Chapter 40 - Lost City Of Civilth

"Wait what? You can't die?" Merlin's eyes widened as he looked at silver.

"Well I can die, but just for about three seconds, then I come back to life" Silver replied calmly.

'Is this like those guys in eternal city, I can't confirm anything with her shadow, maybe Sunny can' he thought.

"How… I mean how did you get like this?" Merlin asked as he relaxed slightly, he dropped his guard but was still prepared to substitute if it ever came to it.

"Do you really want to listen? It will be a long story" Silver said as she smiled slightly, as for how he knew she smiled, he could just feel it, plus her wolf ears perked up a little.

"Yeah sure, I have time" Merlin answered.

"Alright then sit" as Silver said it, the earth behind him rose to form a chair, then the soil hardened to become black steel, identical to the spikes on her body.

"Interesting… is this your ability?" Merlin asked as he examined the chair then sat down.

"Yes, this is the ability I got after ascending" Silver explained then continued "the ability I awakened with was called 'Iron Maiden', it makes me stronger when near steel constructs, especially when I'm in armour, my strength would be doubled…"

She paused then continued.

"...My ascended ability gives me the ability to manipulate any surface and convert it to metal, just like the chair, I can also do that with water, wood, any other tangible thing…"

Then she finished.

"My transcendent ability allows me to convert my body to any type of metal I want, I can also move through the surface of other metals"

By the time she finished, Merlin was shocked, compared to her, Morgan would be considered low tier. He smiled and then said.

"Considering all this, I'm surprised you don't have a true name"

"I have one" Silver replied.

"Huh?"

"I said I have a true name, the village seer called it ''Iron-Blooded Hound…" Silver said again.

"Figures… Well since you've shown me good will, I'll tell you mine" Merlin smiled and said.

"My awakened ability is called magician, it includes divination, danger premonition, paper daggers, damage transfer, flame jump/control, air bullet, paper figurine substitute, bone softening and illusion"

As he finished sharing Silver's head tilted slightly.

"Why is your ability more than mine even when I'm two ranks above you?" She asked.

"What can I say, I'm just that good" He smiled proudly.

"Yeah yeah… now for the story" Silver said sarcastically.

"Oh yeah, I'm listening" Merlin said as he focused.

Many years after the doom war…

The city of Civilth lived on the borders of the great forest, they were prosperous due to the abundance of material they got from the surroundings.

The people of Civilth followed the path of the past laid before them, they sheltered multiple warriors that had stepped into the path of ascension, as their city prospered, their overall strength increased.

They forged weapons to defend against the creatures of the forest and to empower the warriors.

Civilth continued with their ways till they got their first transcendent warrior, the city gained a stronger protector, and the path to transcendence was open for others to follow.

After two decades of grooming transcendent warriors, the city gained a new step on the path of ascension, a supreme warrior.

The warrior was immediately given the title as head of the city, the patriarch who defiled the laws of the world.

The city entered a new age of power, they took lands from the forest creatures and built cities, their territory expanded and they became more advanced with time.

..

.

"Wow… what an interesting story Lady Silver" a child's voice sounded out.

"Yes indeed, the history of our city is really interesting" said Silver.

She had ash colored hair and pristine white skin, her golden eyes glowed slightly with the sun brightening her face, in the room she stood, children of different ages sat down on chairs listening to her stories and teachings, these children were the hope and future leaders of the ever-growing city.

"Tell us another story, Lady Silver…" another child said loudly.

"Yes… another please" the children cried out requesting another story.

Silver sighed and gave in to their demands.

"Alright, just one more"

"Yaaaay!!" the children cheered.

Before she could begin, the door to the room opened and a young man walked in.

"Lady Silver, the great oracle requests your presence" the young man said, he spoke politely even though he gave off the aura of a transcendent warrior.

Silver who was a mere ascended sighed and replied.

"Corvad, please drop the formality… and why is my mother looking for me?"

"How can I Lady Silver? You are the only heir to the patriarch and your mother is the greatest oracle among us…" He smiled politely then continued.

"...The great oracle said I should tell you that it is time"

"So it's that time huh… Sigh… alright I'm coming" Silver replied then she turned to the children.

"I'm sorry children, we'll have to tell the story another time"

"Awww" sad sounds echoed from the children, one even whispered.

"it's all warrior Corvad's fault"

"Yeah!!" many children agreed with the child.

Corvad sighed and shook his head muttering 'children…', he then turned to Silver and made way as he escorted her to the palace.

..

.

"Alright Lady Silver, I'll be taking my leave" Corvad bowed and walked out, leaving her in front of a large door leading to the study.

When she opened the door, she saw her mother who was sitting on a comfortable chair reading a book. Her mother has white hair and blue eyes and she wore a flowing light blue gown, and on her eyes were glasses she used for reading.

"Greetings mother" Silver bowed slightly to greet her mother, the wife of the patriarch.

"Hello there Silver… How was your day?" Her mother asked as she looked up from her book with a smile.

"It was good mother…" Silver replied and described the things she did today, at the end she added "Corvad said you were looking for me, is it that time?"

"Yes child, it's about time you joined us as transcendent warriors of Civilth" Her mother said with a smile.

