Chapter 2:The Sweet Smile (part1)
Renjiro Hoshino was in first year ,Hakuho Academy school at that time. He already weighed close to 100 kilograms and stood at 5'10".
His school uniform stretched tight across his chest and belly, making every movement feel heavy and uncomfortable. His face always carried the same tired, defeated expression — the quiet look of someone who had long accepted that the world only saw his size, never the person trapped inside.
The moment he pushed open the classroom door, the familiar shift happened. Conversations dipped.
Heads turned. Eyes moved slowly and deliberately over his large belly, his round cheeks, and the way the floorboards creaked slightly under his weight.
Whispers spread through the room like ripples in still water.
Daichi Yamamoto leaned back in his chair and spoke loud enough for everyone nearby to hear.
"Look who decided to show up again. The fat guy. The floor practically shakes every time he walks in."
Kenzo Suzuki chuckled from the desk beside him.
"Yeah, he's so heavy the chair looks like it's begging to collapse the second he sits down."
Airi Tanaka wrinkled her nose in clear disgust.
"Just seeing him puts me in a bad mood for the rest of the day."
Yumi Saito let out a short, mocking laugh.
"He always looks like he rolled out of bed and came straight here without bothering to clean up."
Hana Koizumi shook her head while slowly fanning herself with her notebook.
"The whole atmosphere in the room changes the moment he steps inside. It just feels heavy and off."
Renjiro didn't reply.
He kept his head slightly lowered and walked straight to his usual seat at the very back of the classroom.
The wooden chair creaked loudly as he lowered his massive body onto it. Shame burned in his ears.
A familiar heavy ache settled deep in his chest.
This was his everyday reality at Hakuho Academy — a school where appearance decided everything.
The tall, sharp-jawed, athletic boys moved through the halls like kings, commanding respect without even trying.
Boys like Renjiro?
They were nothing more than background noise.
Easy targets for casual cruelty and silent judgment that cut deeper than any words could describe.
He stared down at the scratched surface of his desk and thought bitterly, No matter what I do, no matter how quiet I stay or how hard I try to be invisible, in their eyes I'll always be this. Just the fat guy who doesn't belong here.
The whispers slowly faded as the teacher entered and began the lesson, but the damage lingered like a bad taste that refused to leave his mouth.
Renjiro sat there with his shoulders slightly hunched, pretending to focus on his notebook while the cruel words kept echoing inside his head.
Then, after the period had completely ended, the teacher dismissed the class and students started getting up from their seats.
The atmosphere in the classroom shifted again — but this time in a completely different direction.
A girl stood up from her seat near the front and walked toward the back rows with confident, unhurried steps.
It was Meiko Fujiwara — one of the most popular girls in the entire school. She had long blonde hair and red eyes that framed her sharp, attractive features perfectly, a slim yet curvaceous figure, and big b**bs that turned heads wherever she went.
She wore that signature sweet smile like a carefully crafted mask.
Today, that smile was aimed directly and unmistakably at Renjiro.
She stopped right beside his desk, tilted her head with a cute, shy expression that looked almost genuine, and spoke in a soft, honey-like voice that made several boys in the class glance over with obvious envy.
"Renjiro-kun…
you're sitting all alone again?
You look kinda cute like this,
you know."
Renjiro froze completely.
His heart skipped a heavy, painful beat. Before he could form any words or even fully process what was happening, Meiko reached out and gently took his large hand in her smaller, softer one.
The moment their skin touched, her soft, full breasts brushed lightly against his arm. They moved with a subtle, natural bounce that sent his mind spiraling into chaos.
His entire face turned bright red in an instant.
His pulse thundered loudly in his ears.
The world around him seemed to slow down dramatically, exactly like one of those intense slow-motion scenes in anime where every detail burns into the viewer's memory.
Heat rushed up his neck and flooded into his ears.
A confusing, overwhelming storm of embarrassment, disbelief, and sudden, unexpected warmth flooded through his chest all at once.
