease off the gas. He pressed it lower, tearing through the busy road toward their only hope; an off-grid medical point.
Beside him, Alex's head rolled limply against the headrest. His eyes were glassy, staring blankly at the roof. Every breath he took was a shallow gasp. The dark blood soaking through his ruined shirt had already smeared across the leather seat, pooling beneath him.
"Don't you dare die on me, sir!" Miller barked, his eyes darting anxiously between the road and Alex's face.