"But do I have to, we already have about forty transcendent warriors, do we still need more?" Silver asked concerned, their city was surrounded by forests and they had no contact with other people, the beasts in the forest were not difficult to hunt, even the ones that had been mutated were still killable by ascended warriors, so she did not understand the reason for their search for greater power. (A/N: this period is before the nightmare spell, so they have no information about it whatsoever, the beasts they hunt are regular beasts of their world, the mutated ones are simply nightmare creatures, but their ranks and numbers are obviously low).

"Silver, we need to prepare as much as we can for the day of the vision" Her mother said as her voice turned serious.

"You mean the vision about the fall of the city, we already have Dad and many other warriors, I understand that most of your visions are accurate, but you had this one a few months after I was born, that is over twenty seven years ago mother" Silver said as she sat down opposite her mother.

"We still need to prepare child, because it hasn't happened doesn't mean it won't, even I pray that it doesn't happen so we should simply do the best we can" her mother spoke solemnly.

Silver sighed and shook her head.

"Alright mother, I'm ready to do it"

Her mother smiled and asked.

"Do you remember the process?"

"Yes, it's simply to fuse one's essence with the essence of the world and let the world's essence empower and reform your core, right?" Silver asked.

"Yes child, that's the process, it will take a long time, but if you focus well you should be able to achieve it" Her mother said with a soft voice then continued.

"You will have to climb up the arcane mountain peak, the essence of the world is gathered in that location, meditating there will help with your ascension"

Silver nodded and then stood up and bowed.

"Okay mother, I'll go prepare my things and I'll leave in a few days…"

Her mother nodded and picked up the book she was reading earlier and continued to read from where she stopped, Silver then made her way to her room.

The next few days, she rounded up her things, she said her goodbyes to the people she knew and she packed her things for the journey.

As her mother said, the process of transcendence was a long one, the warrior had to stay in absolute focus in order to fuse themselves with the essence of the world, then their body would be renewed and changed, achieving a higher level of power.

The arcane mountain she was headed to was a the place where her father, the patriarch had surpassed the level of transcendence, his ability was simply order, he had the ability to manipulate things and people with his words.

More than thirty years ago, her father stood on the mountain top as a transcendent warrior and gave two orders, the first order was that as long as he exist, all forces of the world would obey him, the order was profound, but his level was too weak for it to happen, but he was supplied with enough authority to give his second order.

He ordered the sun to stand still in the sky, with his power enhanced, the sun stood still for six night and days, though the night never came, on the seventh day, his power began to rise steadily, his body became different and he unlocked a new level of power, the defiled the laws of night and day and in return he achieved supremacy.

From that moment, the patriarch of the city of Civilth was born, the first order he gave after becoming a supreme was the enhancement of the essence around the arcane mountain, from that day the warriors of the city always achieved transcendence on that mountain top.

Silver prepared her things thoroughly and left for the mountain, she killed a lot of mutated beasts on her way, she camped at night and travelled by day, the journey took almost five months as she moved on foot.

After a long journey of traveling and climbing, she finally arrived at the top of the arcane mountain. As she got there, she made a platform of metal beneath her, and sat down cross legged to meditate.

The process continued for three months, not moving, not talking, just absorbing and fusing essence with the world, after three months, she finally achieved it.

The rush of energy filled her body as her core reformed, into something more powerful than before, a transcendent core.

She waited a while for the process to calm down, then she checked her abilities, after confirming the limits of her abilities and transformation, she decided to head back home.

Her return journey took only a month as she sprinted through the forest at high speed, every beast she encountered was impaled with metal rods that rose from the ground, killed before they could make their move.

As she arrived, the city hadn't changed much, the streets still bustled with life, there were more buildings that weren't there when she left, but the feeling of returning home overshadowed the tiny details.

She walked through the streets calmly, then someone noticed her.

"It's the young Lady!" The passer-by immediately drew attention with their words.

"It's her!! Lady Silver is back!!" Another joined and the news spread to the castle.

A few minutes later, she had finally escaped the celebrating crowd and finally arrived at the castle, her mother still in the study greeted her kindly.

"Welcome back Silver" she gestured to a chair and said "come, sit, tell me all about your journey".

Silver sat opposite her mother and began to tell her journey in detail, the rainy nights, every hunt, her practice and all other experiences she gained from the journey, she also gave details about her ascension.

"That was a valuable experience child, you should rest up and regain your strength, you're home now" Her mother said with a soft smile.

"Thank you mother" Silver replied as she returned to her room.

The next two weeks, she simply relaxed in the comfort of the place called home. After resting for weeks, she moved on to training, she had friendly matches with other transcendent warriors and she trained the warriors of lower rank.

The life in the village returned to normal, due to her abilities, she became one of the strongest warriors, especially when in armor or near multiple metal surfaces, then she would be unrivaled.

Months passed with the city moving forward smoothly, until one day, the sun stood bright in the sky, but the village was filled with a ghastly atmosphere, the feeling creeped into the spines of the warriors, then right there, right in the middle of the city, space tore apart, a large one in the center of the city, and hundreds of smaller ones all around the city.

From the large gate, a mass of flesh flowed out, the feeling it gave surpassed that of the city's patriarch, the mass of flesh cast its gaze upon the running people, then it squirmed, and transformed.

It transformed into a human-like shape, but its suffocating aura didn't diminish in the slightest, as it cast its gaze down, many people below fell limp on the ground, they had died.

In that moment, the other gates began to produce multiple mutated beasts, but unlike the dwellers of the forest, most of these beasts gave off feelings identical to that of transcendent warriors and some beasts even higher.

The day of the destruction of Civilth began…