For the first time in years, a beautiful girl was voluntarily touching him, and the sensation was so intense it left him breathless.
Meiko kept holding his hand a second longer than necessary, her thumb brushing lightly over his knuckles in what felt like an affectionate gesture.
Behind his back, where only her close friends could see, she flashed a quick, cold, evil smirk that revealed her true intentions.
This entire moment was part of a carefully planned, cruel trap.
Meiko wanted to fool Renjiro completely. She planned to make him believe she actually liked him, to slowly build up his hopes and confidence, only to then set him up to be brutally beaten and humiliated by her real boyfriend — the violent and feared delinquent Akuro Yoshibe. The goal was simple and vicious: turn this fat outcast into the biggest laughing stock of the entire school so everyone could enjoy watching his public downfall.
But Renjiro knew none of it.
Inside his racing, overwhelmed mind, one desperate thought kept repeating like a frantic mantra: Is this really happening right now?
A girl like her… actually talking to me?
Touching me?
Am I dreaming?
For once in my miserable, lonely life… am I actually lucky?
Meiko leaned in a little closer, still holding his hand, and asked in that same sweet, disarming voice,
"By the way, Renjiro-kun… did you ever have a girlfriend before?"
Renjiro swallowed hard. His throat felt tight.
His voice came out shy and slightly shaky with emotion.
"No… never. But why are you even interested in someone like me?
No one ever talks to me. Everyone just calls me fat and stays far away, like I'm some kind of burden."
Meiko looked directly at his soft, chubby cheeks with fake warmth shining in her eyes and said gently, almost tenderly,
"I'm not like the others at all.
I actually think guys like you are really cute… soft and huggable.
Whenever I see you, you remind me of a cute panda.
You just look so cuddly and warm, like someone I could hug for hours."
Renjiro's ears burned even hotter.
A powerful wave of happiness crashed over him, washing away years of accumulated pain for a brief moment.
For the first time in his miserable school life, someone had said something kind — something that made him feel seen as more than just "the fat guy" or "the outcast."
Deep inside his chest, a fragile new hope began to bloom for the first time in years:
Finally… after all these years of being mocked, ignored, pushed aside, and treated like I don't matter, this fat, unwanted guy has found his princess.
Maybe… just maybe, my life is really about to change for the better.
On the outside, Meiko continued smiling sweetly at him, her voice remaining gentle and caring, playing her role perfectly.
But on the inside, her thoughts were ice cold and calculating:
How pathetic. How easily he fell for it… like a stupid, desperate puppet dangling helplessly on strings. Just wait.
Soon we'll rip that little spark of hope apart piece by piece and show the whole school what a complete joke he truly is.
Renjiro was still processing her words.
"Cute… huggable… panda…"
These words felt like medicine to him.
He had never imagined anyone calling him that.
He looked at Meiko with shy eyes and asked hesitantly,
"Really?
You actually like guys like me?
People always say I'm heavy and disgusting.
You don't think I'm… too much?"
Meiko laughed softly, a sound that seemed warm and genuine, and squeezed his hand a little tighter.
"Of course not. I like soft boys.
There's something comforting about them.
You're different from the loud, arrogant guys who think they're so cool.
You seem kind."
Every word sank deeper into Renjiro's heart.
He felt a small smile forming on his lips — the first real smile in a long time. For a moment, the weight of all the daily humiliation felt lighter.
He thought, If she really likes me, maybe others will start seeing me differently too.
Maybe school won't feel like a battlefield anymore. Maybe I won't have to eat lunch alone every day.
Meiko kept her sweet expression, but her mind was already racing ahead.
She was calculating exactly how to escalate this trap during lunch — how to make him do small tasks for her, how to make him believe she cared, and how to signal Akuro at the right moment so the beating would be public and humiliating.
Renjiro, lost in his new hope, didn't notice the subtle shift in her eyes.
He was too busy holding onto the warmth of her hand and the kindness in her voice.
