But the King Level Beast possessed an underground army numbering in the tens of thousands. There were simply too many bodies.
The frontline was slowly forced backward down the mountain roads.
They retreated to the lower fortifications. The massive Stone Gates of Thaldrasil loomed behind them. The gates were carved from solid mountain bedrock.
It was the ultimate defensive bottleneck. If the monsters breached this archway, they would flood directly into the civilian sectors of the city.
The retreat stopped here.
Bram Stonehelm stood squarely in the center of the massive archway. The Vanguard giant planted his heavy iron boots into the cracked cobblestones. He gripped his massive tower shield with both hands.
